getting in early lol.

My golfing New Years resolution is to get through the whole year without buying a single golf club or shaft.  I had the same resolution this year and failed miserably - 2 sets of iron shafts, 2 driver shafts, a new driver, 2 new sets of iron heads, a putter and three wedges.  Bombed out in a comprehensive fashion!!

What is your new years resolution?

Imagine the damage had you not made that resolution

For me , a set of PXG's , on January 1, would probably limit 2018's spending, possibly even for golf, food, or gasoline

For me, not to buy a new club. Objectively speaking, I have everything I'll ever need from a golf club perspective. I have a set of blades, game improvement irons, everything in between, multiple wedges, drivers, woods, hybrids, putters, and enough shafts to raise a house. If I can get through 2018 without buying a new club, I'll be happy.

Second would be to play more rounds where I don't get all worked up over the score. Just try and have more fun on the course and not let the bad shots get to me.

My resolution is simple: get better. I'm not very good now but I have flashes of brilliance.

More balls in play, more one-chips, fewer 3-putts (or worse!). That's it.

Take a gimme when someone gives me one.
Put work aside and play an extra 18 per week.
Carry an extra towel (yes, I have converted).
Try to smile more when I play. It's a game and it should be fun.
Get to a 5 HC.

Work on bunker play, took 3 shots to get out of a deep one yesterday lol. Also to get my driver back in action. I lost all faith in it halfway through the summer and haven’t hit it since. Really feel like I’ll improve if I get the big stick back in order.

this prompted me to go look and wow it is bad.  My resolution is just to play.  I don't need any clubs or anything else. I posted 18 scores to Golfshot in 2015.  I've posted a total of 6 since then.  :(

I just started playing again (2 summers ago) after 18 years off competing in another sport.  First year I didn't track a handicap and just played.  In 2017 I started tracking my handicap and after 51 rounds this year I'm sitting at 14.4.

So my 2018 resolution is to get my official handicap under 10.  And if I can fix my short game alignment I believe its doable!

Whats in my bag:
2016 Cobra Fly Z+ driver, graphite shaft
2016 Cobra Fly Z 3 wood, graphite shaft
Adams Tight Lies, 5 fairway wood, steel shaft
Fly Z irons, 5-GW, +3 upright, 1/2" short, graphite shafts
Vokey wedges M grind, 50', 56' 60'
Omen Putter, Super Stroke 2.0
Srixon Soft white pure white golf ball or Calloway Super Soft

I haven't purchased any new clubs all year. A first for me. I also have no intention of purchasing any new clubs for next season. After buying and selling incessantly for so long, I finally realized that new equipment doesn't really enhance my game. Had my best season by far as well.

Made it to single digit this year. Would like to drop it by 1.5 in 2018. That's aggressive given that I probably wont get to play a whole lot.

Also ten consecutive weeks without a purchase would be a win...

Hope to get more time to golf. Now I only get to play about once a month. Hopefully limit my spending to two new wedges (grooves are almost shot) and only 1 or 2 putters. I am a putter whore. Hope to be able to get up to Chicago and get a fitting with Bettinardi. Love the one I am rolling now, but would love to get a custom fitted one!

For me, play more golf and enjoy it. As many have said, 2017 was a particularly heavy year and I didn’t play much.

Also, to be realistic with myself....buy only one club/shaft for the year. Not two and not ten. But one. Saying I won’t ‘need’ one club and satisfy that need is a false goal!
