You don't revere the pros but accept their opinions; you're a hypocrite. Nobody expects you to understand material science and mechanical design.

Many users in this thread alone are experience better feel in the forged version  vs the cast version.

Hypocrite ? Although nobody expects you to understand English, I'll help you out witt the word "hypocrisy".

Definition of hypocrisy

plural hypocrisies
1 : a feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not : behavior that contradicts what one claims to believe or feel His hypocrisy was finally revealed with the publication of his private letters.; especially : the false assumption of an appearance of virtue or religion
our conventional morality often serves as a cover for hypocrisy and selfishness —Lucius Garvin
2 : an act or instance of hypocrisy a keen awareness of one's parents' hypocrisies

Pro golfers couldn't feel the difference between forged and cast - FACT. Accepting/admitting/assuming (pick one)  that they know far more about golf than you or I does NOT mean I "revere" them

Here, I'll help you out with "revere" also

revere

to show devoted deferential honor to : regard as worthy of great honor

The fact that I pointed that out how much better they are than you or I could ever hope to be does NOT mean I "revere" them.

All I did was point that FACT out and suggest that if players THAT good, can't tell the difference in "feel", we probably couldn't either.

So you go right ahead and tell everybody else how they should "feel". You know, because you're so edumacated.

But please don't stop - good comedy isn't easy to come by.

Boy middler  did your thread take a detour.  Hope you were able to find something helpful in here.

Owning the HM and AP2 myself.  I feel you'd be well suited with a combo of 4-5 in HM and 6-P in Forged.   Good luck.

For the OP, I have the 900HM 4-5-6 then go 900F 7-Gap.  Love the transition and have went from a 11.1 to a 9.1 this past year mainly because of my 4iron HM getting me 205yrds and two hops and stop. With the PXLZ I feel like I can hit any green on the pin at 205yrds out which really help my proximity to to the hole on approach shots.  Im so confident with the 4-5-6 HMs it forgives my only gripe which is the top line and off set at address but I cant argue at all with the positive performance. Its also worth a note that the last iron in the 900F with a cavity pocket is the 7 forged so it reduces or softens the transition from the 6HM to the 7F.  Glad I did this but I have to admit Im a hoe and have been looking at picking up a 3-4-5-6 MP18 FliHi mix as I love the way they look much more than the HMs at address. We shall see if Mrs. Claus allows these plus the ST180 driver and 3 metal I have on order...

I tried the 900 forged and hit them just as well as the hot metal and for me they felt great. But as with anything, try them out. If you are lucky then you could goto your shop and see if you can demo a full set for a day. There are some places near me that do this, you just leave a deposit for the clubs and you can take a set away for the day to try out. Otherwise you can look for the nearest Mizuno certified fitting center and they should have everything available to try - this costs about 50 euro for a session in Europe.
Just hit the damn ball.

I’d be thrilled if I could demo a set, but there’s no shop anywhere near Chicago I know of that will do that. They won’t even let me hit a display iron taped up to protect it, so I can only try 6 irons from the fitting cart. There’s a demo day next Apr, but it’s not clear if they’ll have more than a standard fitting cart. And I can’t seem to find an actual Mizuno fitting center in the US like there are in Europe. There are authorized fitters, but they vary greatly in capability...

that's a shame, I'm not sure what you could do then, other than maybe getting single clubs from ebay. Good luck with the search.

Slows time to almost nothing on the event horizon and there is no such thing as time in a black hole.  Matter becomes spaghettified, stretched and warped, and energy is super compressed to immeasurable amounts and then is just...gone.  Probably wrong on some of these but that's what I gathered from listening to some lectures.

At any rate, back on topic.  Thinking of doing a HM 4,5,6 with forged 7 and 8, and the Tour bent 2* strong in the 9 and Pw.  But might just go back to Forged all the way down.  I had forged this year but didn't find them as forgiving in the longer clubs as I had hoped, so might go HM all the way.  Decisions!!

So sorry for the delay.  Been pretty busy the past week.

Let's see.  I have been all over with these two combos.  He'll, I even added a 3rd mix to the equation.   Hot Metal 4-6 and AP2 7-P.  Lol

They have all actually performed well.  But the final decision is going with the AP1/2 combo.   The AP2 end of the bag is just so incredible.  Both in feel and flight and performance.  I get enough distance (for me) out of them.

The AP1 long irons and HM long irons are really very close to a toss up.  The new AP1 look so much better than the 716 version.   The HM still look better than the AP1 but with the distance and accuracy being pretty much a wash, I'm playing the whole 718 set full time for now.

Hope that helps some.

Interesting comment on ap1 Vs hm. Think the 718 AP 1s are the best AP 1s to date in looks. Personally prefer the ap 1 over HMs in looks but not sure on performance. I have the usual winter cabin fever itch and been hitting the 718 3s,1s,Steelhead Pros,Ping Gs.,P790s,etc.
Nothing beats my 545s  when I consider all irons in set 4-p. Still have itch and nosing around for a good used set that Allows me to keep my 545s in case. That pretty much eliminates the costly P790s & AP 3 and for now 1s. My nod goes to Steelhead X-RAY pro this week.
You have a great combo,enjoy.

Any more thoughts/experiences on a mixed Hot Metal/Forged set?  I have a fitting soon, and if I go JPX 900 (also looking at i200) I'm thinking I might go with 4, 5, 6 in the Hot Metals and then order 6-GW in the Forged.  I'm thinking 7 iron should be no problem in the 900F, so would like to try the 6 irons head-to-head with my specs out on the course.  Pretty sure the 5 iron in HM rather than F is a no brainer for my swing.  This would also allow me to switch up the 6i sometimes depending on course, how I've been playing, etc.

I play the 850 Forged and could only see myself really wanting the 4i in the regular 850.  The rest of them are plenty easy to hit.

I played the JPX 900 forged last year, tested extensively against the 900 Tour during the fitting and dabbled with an HM Long iron in the process.  Personally I saw no reason to go to the HM (in fact I struggled coming close to the 900 Forged performance).  While I have since moved on - I think the 900 forged are on a short list of irons that require few compromises.  They are considerably more forgiving than the 900 Tours, but are almost as workable (although for me I don't generally try to fade iron shots - more up/down is what I am talking about and struggle with irons as they get closer to GI).  Feel and look almost as good (as long as you arent hitting the tours at the same time), and may be the most forgiving iron I've hit for me.

The only thing I would caution someone on is the spin.   They are by far the lowest spinning irons I have ever hit...I'm sure part of that is the loft, but similarly lofted irons I have always spun more than these.  That helped me some with my swing issues, but may not be a match for all.   Whatever it is - while important for all clubs I think the shaft pairing may be more important for these.

Clever trick since you only have the 6 iron demos (may have been mentioned already, don’t have time to read the whole thread before work), would be that if you hit the forged 6 iron fine, use that as your break. Get the 4 and 5 in the HM and 6-p in forged. If you hit the HM 6i better, then break there, going 4-6 HM and 7-p forged. Good luck!
This.   Perfect answer!

Yup...Friends laugh at me because I carry a 7 wood.  But I flag hunt from 225 out, and they lose their money!

Thanks, just sharing my experience.  I have a history of not being a good long iron player, and that has changed for the better since I bagged these.

I just added the 3 with the LZ Tour graphite 6.0, excited to hit it in a few days.
