He doesnít want to cut spin. He likes launching it low with higher than optimal spin.

Based on his comments below it appears to be Callaway.

http://www.asapsport...w.php?id=135816

Q. Changing equipment, which is the most difficult club to get right in the bag?
SERGIO GARCIA: I would say probably the most difficult thing to kind of fit into your game would be the golf ball when you play with a golf ball for quite a while.

You know, what we've been testing, the numbers have been really good with the balls that Callaway has brought to me. Now it's just a matter of trying it on the golf course and trying it on tournament play, and seeing how it reacts and seeing how it feels. Then if there's any changes that need to be made, then we have time in the off-season to get it sorted out. Hopefully we won't have to.

I doubt the Adidas contract is going anywhere.  Hes a great representative of the brand and has been for a long time.  He has always been more Adidas than TM, with the Adidas bag instead of the TM one.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually MORE than half.  Best explanation I heard was that the guys can achieve optimal spin numbers with the regular Epic (combined with the right shaft).  So really no need for the lower spinning subzero head for most.  They also probably like the ability to have a little more directional control.

I wonder if Sergio's still in trial stages of equipment and no real contract has been signed since it hasn't been announced by Callaway just yet.   Don't get me wrong, the signs definitely point toward Callaway, but as we've seen in the past, nothings official until it is....

Brilliant. FINALLY win your first major then go switch not only all the clubs, but brand as well. Hopefully he doesn't pull a Jason Day and sign some huge endorsements and essentially farm it in and give half effort. I believe Sergio has more pride than that.

Sergio launches it fairly low so a bit more spin helps him keep it airborne. I know he likes to work the ball a bit with the driver too so thereís another potential reason to go Epic over Epic SZ.

I said it since day one. He was always Adidas's baby and TM clubs just came along with that. For all we know, he hated TM clubs and TM hated working with him. We know how picky he is with his equipment and maybe he drove the guys in the truck crazy and treated them poorly. Moral of the story, there is so much we don't know. Including myself, so all of that was hypothetical. Warrick, you're right about it had to start somewhere but it's not far-fetched to believe that in the end it was mutual. Too many people discount the fact that he always had an Adidas staff bag, Adidas logo on the front of his hat with subsequent TM side logos and then judge this split from the wrong perspective. It's really not a big deal.

REALLY?!?!  Wow....never thought I'd see that...Nippon can't be too pumped about that.....having two of the worlds best ball strikers using them was a good look (Stenson and Garcia).

Sergio is up there with Phil in terms of tinkering.  Wins the Masters with Spider red; changes to black.....  really fun for us equipment nerds to watch, though!

Would LOVE to get my hands on a Toulon ATL.....such a great shape.

To all that were curious, he's definitely playing the Project X LZ in his irons this week

I'm surprised Sergio isn't testing the new stepless prototype Nippon recently came out with on Tour.  It's supposed to be similar to PX which is what Sergio used prior to the Modus 130.

Like others have mentioned, really interested in what ball he is playing at Dubai
Based on his comments below it appears to be Callaway.

Paused the telecast while watching last night when they zoomed in on one or Sergio's chip's, Callaway logo on the ball.

Might be the next version of the Chrome Soft X.

For a guy who says he is still testing, he played well at Dubai.

That is very interesting, has been in the 130x Modus for a while.  I am guessing 6.5LZ?  Do they make a 7.0 LZ?

There is a 7.0 on tour only.  Don't know which he has.  But I've tested the 6.5 against the 130x.nippon.  And it's so similar that it's an easy swap back and forth.  No doubt in my kind px used Nippon feel and Launch as a template for the LZ.

Brilliant. FINALLY win your first major then go switch not only all the clubs, but brand as well. Hopefully he doesn't pull a Jason Day and sign some huge endorsements and essentially farm it in and give half effort. I believe Sergio has more pride than that.
Maybe it wasn't his idea?

Not sure the new model is on the approved ball list yet
