not both on the same hole thankfully

One better, seeing a bear cub run across your fairway.

Where's momma?

When at a course in Kimberley BC  (Trickle Creek) years ago, my wife and I were warned by a ranger about a momma grizzly and her cub on the property.  We never saw them except for some giant clawmarks from momma bear on one of the greens

Too funny, later that day we get to our hotel and we are warned not to leave the doors open when we go out for ice, etc.  The previous day a bear had entered a room with a door left open and was ransacking the snack cupboard, that would get the heart racing when you came back for a cocktail

My wife didn't sleep well that night ....

Yikes! Was playing with my parents and saw the cub run across the fairway out of the woods, we waited about 10 minutes but never saw the mother and played the rest of the round very aware of our surroundings...

Driving SLOWLY down a steep cart path around 9:15 in the morning last May. The path was wet, the brakes locked, the cart slid, hit the right curb and bounced me, the driver out to the left.  I landed on my right hip and received  a bad sub-dural hematoema as a result.  It was 4" wide and 1" thick and took six weeks to go away.  Black and blue from my hip to below my knee.

9th hole at St. Andrews in West Chicago, IL, in the trees on the right and attacked by a goose.  VNutz who was in the group laughed his arse off while one of the guys tried to get video.

Poetic justice...and you can't make this up....

Same round, 10th hole which parallels the 9th VNutz is playing lights out, in the right rough on a par 5 and is attacked by the same goose.  Don't want to know if he soiled himself but he took a double on the hole.

Total wackiness, same goose, 6 holes later lands on the tee box as we're driving and as we proceeded to stroll down the fairway, he came running after us until spotting a group on the previous hole and he went and attacked them.

We had a mean momma goose at our club one season.....someone (who shall remain nameless - but looked a lot like our greenskeeper) went out there with a shotgun and we had more goose problems.

My buddy 4th hole of 3 day club championship, his push cart starts rolling down the hill into the shallow pond. It reaches the pond upright, stays that way for what seemed like several minutes then falls over. Remember him on the 5th hole about 30 yards from the green taking his bag and turning it upside down to let the rest of the water drain out. We spent the rest of that day and the next day coming up with names to call him. Fun for us don't think he had as much fun with it. Man I miss him great guy, cancer took him this year. RIP "Nemo"

I hit my 14yo son right in the head with a lob from about 20y away. Iím not sure what made him decide to go tend the flag(I didnít ask him to) but he was not there, or even on the green for that matter, when I looked down to prepare to hit my shot, took the swing and when I looked up heís standing there holding the flag and Pow, Right in the kisser! Luckily it was just a little lob shot and not a harder one, man did I ever feel bad about that.

I would have grabbed it by the neck and beat that goose to death with a laser range finder. More sporty that way.

So far in a short golfing time, filled with true fansticism, I've had 3 awful turns on the course.
1. Nearly got into a fistfight. Pair behind us hit into my partner and I for second hole in a row, barely missed partner, he kicks the ball, they drive up, and just barely don't get into it. Good too bc one of them was enormous. Woulda been ugly.
2. Struck in temple w golf ball, shanked off a driver not 10 feet from me. Went sideways into my skull and bounced off. CT negative, some fluid in ear, reabsorbed in a week. V lucky, one inch anywhere else and I lose an eye, scatter my teeth, deaf in one ear, etc.
3. Residential type course surrounded by houses. Pull up to 4th green and pit bull squeezes through hole in fence, chases me around cart, fall on cart path and skin knees and knuckles, still scarred, feels like I fell in a zombie movie, start swinging putter wild and barely run the dog off before partners react to help.
So I guess all that's left is to be struck by lightning? Wtf?
Who else been randomly injured or nearly so? And how to avoid it?

I didn't realize how dangerous golf could be. lol

The only mishaps I encounter are the occasional bad bounce.

It seems the best way to avoid it would be to not play with you! :scare2:

Seriously, though, that sounds like some bad luck, and I hope things get better for you.

Well, here are my 3.
1. Marking my ball on par 3 green.  Failed to realize, guy added to our group was left handed.  So instead of being on his back side, he was facing me.  He hits a skull shank out of the bunker and nails me square in the forehead right at my hair line.  I go down like a ton of bricks, blood everywhere.  Wait it out about 10 minutes, and then resume play...finished the round.    How to avoid it....pay attention to where you are standing and whether other player is left or right handed.
2. Hitting 7iron steep sidehill approach shot into green from rough.  Club unearths a big rock, bending the 7 iron face so far open it looked like a wedge.  Sprained wrist as a result...out for over 2 months.     How to avoid...not sure I could have.  Could not see rock and I take pretty good divots.
3.  Altercation - apologize for it being long. Me and B-I-L get paired up with a single.  On hole 7, par 5, I am chipping up to green and a ball comes flying into us, one hop and hits me on the ankle.  No yelling fore...nada.  The single with us, steps up to that ball and hits it back up the fairway towards the foursome that hit it.  Here they come, yelling and screaming.  Guy is yelling at me.  Told him, you hit me and I was not the one who hit the ball back towards you.  Well, course is a down and back layout so we see them often.  They are drinking heavily and every time they get near us they start yelling at us.  This all culminates on 18 tee box.  17 green is just beside the tee box (actually dangerously close).  As I am mid swing, the jerk yells out and I pull up barely hitting the ball off the toe of my driver.  It bounces down near him.  He takes a wedge and chips the ball back at me.  It hits the ground and bounces up and I hit it flush with my driver sending it sailing just past his ear.  The guy is visibly shaken. B-I-L walks over to him and says "Enough is enough.  He just almost killed you and you need to realize who you are screwing with.  He has been shot, stabbed and snake bit twice and is still alive.  He WILL kill you."   We go into grill after 18, never saw them again.   How to avoid it....hmmm, Maybe I should have just pulled my pistol out of my bag and shot the idiot.  :)

B-I-L walks over to him and says "Enough is enough.  He just almost killed you and you need to realize who you are screwing with.  He has been shot, stabbed and snake bit twice and is still alive.  He WILL kill you."   We go into grill after 18, never saw them again.

I want to play a round with you...just added you to my wish list!

DP4...I have a question for you:

If another name for a male sheep is a ram....

And another name for a mule is an a$$....

Then, why is a ram in the a$$ a goose...????

Well, here are my 3.
1. Marking my ball on par 3 green.  Failed to realize, guy added to our group was left handed.  So instead of being on his back side, he was facing me.  He hits a skull shank out of the bunker and nails me square in the forehead right at my hair line.  I go down like a ton of bricks, blood everywhere.  Wait it out about 10 minutes, and then resume play...finished the round.
2. Hitting 7iron steep sidehill approach shot into green from rough.  Club unearths a big rock, bending the 7 iron face so far open it looked like a wedge.  Sprained wrist as a result...out for over 2 months.

Oh, BTW, I forgot to add the "how to avoid".  Just updated that too.

I would have grabbed it by the neck and beat that goose to death with a laser range finder. More sporty that way.

I suggested pate but it's not allowed in the Land of Jailed Govenors.

It seems the best way to avoid it would be to not play with you! :scare2:

Seriously, though, that sounds like some bad luck, and I hope things get better for you.

You kidding? I'm the guy you wanna be just out of collateral range of when the lightning starts picking favorites.

That's the thing, I'm worried about the collateral damage!

Recently at the Australian open we were watching Jason Day's group on the 10th. He stripes one (337 metres) down the middle, his playing partners Geoff Ogilvy and Rod Pampling both then proceed to hit the guy sitting right next to me at around 280m on the right hand side.
What are the chances of being hit twice from the same group...

I will never understand people like that.  If I ever hit into someone (unknowingly) I apologize to the moon and back.  To do it intentionally, and then be aggressive about it to boot, is a whole other level of idiotic.  It is especially weird when they could have easily just picked the ball up and put it back where it was that your partner hit it back from.  I'm willing to bet they aren't a "play it as it lies" kind of group.

I don't agree with you hitting the chipped ball back, you could have killed the guy, whether he is an idiot or not.  At any rate, glad it ended somewhat peacefully and they were hopefully taught a valuable lesson.

A few years ago I was playing with a friend. I was getting a flag distance with my range finder and my buddy shanks an approach shot in the fairway and the ball took a beeline and hit me right in my n**s. I fell to the ground and as soon as I hit the ground a bird took a crap mid flight and it landed on the side of my face.

Neat day.

Last year, I was going to get a few holes in after work. It had been 2 or 3 days since I had swung a club outside but in my house had been experimenting with holding off my release in hopes of getting more compression (This doesn't work!) Anyway, I hit my first tee shot in the fairway, step up to hit my 7 iron with my new awesome hold off iron swing. I hit the most glorious shank you've ever seen right at some houses. The ball disappeared behind a crape myrtle and I'm making that weird grimice face listening for broken glass when I hear a lady scream. I ran over to the house and see the sweetest little old lady holding pressure on her toosh.  She was bent over pruning her roses. It's probably the worst I've ever felt. She was a much better sport than I would've been if someone had hit me in my backyard. I left the course and went and got her some flowers. Anytime I see her outside now, I go and visit with her and warn her that I'm about to hit.

Small 9 hole PAR 3 course in Los Angeles, Norwalk Golf Course.  Longest hole is 135yds, tees and greens are pretty tight.

Second hole was backed up with 3 groups waiting.  This kid gets bored waiting and takes a practice swing.  Caught his buddy on the right eye brow with the backswing and cut him to the bone, blood everywhere.

Ever since then the main thing I tell a kid with a golf club is look behind you before you take a practice swing.
