ORDER OFFICIALLY PLACED!  I just sent an email to Steve and Byron and they have my money.  HA.  So excited, guys. My most genuine thanks to you all.  SPECIAL THANKS to PURE745!  I actually sent a screenshot of your last post (about working/softening the head) directly to Byron!

And, I'll send them this thread.  They should see how many fans and true advocates they have on this site.  Pretty cool stuff.

Here's what I went with...

715 HEAD, stainless steel, TIGERIZED/SOFTENED with suggestions from PURE745
TOUR SATIN/BLASTED finish
LIGHT MILLING to honor Tiger's head.

The stamping will have to be a surprise.....  stay tuned for pictures...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS GUYS!

Glad I could be of help.  Honestly the replies before I even chimed in were more than I contributed  :)  Honest and well thought out replies to help a fellow putter fanatic is what has made GolfWRX great.  It's a shame that newer threads have turned into puttermaker/enthusiast internet d*ck measuring contests and neglect the fun in genuinely being happy for your fellow WRX'er getting his/her dream putter.

Congrats again and keep us all posted as to how it turns out.  Great thing about Byron is that he will probably call you or shoot you text messages showing you the progress or asking if what he's got going on is what you're asking for or had in mind.  :drinks:

Hi guys,
Not trying to Jack this tread, but I am about to order from Byron  also and I wanted to look like rickie fowlers gamer. I believe rickie got old tigers putter. Should I order something similar to what OP ordered? I want Newport 2 style with trisole which for me is between 006 and 615?
Thanks guys!

Fowler's putter is said to be from a stash of old putter heads once put aside for Tiger. I believe the 006 is no longer in production so the 615 is probably your best bet.

Agreed--fowler's has the tri-sole as well, and on stock offerings the 615 is the only one presently that has that feature.

The 711 is another one that looks pretty close but that one isn't in production anymore either I don't think...  Love that style as well.  You guys need to post up some pics when you have your customs in hand!!!

The 711 doesnít have a pocket cavity though, itís a flat cavity.  Fairly large aesthetic/feel difference if youíre going for the razor thin top line a la the Tiger gamer.  Sweet putter, Iíve always loved the 007 but I reckon the 612 (or an old 006) softened is probably still closer to what OP wanted than a 007/711.  I have a softened 612 (TCB, thanks to Tai for the design :p) and had a 006 and 711 at different points.   The 006 looked most Tiger-ish to my eye and the 615 is the newest incarnation of that, as everyone above me has mentioned.

Iím with you on the ďpost your picsĒ sentiment all the way though!   I come here every day to look at more pretty Byronís, letís see em if you got em!

Can't tell if you are if you're making fun of me or stating the obvious.  I'm very aware that Pure is Tai and knows Byron well.  He stated exactly that in his post....so....there's that.....

Thanks a lot, man.  I really appreciate it.  Clearly you know Byron and his talent well.  So, it was that much more helpful.  Also, I APPRECIATE that you know/understand that there are guys (like me) that don't have the depth, knowledge and golf network that you do.  On some sites, people getting into a hobby are terrified to post things as they'll get lit up for their ignorance.  I think that's lame, quite frankly.  So, thanks for not being that way and being HELPFUL.  I have friends that are decent players who don't even know what the weight of their driver shaft is....if that ask me, I enjoy sharing what I know and helping them learn.  I'm not gonna laugh at them...

So, thanks again dude!  Excited to share pics with you guys.  Steve tells me I'll see it in about 6 weeks.

Agree with Tai--these threads are what make WRX a solid forum. Folks should feel free to post questions and not be shamed for not already knowing the answers.

Okay, two exceptions...the world does not need another blades v. Cavity back or "any single digit 'caps gaming SGI irons" threads. Beyond that, fair game in my book. For what that's worth (Not much).

Pocket depth will affect feel.  Deeper the pocket the softer/springier the feel will be - also maybe more "tink" sound to it.  The 611, I think it was, had no pocket and produced a nice firm feel and a clickier feel and for me a quicker response off the face at impact.  Sound is feel - so the pocket can impact both.

Other side of the coin is that the deeper tuna mills Byron does will also soften the feel and minimize the click at impact.  Personally, I don't like the deep milled faces as much.  If you're doing a TW putter his has a smooth face with a pocket and thin face/top line, the actual TW putter (SC) has an amazing feel slight click but very soft feeling.  Again, Byron can dial you in to exactly what you want and go about it a few ways.

So I wanted to duplicate this GSS Cameron, it was the best performing putter I've ever had. I just couldn't have that much cash tied up. It was 337g and 36", here's the 615 Byron made for me. I only have two rounds on it but I think it's going to work out fine.

Created an account so I could see it.  GREAT looking.  Mine won't have "Tigerish" stamping.  The headshape should be VERY similar to that I'd think, though.  We will see, soon!

Are you asking specifically about Byron? Generally speaking, it depends on the options you request (finish, welding, amount of hand work required, etc.) and his current workload. I've had orders from Byron arrive in 2 weeks (stock head, glass blast finish, minimal stamping, no hand work) but have heard others take 6 months or more.

I was told about 5 weeks on mine, but, I ordered it right around the holidays.  A buddy of mine said about the same (it just showed up on his doorstep one day).  I'd suspect I'd see mine early Feb, right after I get back from PGA Show!

I think at address, the stock 615 will have a thicker top line than Tigers game. The older Newport 2 models have a relatively thin top line. I’m sure it’s something Byron could handle, but would probably need to be hand softened to round it off and make a bit thinner.
