Hello I have a M1 from last year with a Tour AD Shaft and I do love it.
Ive played Titleist drivers since the 905R but switch to TM last season.  Hated the Crown on the D2.

But I've been talking to D2 players and they love the Driver.   I honestly miss the feel and consistency of Titleist Drivers.

Looking to pull the Trigger on a 917D2 with a Tour AD DI6 but would love to hear some real full season reviews from the excellent members here.

Thanks!!!

Titleist drivers are alway solid - Played them all right up to 917 but went M2 instead.

Im sure with the right shaft the 917 is just as good as anything else but honestly Ive never hit one.

If there are those out there who have been playing the 917 for a full season, chances are, they love it.  I had it out for a couple rounds and loved the sound and feel but was disappointed with overall performance.  It just didn't do anything better than my 913 D2, that's not to say that it's bad but it wasn't any longer and in all honesty I don't think it is as forgiving as it should be.  I have sold the head and moved on to a G400 so we'll see how that goes.

I have never had an issues with any Titleist drivers I have played, the 917 D2 for some reason just didn't do it for me.

I switched to the 917D2 from a 910D3 after getting fit at Titleist. I didn't think anything would replace the 910 as I knew exactly what it would do and none of the later releases gave me anything better, so I kept in in the bag. For me the 917 has that same feeling but is longer due to improved ball speed. I had a DI6x in the 910 and now a Rogue MAX in the 917. I put the DI in for a few rounds, but switched back to the MAX. Club head is 9.5 set at B2 with 10gram neutral weight.

Can anyone who went through a fitting recall the spin differences between the D2 and D3 heads? One of the earlier posts mentions the D2 head was not as forgiving as they hoped. I loved the sound and feel of the D3, but wanted something a little more forgiving. In the past the D2 spun so much for me I just couldn't consider it.

Hate the alignment marker they use. It’s a small thing, he knows.

Gamed the 917D2 all year after getting fitted. I wanted a higher ball flight this year so I went with a 10.5' with the option to bring it down to 9.75'. The D2 spun less and was more consistent than the D3 for me. I use the 12gm neutral weight and have had my best season off the tee. The forgiveness is noticeable. I can often see exactly where I caught the ball after each shot and I've been surprised more than once with the result of an off-center hit, in a good way.

Same situation for me. 1st edition M1 is the only non-Titleist item in the bag. I've wanted to go back to Titleist but they were always too spinny for me. Thinking about making the switch back with the 917

I played the 910D2 with kiyoshi purple for a few years before getting fit for the 917D2 with rogue silver. I picked up a few yards and kept the same control. D3 got me a little more distance but really lost distance on mishit.

Picked one up a few weeks back 9.5. It came with a Fuji Pro vista 75 stiff. 1st time out I popped my Aldila Tour Blue stiff in it and hit it great, next time out the fuji, obviously 2 different animals, high and right all day, last time out tour blue, C2 and draw weight...absolute fairway finder! With this setting the ball flight was pearcing, long and straight. Great feeling and great sound. Felt better than my 915d2
Now I'm sure tomorrow it'll be a nightmare

Went D3 and love it. Was not a fan of the shape of the D2 and I always fit into lower spin heads. Almost as straight as the Fly Z which was a fairway finder, but quite a bit longer due to reduced spin. Love the sound and feel.

Interesting... I was hitting the D3 in the bay the other day and I was surprised at how easy it was to hit straight.  Easier than the D2 was for me which I found really weird.  I love the look of it, feel was a little harder than the D2, maybe the KK ini shaft in the D3???  It still has me thinking of trading the G400 back in but my SS with the Ping is 3-4 mph faster.... hard to leave that.  Ball speeds were only 1-2 mph faster with the G400 though....  D3 definitely has my interest.

Iíve never had my D3 on a launch monitor and really donít care about numbers.  Itís plenty long and a fairway finder.

I found it by accident.  I was hitting Epic subzero at an outdoor fitting this spring at miles of golf in Cincinnati and not loving it.  Tried 3 different shafts. No thanks. No love.

Fitter on a whim gave me a D3 in fuji tour spec and immediately fell in love. Love sound, love shape, Love ball flight. Credit card. Done.

Only got better 2 months later when I was goofing around like a true mental WRXer and tried a Kuro Kage dual core 70tx.  Lowered flight and spin a bit. Bingo!   Awesome.  Has stayed in bag all year.

P.s.  I hot melt all my heads because I play my driver at 43.5Ē.  Sounds even better with hot melt. Toned down the pitch a little.

Were you hitting the two drivers at the same length?  The reason I ask is because the Ping is stock 45.75" and the Titleist is stock 45".  .75" doesn't sound like a lot but you would definitely pick up some swing speed, maybe even as much as 3-4 mph.  I noticed an increase when I switch to the G400 from a 45" shafted driver.
