I haven't owned a TM club in years because I find their marketing dept to be wayyy over the top and product life cycles absurd, but with this story that solidifies me never owning TM, ever.

So do you own or play any Callaway clubs, because they are a lot worse these days.

Clean up aisle 4.

Had to hide a bunch of posts. Please stay on topic.

NOW it's a TM Pre-Release thread!!   :cheesy:

Seriously, interested in what's different with this one.  The casual consumer in me is very skeptical with these past few TM releases looking so similar.

For some reason, I find you being a casual consumer very skeptical.   :busted_cop:

It will be the same as basically every driver release...a slightly more forgiving version then prior versions.  That isn't to say I don't look forward to some of the new releases, especially cause I struggle hitting driver so much.

Hammerhead technology? The M4 has a hammer head but without much technology in it.

Actually, more than you think!...There's a rumor that M4's 'hammer' is filled with 'speed foam'.. :taunt:

And I'm not kidding about that rumor!.. :no2:

Lol! Hammer heads have technology, foam has speed. What next?

All kidding aside, all the OEMs come up with these "catchy" names to ensnare the buying public. If the club doesn't give the golfer a legitimate 15 to 20 yards, then he might as well stick with what he has.

What else should they do? If Ron Swanson made golf clubs the driver would just be called “Driver.” It would only come in extra stiff because only real men play the “Driver” by Swanson Golf.

I wasn't suggesting they stop...only that they come up with better names. :-)

Perhaps it's just me, but a tag line like "hammer head technology" amuses me more than anything else. Just as did "jail break technology".

I will start this by saying I have never been a TM or Callaway guy but I do sell the product, would be stupid not too. I have now seen and tested this driver and had a good honest no holds barred chat with my rep around it. The rumour is this technology was ready last year and M1/2 2017 nearly didn't happen but TM held off because of the impending sale as they wanted to make a huge impact and really nail this release of the new driver with new owners.
As much as I don't want to say it, I believe this driver could be the best I have seen from TM since the old 500 series. My level of commitment on stock to hold is almost double last year by my choice not due to any deals or kick backs, in fact my rep tried to talk me off ordering as much as I have due to our past history of ordering. I have cut back on other companies as I wasn't as impressed with their products so I don't want to be caught short when this hits.
Don't be fooled by what you read from the negative people or the TM junkies here, take it from an old crusty pro who has seen it all and tested it all for the last 20 years this product is quality and might upset the industry a bit.

I have been reading these forums for the last few years and have to laugh at all the speculation and nonsense that appears on here. Until you get the product in your hand you will never know how it will work for you. It only matters how the face performs and the look at address for me. I have never, well tried to never, hit shots with the bottom of the club so who cares what it looks like underneath.
The best products I have seen/sold in the last 5 years
Driver - M2 last year
Irons - AP2 any version
Wedges -  vokeys any version
Ball - TP5x closely followed by supersoft Callaway
Bag - Callaway forester

I'm not going to pass on more info than that, I have my opinions from my experience in retail and golf, and as I respect all my reps and the information they give me if feel I owe it to them not to go into technical details.

Where you able to see/hit the new M3 as well?  Or is your raving review for the M4 only?

Hmm, is the major improvement in ballspeed or foregiveness?

Or perhaps it’s a little of both...

Why would Taylormade not release it before the sale of the company to boost numbers and thus sale price?  I don't buy the notion Taylormade wanted the new owners to nail their first release unless there was some kind of claw back provision in the sale agreement.

Those in the business will swear Titleist is the best. Others say it's Ping. Still others say TM, or Callaway. All the OEM's make quality gear (they have to in order to stay in business). At the end of the day it comes down to what equipment best suits your game along with  personal preference. What works for one person, may not work for another.

Leave it to Sean to ruin the party with some logical wisdom. There's no place for that here, buddy!

Any idea on a release date?

I'm pretty excited about this one since it's not white. In the past the M2 didn't make it in my bag because the white didn't suit my eye, but I'm hoping the silver is dark enough so that it does not bother me.

It's interesting to watch the manufacturers coalesce around tech that actually works (albeit in small ways), like slots, aerodynamics, and clubhead structural rigidity.

If you can't beat 'em, rebrand it and join 'em, I guess.

That is a very strong first post.  Please tell us more.....

Ap2...really?  May I suggest a Mizuno iron if you have time?!

Any improvement on ball speed etc etc. Since the control of the drivers performance by the authorities, then the answer will be a resound NO.

It does make me chuckle when I read all the excitement of yet another so so so similar driver.

If I'd just bought the latest M2, I'd feel a little pissed about now.

You're assuming all drivers to be at 257 CT, which they are not.

Improved aerodynamics do help a little bit, no getting around it.
