Wanting to buy a used iron set for my dad who has Parkinson's but has actually played some solid golf the last couple years, averaging about 90. He's played with Dunlops for years and actually mentioned the other day how nice my buddy's irons felt, which were Burner 2.0's. I posted a WTB on Burners with regular shafts but didn't get any offers. Any recommendations on very similar irons?

Chief, you can't go wrong with PING or Cobra to be honest depending on his strength and what that awful disease will let him do.  If you made me choose, I'd go Cobra TBH.  You can get a good quality set for a good price.  And even if he wanted to try the one length to remove a many variables as possible, that might work out nicely for him.

Thanks T I'll look into that. One thing that helped was I put oversized grips on all his clubs. Strength of grip has gone down a bit for him. Still stronger than your average guy, he's been a farmer most his life.

Ah a hearty fellow!  :)

I was going through some sets in my head, and I keep coming back to Cobra.  Their newer stuff is really moderate speed friendly if he needed it.  Look used on the Bay and see what you can find.  If you happen to want new for some crazy reason, let me know and I'll have the owner of our store give you a shout to see what he can do for you.  That goes for you too!  We'll be able to make any set dance!  :)

I looked up the maltby mpf rating for the burner 2.0 - 627.   There's alot on ebay.

Keeping it in the tm family, speedblades have a higher (more forgiving) mpf rating of 775

or

RS1s - 818 mpf rating.

Check out Callaway preowned or global golf - trusted sellers.

I ended up getting some Burner 2.0's with reg shafts and oversized grips, 6-PW, so perfect! But thanks to all of you for your recommendations and time!

Look at the Ping Gmax irons. They were longer than the G's, by about ten yards in a head to head challenge.

My father has this terrible disease and is no longer able to play. Good for you dad being able to play and hope he can enjoy it for some time to come.

As for clubs, you might consider and take a look at the Callaway Steelhead XR irons. I have a set with the Matrix F15 shafts(graphite). They are light and easy to hit.

If he doesn't like the 2.0's I'll definitely check in to all these suggestions, thanks guys.

And best of luck to you and your dad and family going forward Herdman. My dad is still doing ok, medicine seems to help with his symptoms.

I think a set of Ping Rapture V2's with graphite shafts would work very well. Despite how long they have been around, there isn't a whole lot out there right now that is much better. They are also indestructible. If we ever have an apocalypse, Twinkies, cockroaches, and the Rapture V2's will be all that survives.

Take a look at the Cobra F-MAX irons, you can get a new set for $599 variable length or $499 for one length.  The One Length may be better for him long term.

I'm sure he'll like them.  I have an '09 Rescue 5h in reg. that would be a perfect fit with those irons if you happen to be looking for a hybrid to go along with them.
