Seems like you've got it backwards.  Look forward to hearing your experience.

I will share more as I get it in hand and experience.

I was initially looking for swing speed radar but came across with Blast.  I read small article about it on Golf magazine in which lotta top coaches use and endorse.  Then I found this deal I cannot miss on ebay.

Its a sensor you put on your club. Kind of like a Zepp.

I have a Blast Motion Sensor and have used it to improve my putting tempo.  I have also used it to to see how much my putter face is open or closed at impact. Has a lot of metrics than you can use to examine your putting stroke and full swing.  Haven't used it much with full swing.  The thing I like most is that it gives you immediate feedback while working with the various metrics. Took all of my "former" putters and made some strokes with Blast sensor attached to each and was able to figure out which one I was able to make the most consistent and best stroke with.

have you tried it during a round in off-line mode?

I have one and love it. I use it frequently to maintain/measure tempo, backswing length and impact speed and it excels on all counts. The android software is also excellent now.

I don't trust any of these devices for face angles/rotation etc because the tolerances are so small in putting.

Offline mode works well and I use it for 'blind' practise regularly to see if I am sticking to my timing when I don't have the instant feedback.

I just got the package but the unit had to be charged.  Done overnight.

I will get it to work tonight or tomorrow.  Can't wait.

Besides the wireless charger works for my Samsung phone.  It now is on my bedside.

I’ve played around with it but like most tech devices, the thrill wears off after a couple wks and then gets shelved. Was also a pain in the neck on certain putters where it was very spotty about the connection between cell phone app and the device.

I initially had firmware upgrade issue.  But once I reset the sensor, it started working flawlessly.

One thing found is that the video function does not work on my Samsung Note 8 but my old Samsung Note 5.

I was only able to use it for putting only since I have to hit ball to get the stat and I do not have time to go the range.  it is amazing to see the flaws in my putting swing from timing, lie angle, loft angle, clubface angle and etc. For full swing, I will game on Wednesday and will use "offline" mode.  I will report it then.

Yesterday, I had rare chance to go to range and tested full swing mode.  Prior to the testing, I added my driver, 8 iron and wedge.  Unfortunately, Blast Golf does not have my driver (Mizuno JPX-900) and wedge (Mizuno T7) on their database.  But I used JPX-EZ spec which I think are the same.

Connection was once again so easy.  You put the sensor on and swing.  There it goes.

Swing Speed on Driver seemed to be quite low.  It was registering 90 - 96 mph.  I usually am at 100 - 105.  But it recorded other useful data such as backswing & follow-thru time, tempo, AoA, etc.

For wedge and 8 iron, it only recorded limited database such as SS, backswing, follow-thru, and tempo.   But still useful enough.

Here are some screenshots from putting practice.

Blast golf emphasizes on tempo, especially backstroke timing.  It encourage 0.6 second long back stroke and 0.3 second long forward stroke regardless of putting distance. Thus you have 2:1 ratio.  It collects and stores data by time frame (day/week/month) so you could track your progress.

Also, it tracks
  • Lie Angle - increase or decrease in the lie (angle between shaft and ground) between the start of the stroke and impact with the ball; 0 is ideal
putting lie change month.jpg
  • Loft Angle - increase or decrease in the lie (angle of putter relative to the vertical plane) between the start of the stroke and impact with the ball; pushing will decrease the loft and puling will increase the loft; 0 is ideal
putting loft change month.jpg
  • Rotation Change - difference in angle between the start of the stroke and impact with the ball; 0 is ideal
