Curious if many other people buy a lot of their golf clothing on eBay? I've started doing this a lot in the past year or so and if you know your brands and sizes you can get some truly incredible deals. I'd never consider paying retail in golf stores or pro shops ever again unless there was a course specific item I was willing to be price gouged to have. I've bought both new and used stuff for a fraction of what they retail for in lots of different "high-end" brands.

All the time.  If you know your size you can get great deals.  I've bought a ton of Polo RLX's for under $25 in the last few years along with a few Maide pants for $30.

A bunch of my golf clothes have come from eBay. It's much cheaper once you know what size you need in the particular brand.

I buy pretty much all of my golf clothing on eBay. Like everyone else said, once you know the sizes you wear in a particular brand, its much easier and cheaper to find what you need on eBay. Plus you don't have to go all the way to a store.

Completely agree with OP. Only time I've paid retail for a polo or any golf apparel was at the Masters a couple years ago. Don't mind paying sticker price if you're at Augusta.

Absolutely, you can find pretty good buys there but need to keep looking though.  Might not be the latest clothing line released but you can certainly find last year's models brand new and still in the packaging for a lot less than a store's prices.

I have bought several articles from eBay. Usually it takes patience to get a good deal on a specific item, but if you are willing to continually browse, you can find great deals.

I've purchased several pieces from ebay. I will always search for NWT (new with tags) so I know I can get a full life from the product.  I've purchased Zero Restriction rain suits (jacket and pants) for myself and wife for under $150 per suit. That's where I've found the Mizuno Windlite sweaters too. Never had a problem.

Certainly a risk of counterfeit for certain more prominent brands I suppose (Nike etc.) I generally stick with more under the radar brands which potential counterfeiters would have no interest in mass producing or faking because the market isn't big enough. I have absolutely no doubts that what I've purchased NWT is authentic.

To your point though... I would NEVER.. EVER.. buy clubs on ebay. That is unquestionably a market for fools.

I've bought plenty of Nike golf apparel from eBay and have never once questioned the authenticity. Granted most of those purchases came from users who are online "golf shops" and have a crazy amount of positive feedback. Generally eBay is always cheaper. Being in NY it saves me the tax, and usually most have shipping included. Ebay is great for past season items as well, at least when it comes to Nike.

Maybe if you're buying brand new items for less than half of MSRP and it's being shipped from China...then yeah, they're probably fakes.

But I buy my shirts pre-owned and used from private sellers just trying to get rid of extra clothes. I don't think many people are going to wear counterfeit items for a year, then post them for other people to buy and wear after.

Honestly, ebay is where the majority of my golf apparel comes from. Especially when stuff is being moved to make room for the next season.

Hereís a point to ponder: itís a shirt, does it REALLY matter if itís not ďauthenticĒ? Itís fabric sewn in a pattern. If you like said pattern, and can get it for next to nothing, whatís the issue?

This.

Iím guessing the poster that made the ďauthenticĒ post was doing so tongue-in-cheek. If not, yikes.

But what if those performance fabrics donít perform? :) Itís still a good looking shirt.

Though, I will say this. Last year I went to a high school
BBall game with my son and two of his friends. One of his friends saw a girl wearing a Bape hoodie, knew it was a fake, and called her out on it.

It got really close to a fight when she called some guys over that she knew to ďdiscussĒ this with him. As the only adult near by I was thinking WTF?

I know nobody in my foursome will ďtag checkĒ me and call me out on my fake LaCoste polos. :)

As an add for my sonís friend, heís a good looking, fashionable guy and ended up getting her number. Weird turn of events.

Would argue that it does actually matter. I'm not worried about the shirt being "authentic" so I can show off the logo or pattern. The single reason I prefer certain brands over others (especially in golf apparel which caters to the "Trash Bag Cut") is because of the way they fit. If the item is actually a fake, it will not fit how I want it to. Give me a fake that fits and feels exactly like the real one and that's just fine by me. Not hating on those who are just looking for "fabric sewn in a pattern", I'm just more concerned with fit / feel and that generally can't be copied by counterfeiters. It'd be too expensive and time consuming.
