Sorry if this was posted...couldn't find anything though.

I LOVE the European tour...LOVE.  One of my favorite things is that they are NOT trying to be the PGA tour.  They are comfortable with who they are and try to be the best at that.  They hold events in places that you would never think to be possible and let fans get super close and personal.  I know it's not as easy to do this here in the US and the galleries are much larger here than on Euro tour (outside of actual Continental Europe) but I still think the PGA Tour needs to take a lesson or two from the Euros when it comes to Pre tournament ideas.  It is such a much more relaxed environment before the Tournament starts and the Pros are having a lot more fun. The fans are as well.  Take for example this video.  It doesn't disrupt the pros week, doesn't take away from the tournament and what they are playing for and gets fans involved in a really fun, self deprecating way.

in all honesty this has me rolling...Not sure who was funniest. Martin Kaymer with the eye stretches and finger tip stretches or the Captain Morgan move. Then Padraig who crushes things like this. watching him hover around while the guy or lady tried to hit doing what looked like some ballerinas breathing technique. HILARIOUS.  Watch the whole thing.

I love the European Tour as well.  I watched a lot of it at 4 a.m. the last couple years during my kid's "infant stages."

Kaymer is really funny.  I used to think he was a robot until I saw a video of him and his caddie doing a witb.

Generally I think the ET videos are usually very good but for me they missed the mark with this one.

I don't think making fans the butt of the joke is the way to go. I sense Westwood got that feeling too when he said "Don't punch me".

+1

I am over the "pranking" trend.

It's only good if you're the prank-er and not the prank-ee.

Geesh guys. my post wasn't advocating pranking, I was just trying to highlight the difference in both tours and how one seems so regimented and unbendable while the other seems to capture what they are there to do. ENTERTAIN.  Most people enjoy a good laugh, were they shocked or maybe even embarrassed? maybe, but what they will walk away with is a story that they can retell AND show people for a lifetime.  I am willing to bet not one of them will feel shame or "had".  Hell, most of them seemed confused in the first place like " is this guy serious? ".  As for Lee...have we known him to be someone that is quick to cut up or have a wind up? no. It was seriously refreshing to see a couple of these guys open up and show a side the cameras don't normally catch.  I will never forget in 2005 ( I believe or 2004). I was at the Qatar Masters and walked with Darren Clarke, Miles Tunnicliff and Henrik Stenson in the first two rounds.. I was the ONLY one in their gallery!!! LITERALLY the ONLY PERSON.  They laughed and had a good time. They talked with each other AND ME like it was just some bloaks out for a round.  Darren smoked everything under the sun that day and Miles' caddy almost wet himself when Darren pulled out a Sherlock Holmes pipe on the 16th fairway and lit it up. We all had a good laugh.  Try to understand what I'm highlighting not just look to criticize the actions of some pros that someone else created and asked them to do

Edit: That same tournament I stood on the range next to Vijay Singh and watched him berate his caddy ,while he practiced, so horribly I had to walk away.  I couldn't believe someone could speak to another human in that fashion and all he was asking him to do was tell him if the ball was in his stance in a certain place. if the guy spoke up to tell him then  Vijay jumped his a$$ for talking, if he didn't speak up he ripped into him for not doing what he asked. I walked off and have never looked at that guy the same. ever.

I'm 100% sure none of those guests felt offended or upset after this video, they had a one on one experience with some of the best players in the world who were themselves acting foolish...

It's just a bit of fun, lets all lighten up a little shall we? I'm sure they had their serious lesson with the respective pro off camera.

Harrington is loopy, and I love it, he was definitely my favorite of the bunch!

" yes yes but I'm not hitting the ball "

Priceless. That plus the clumps of grass covering the ball. Wow !

Harrington walking around doing the breathing technique as she stood over the ball/grass had me in tears. Harrington is hilarious

I get your drift, OP.  They certainly do do it better over there, I think.  The European Tour knows it needs to make a bigger effort to market itself and to separate itself from the US side of the game, and it does it well.  The camaraderie is tangible.  I'd play the Euro Tour if I had a choice, personally.
