I use old US coins. A Liberty nickel, Mercury dime and Barber quarter. Most people I play with ask what country the quarter and nickel are from :)

Looking at the coins on the ground, the images are very different from anything current if you aren't into numismatics.

Never had them confused with anyone else's marker and they aren't obnoxiously large.

I almost always forget a ball mark when starting a round.  I’m usually forced to mark my ball with a tee on the first hole then grab whatever flat object I can find in my bag for the remainder of the round.  Looking at this thread, I should probably pick up something nostalgic so I won’t forget in the future.

A dime. Some people get annoyed when your ball marker is too thick (poker chip) or large (poker chip).

I picked-up one of these as it commemorates the only major ever played in my home town and also happens to be the year I was born.  But as it's mostly green I don't expect it to stay in my possession long.

No cool story or anything for me. I typically use the one in my DivPro tool but otherwise I just use the first flat object I grab out of my bag whether its a quarter, poker chip, or loose ball marker.

I Know a guy that owns a bar and always drinks beer when he plays. Usually it’s Coors Light in cans. He then uses the pop tops for his marker. The great thing is, he always has a marker in his pocket. Especially the last hole or two where he might have a dozen in there!

I use either Eisenhower Silver Dollars or Kennedy Half Dollars (when I don't want to be "that guy" with the marker the size of the cup).

I enjoy using poker chips, the large size of them makes them easy to see. Although, some playing partners find them distracting, so I keep smaller markers handy when close to the hole. There are poker chips with a removable center (magnet) marker that are accommodating.

A marker that says "John" on it.

My name is not John.

John must have lost it - it is mine now.

I like to use a Canadian dime as it is magnetized and fits well on my ball mark repair tool.  Stays connected.

Really cool markers in this thread.  I made some markers as well as other assorted stuff out of timascus.

Here is one I carry every day with me in general, but I use it as a marker when I play.  This one is the size of a US Eizenhower Dollar coin and I use a
smaller/thinner piece as a close marker.

I've been using a Japanese 500 yen coin.  Good size, a tad bigger than a US quarter, but not ridiculous like a poker chip.
