GIVEAWAY_titleistHeadcover.jpg

This summer, Titleist released Limited Edition leather headcovers inspired by the U.S. Open and Open Championship.

You may have noticed a set in your local shop, or on the clubs of Justin Thomas, Rafa Cabrera Bello and other Titleist staffers playing in those majors.  Check out the photos below.

To wrap up 2017, Titleist has just released its Limited Edition Holiday headcovers. As you can see from this recent tweet from Tyrone Van Aswegan, it's also the gift that Titleist is sending its tour players this holiday season.

OH MY!   I want it.

A great gift to myself this holiday.

Best shot this year was a whopping 325 yard drive with my D4 right down the middle with everyone watching.  Don't ask about my previous drive.

Star Ranch #13. 503yrd par 5, i was about 175 to the flag. Hit a 7 iron from the fairway that started at the left side of the green and was cutting back to the pin. It landed just past the flag, spun back, hit the stick (almost went in for an albatross). I had this putt left for a kick-in eagle.

This was my first round with my new Miura 1957 Small Blades. Probably the easiest eagle putt I'll ever have.

Those are really nice looking headcovers!

So my best shot of 2017 was actually a 4 foot putt.  It was for a personal best 68.  I made it despite my hands shaking I was so nervous.  My playing partners got a good laugh afterwards when I admitted I just shot a PR and was sweating over that short putt, haha!  Here's to a 67 in 2018!

My best shot of 2017 actually came last weekend.  It was a skulled chip that went screaming across a severely sloped green on a hillside.  If it hadn't hit the flag and went in for a birdie it would have screamed into the woods and off the green for good knows what score!

My best golf shot this year was using a 3 wood for my second shot on a long par 4 with an elevated green. The green is high enough that the pin location is always in question. I played a shot with hopes of getting on the putting surface.

When we got to the green I saw my ball resting within 2 feet of the pin which was all the way back on this large green. Made me smile.

My best golf shot of 2017 was what amounted to a 50ft putt for eagle that was a double breaker!

Best shot was two weeks ago, hit knockdown six iron draw to back left pin with wind into and left to right for birdie after a less than stellar pulled drive with three wood into left rough. The birdie closed out my opponent in local match play event.
Thanks for the opportunity!

Best shot of 2017 was as an invite to a private club.
On the 3rd hole Par 3, during a torrential down pour, I stuck a 129 Pw to a 1/2 ball rotation from going in as an Ace ...on the low side of the hole.

It would have been my 4rth Hole in One if it gone in. Each of my previous Aces were all on the 3rd holes!!

187 Yard Downhill Par 3 to a blind pin tucked over a bunker, bladed 8 iron right at the flag, didn't even bother watching the ball assuming it would be over the green in a hazard. Got to the green and searched for the ball for a solid 3 minutes before throwing my hands up and checking the hole...and there it was! Hole in one number 2 from one of my worst shots of the year, what a game this is!

Great looking covers.

My best shot this year was using a 54 sand wedge for my 3rd shot on a par 5 485 yards. I made eagle on this hole a few times when on the green putting. But my 2nd approach shot went in the bunker, the bunker sand  still wet due to rain and saw my ball plug. hit a great bunker shot one hop, hit the flag pole and ball went in for an eagle. Probably the best eagle i have this year.

My best shot of 2017 has to be a hole out from about 60 yards for a eagle  on a short 344 yard par 4. I shot a 78 and tied my best round of the year.

On my third round after I was cleared to play golf again after triple hernia surgery. On the par 3 16th playing 158 yards, with front hole location.I bladed a 7 iron to the back of the green. I rolled in a 102 foot down hill double breaker for a birdie! All I could do is laugh!

My best golf shot happened this past weekend.

I missed my drive into a fairway bunker on a par 5. I chunked the next shot out and still had 247 yards with about a 5mph into wind hurting off the right side. I decided to take my Cobra F7 fairway out and try and pipe it close to the green in hopes of an up and down par. I absolutely demolished it and stuck the shot about 25 feet out on the green. I sunk the consequential birdie to round it off.

Best shot of the year was this drive I hit probably 200 yards to the right of my target, it was amazing. So far right going right, I probably couldn’t hit that shot again if I tried. Over the trees, over the houses, probably crossed the street into the yard across the street

My best golf shot was during my first round of the year. Hadn't played in over a year so was having a frustrating time and rough go of it as was expected.  After wanting to go home at the turn I said let's just keep playing, hit a drive that was playable, then 2nd shot into green side bunker thinking "here we go again".  Set up for the shot, and whaddaya know, holed it and put a smile on my face for the rest of the round.  First time I'd done that in several years and went from "why did I come back" to "glad to be back".

I'm having trouble picking from my 3 most memorable...

First was a drive. I was playing with a friend, shorter par 5 that was playing 470 on this day. (according to laser and google earth both) There was maybe a slight breeze part across/behind me, but it was very light. (I didn't account for it when playing into it, that's how light) I usually play a cut, but at times my cut gets stuck and turns into a slice. So I decided I wanted to hit a draw. I take a nice smooth swing and make perfect contact. I picked up my tee right away knowing it was pretty good. My friend hit and we drove up. After he hit his second, we go to look for my ball. I look in the usual area I end up in between the 200 and 150 marker, and I can't find it. I actually start getting annoyed thinking I was going to have to take an lost ball after splitting the fairway. Then my buddy spots the ball up ahead. The ball was up by the 100 yard marker (I was 100 from the middle of the green via laser as well) on the right side of the fairway (the fairway had some small hills, so it wasn't easy to see) I have no idea how my ball went as far as it did, but I got a generous kick and roll out. Even then, it had to have flown most of the way to it's resting spot since the fairway slopes up around 160-170 out from the green. I can make it to the 150 post and once in a while a few yards past the 150 marker on this hole, (sometimes) but I haven't gotten close to that drive.

Second was an iron shot. It's been fairly cold lately, in the 40s with wind and little sun. But, I still try and get out to play. I know I am giving up a little distance to the cold and being bundled up. The other day I was playing 18, a par 5 playing 550 (per google earth/laser rangefinder) There was a strong wind at my back, slightly across. I hit an ok drive, and the wind helps get me to 210 out from the back pin. I'm in the rough with a decent lie. The wind is at my back, and I've been hitting my irons really well lately, so I pull a 7 iron. Being short is a great miss, so I figured I should play something that will go plenty high and leaves me in a good place if it's short. I absolutely flush this 7 iron. It starts on a great line, with a barely discernible draw. I feel good about where it will end up,I figure middle of the green leaving me a putt to the back pin. But I felt even better about how well I hit the shot, it was doing exactly what I planned/wanted. The ball lands within 5 - 6 feet of the cup, and rolls another 7-8 feet. (with how strong the wind was and playing out of a flier lie in the rough, I am very happy the ball stopped as fast as it did!) Naturally, I missed the eagle putt, but at least I made my birdie...

My last is a putt. I was playing through a few guys, and I left my second shot (par 4) on the front edge of the green with the pin in the back. The ping is at the top of fairly steep incline, and there's a ton of break right to left. I am trying to be a decent person, so I walk up, say hello to the guys who were quick to let me play through, and step up to my putt. I don't take a practice swing, and I hit the putt hard (uphill) I know it's too hard as it comes off the face, now I'm going to look like an idiot in front of these guys. I start walking, knowing I will have a really long comeback. As I'm walking, the ball starts turning, I then start thinking I might hit the hole and slow it down. The ball hit dead center, and popped up and back down. The putt was at least 35 feet. That was the luckiest putt I had this year, I know I didn't deserve it.

I finally found a driver shaft I really like in the T1100, but I still plan on testing new shafts. I just got a pxg 0311T 3 and 4 iron, I might sub them in for the hybrids depending how I like them. I'm currently using a Toulon Indianapolis, but I am also testing an Evnroll ER7

My best shot of the year happened on a recent trip to Cancun.  170yd par 3, slightly downwind.  Pulled out a 7-Iron.  All of the work I’ve been doing on my swing came together.  The hit was absolutely flush.  It was a tight 1 yard draw going right at the stick.  Sadly, this confluence of good luck resulted in a shot that flew a good 10 yards longer than expected.  The ball air-mailed the green into a hazard.  Couldn’t have been happier with the strike.  Just a never lending quest to repeat that contact!

I was fortunate enough to play Kapalua several times this year while out in Hawaii. I loved that whole course! 17 and 18 are a blast! How did you do on 17? The first time I played it I blasted 3 wood into the junk at the end of the fairway, I thought I had plenty of room, but the ball just keeps rolling/bouncing.

I went driver hybrid on the green on 18 with some wind at my back, but I don't think the tips were in the same spot the pros were hitting from. Such a fun finishing hole.

I played it many times as well, I was stationed in Hawaii twice, 3 years the first time and  6 the next...17 was very tricky depending on the wind, I want to say that I made bogey more than I made par, you are correct the ball just keeps rolling and you can get in the crap...I've hit everything from driver to 4 iron on that tee, it is challenging but, hey, you are in Hawaii who cares!!!!...lol
