After almost two months, they are all in the same place.. at home. Woods, irons, wedges, putter, bag and towel.

Is there anything more beautiful than putting together your first bag?

Sometimes I go in the guests room (their room now) and just look. It makes me happy!!

As you can see I still keep the irons headcover. When I finish playing and after cleaning all of them

Do you remember your first bag?

Nice, but you need to get better head covers for your irons. Those will slip off when playing. Club Glove are the ones I use. ;)
Bag set-up currently under construction..............again.............help?!

Frankly I didn’t think about covers for irons while I’m playing. What I do is to remove the covers at the warm up and put them again after I finish playing and cleaned them.

How many of you have iron covers? Are useful?

Does it count if my first bag was a set of 5 clubs when I was maybe about 9 or 10 years old?

They were all from a brand named Pinseeker which might be a who for most.

My first bag contained used Johnny Miller irons from Sears

I think the 1,3 and 5w were black Wilson laminates

The putter was a Wilson 8813

For the life of me I can't recall the brand of SW I head .. but this was 37 years ago.  I can recall not having one in my first junior tourney and sucking from the traps until someone told me to get a SW.

What's the weather like right now in the City of Winds?

I suggest getting some cooler headcovers to pimp that bag up a little bit

My first bag was TM R7 irons, the 2007 Burner driver, a hand-me-down McGregor putter, and wedges I probably paid $30 each for at Wal-Mart (or some other similar retailer).

I don't know the shaft flex or anything from that first set.  I think it was 2009 when I took up the game.  I eventually added a used 3 Hybrid, which is still in my bag to this day, and a Rawlings 3w from an old set of clubs my brother had.

It’s windy as usual and turning to be quite cold, but some days ago I went to Guba and unexpectedly played all the round in tshirt. Sunny and 15/16 Celsius and sunny, just perfect!!

Generally I play in Dreamland and much windier there, but I don’t have to spend 2 and half hours in the car.

I like your stories guys.

Promise I’ll think about fancier headcovers.

I remember my first bag . . . with disgust.  My friends who got me into golf took me to a friend of theirs who sold/built/repaired clubs out of his garage.  They chose for me knockoffs:  a driver that looked like a TM something-or-other (this was in 2007);  fairway metals that were supposed to look like something Cobra in 16* and 20*, and odd numbered irons that were supposed to look like the original Steelheads, in 5, 7, 9, PW and SW.  Everything had floppy shafts, except the putter, which was a Ping Anser 2.  I wasn't through the first season when I started improving the set.  Ha Ha.

My current set has a complete set of KZG Evolution irons, and I know just what you're saying about going into the club room just to look at them!  I do it too, out on my sunporch.  Love those mirror-shiny, understated chromers.

Oh, and iron covers?  I walk golf (it's the only real reason to play, in my opinion.) And when I'm carrying the bag (as opposed to pushing a bag cart), I use the iron covers to prevent 'bag rash.'  Otherwise, I just leave them off and look at the clubs.  Sheeeesh!

My first set of clubs I purchased used from a friend.  It consisted of a set of Spalding Executive laminate woods:  1, 3, 5; a set of Precision Dictator II BeCu irons that were Ping Eye 2 clones; a no-name sand iron and a Laser putter that would be akin to a Ping B-60, all rolled into a canvas Cooper golf bag.  I didn't play much back in those days having bought the set ~1990.  I still have the irons and play them on occasion with a set of Callaway BB War bird woods, a RAM Tom Watson SW and a Ping Zing putter.  I can score about as well with that set-up as anything modern when my swing is co-operating.

I had been playing about a year with some off the rack clubs. I had a fitting done, and discovered my irons/wedges were 2 inches too short and the lie angle was off by 2º. So that fitting put together my first real golf bag. It was all Ping G5's. And yes, it was exciting. :-)

I know, I got to work on my swing a lot. I started a year ago and between work and family, Iím lucky when I can play once a week..

This doesnít help in improving the learning curve as I would like to.

Hopefully I will play more next year and deserve to play such bag

Welcome to golf, and to GolfWRX, Marco!  Your avatar looks just fine for someone at your stage (better than most!) I hope you get to play a lot this year.  I found that the best way to balance family and golf is to take the family golfing!  That doesn't work real well with infants, but when they can walk, they can have fun!

First bag?  That would have been a hand me down set of Hogans in 1965 from my mother.  She couldn't hit them, and neither could I.
On Sundays, I used to play hickory

Thanks Steve. Iíll try next year with my daughter, now it is too cold and windy and the driving range is accessible only through a 10 mins drive with buggy.

How many of you have iron covers? Are useful?
If those are the ones that came with the irons, they're not truly iron covers.  Great for shipping but not for play.  Are covers useful?  That's up to you.  I don't dislike them but I have never (and will never) use them.
