Put in the 780 F4 in the 5 P790.
Feel is very close weight wise to the DG105 so no adjustments there. No tempo thrown off. Just feels smoother. :)

Launch still is not any better though. :(
Thinking of putting in the 760 F4 and see if that helps.
That make any sense?

Btw the P790s are awesome so far.
Very impressed with how solid they feel!
Fun to play with....in the one round before the snow came and 3 sim sessions.

Fore!

Since you hit XP95 too low I don't think chasing shafts to increase launch is the answer.  I'd bend the heads weaker or work on your swing.

Went to Recoil protos from Nippon 950-GH.  Worst mistake Iíve made in a while. Graphite shafts in irons suck. Could not swing at it without shot going left.  Iím a 1 HC.

To make a blanket statement like " graphite shafts in irons suck " shows
complete ignorance. Obviously the Recoil Protos were not a good fit .
Shaft weight and profile are far more important than what material they
are made of.

Was fitted for them by top 100 fitter

Recoils are fine and so are the SteelFibers... but after trying both I'm back to lightweight steel... too much added costs vs benefit for me and truthfully I seem to be able to maintain better tempo with steel for some reason.

Which shafts did you go to.

Again I need launch

I went with the NS Pro 950GH in a regular flex... great shafts for me. You might give them a go or even the 950GH HT (high trajectory).

Switched to Recoil 110 last year after playing steel shafts in the 110-115 gram range for years and years. This year I'm actually switching to Recoil 80. It's not quite out yet, but they are a lower ballflight and a bit stiffer than the 780 ES. They feel wonderful and I had no issues with them being too light. My 7 iron swing speed is between 85-87 on average. It only took a tiny bit of lead tape and they were right back to D2 swing weight as before.

My plan this year is 80 in the irons and 95 in my wedges.

Now for me I'm not concerned with spinning it too much as Apex irons get too low spin quite often. My Rogue Pros I'm moving into seem to be just as low spin.

Spent some more time in a sim yesterday.
Found more launch so now pretty close to what I'm looking for. :)
Not quite there yet. Overall length is bang on but not carry. Could use 5 more yards.
Will say the P790 5 iron was much more enjoyable and playable than my earlier try of a high launching XR 5 iron and it's huge offset :(

Will try either taking your suggestion of adding a degree of loft or
trying the lighter higher launching 760 F4. 460
Willing to try the 760 460 my bud put them into his XR Pros last year and man o' man I could hit his 5 iron high and long.

ooops
Said 760 above
meant 460 F4

tried it today. Only gained 1 degree of launch, maybe 2-3 yards carry.
But it threw off my tempo with the other clubs (tried it in a P790 7 iron vs my own with the DG105)
as it was so light in comparison.

Tomorrow I will have the 5 iron bent a degree or so weak with the 780 F4 and see how that compares.

thanks again for all the suggestions folks :)
