Break 80 on PAR 72 or be no more than 7 over on 18.  With a 34% GIR average for last 20 rounds (and getting better) it could happen.  No 3 putts and 50% up and down for just one round and I'm golden!

Finish 18 holes under par for the first time. In the past 3 months I've been under par 5 or 6 times on 9 holes, but the other 9 is usually at least 4-5 over. I'm sure its all mental and hopefully one of these days my blood pressure will stabilize when I'm on the 10th tee at -2.

My goal, and I know it's a hard one, is to not make a double bogey for the year.

Same as 2017: win our Sr. Club Championship. Though I guess that's more of a goal than a resolution.

Resolution: get greenside shots past the hole.

I was going to say aim for the conservative part of the fairway, aim for the middle of the green, lay up on par5s, use the lob wedge as if it were a potent condiment, but I just donít see it happening. Yeah, screw it, Iím gonna paint the sky.

My 2018 goals:
1) Practice short game, 100 yards in plus putting.  Too often, I simply go to the driving range and just "bang" balls without purpose, mostly driver.....

2) Play more golf.  I had very few rounds this year.

I believe the combination of the above should make my handicap drop.

1. Continue to have a blast with my 4 year old son on the course.

2. As with every year, to shoot par or better on 18 holes. Got close this year with a +2.

3. Play Pebble Beach with my dad.

4. Play more after work 9 holes in the summer.

50% fairways
50% scrambling
<1.8 pph.

Probably aggregate over a month to keep rolling numbers.  Aiming for those should get me down to a 5, but they're quantifiable goals instead of just (get better).  Yeah, I'm wild AF off the tee right now.

Not going to buy anything that isn't disposable for the game. (Gloves, balls, tees and such are still on the constant shopping list)

Going to take lessons. Need to since injuries have changed my swing a bit.

Going to play with my wife more. She is really starting to get better (lessons helped) and is enjoying the game a lot more now that she is competitive.

Going to take at least one golf trip. Possibly up to NC.

That's it for 2018 plans.

Just moved clubs, so instead of a 30 minuet drive I now have a 2 minuet drive to play golf or a 5 minuet walk. So my plan is to play much much more golf. Hoping for at least 3/4 times a week, this I hope will bring my handicap down. I'm stayed pretty steady the last couple of years but not moved forward, I think 2018 is the year to do it.

1. Finally find a driver that I like enough to permanently replace the TaylorMade R9 that is still in the bag!
2. Hit the range in the week more. Need to accept that although work might make it impossible to play 9 holes in the evening anymore I can still go to the range.
3. Win my annual golf trip, after an embarrassing loss this year where I played my worst 3 days of golf in a decade

Practice approach irons.  More GIR will keep you in the 70's.

I agree. Its that stupid chunk or that pull/ push that keeps me off the green. Sure I chip/ pitch it close, but after a while it gets tough to 1 putt and save par

Toying with this idea. My son is 12 and can really pipe it for little tyke. I spent this year finally focusing on driving the ball well. Maybe for 2018 we make a goal of being able to, on a single outing, combine his best drive and mine for a total of 600 yards. I actually think we could do it. Our best (not quite on the same outing this year) adds up to 577. He's improving and it'd motivate me to keep working at it. He has accomplished so much - he has a developmental disability, but is doing great. He really likes to go after it with his driver. We'll see...maybe it'll motivate him to finish his dinner more often...haha

In 2015 my average score was 84.14, in 2016 I dropped it to 83.45, and this year got it down to 83.2. So I think a reasonable goal would be to try to get the average to sub-83.

Of course a way to achieve that goal would be to improve my GIR% to better than 37.65%. I'd like not to have to scramble for pars as much.

Commit to hitting driver more often, even when a 3-wood seems like a fine play. Aim at the middle of the greens more often, even when I think I really can squeak it over the lip of the bunker and stop it right at the hole. Work on lag putting. And never post on any thread that has over 3 pages, as pages 4 - 27 is where is all goes to doubles...

Hit one more club! Can't tell you how many times I came up a club short on approach shots this year.  Thank goodness I can chip and putt well (probably because I miss so many greens!!!)

To play golf like I did when I was a kid again.  Let go of mechanics and see the course like a canvas that I can paint with my golf shots.  To stay relaxed, happy, and in the moment even when my golf shots turn the canvas into an impressionist painting.
