What are some good times when you've seen people drip some tour sauce before the ball stops, and it ends up in a bad place? I was playing last weekend with a guy who hit a 7 iron off a par 3 and instantly said "be right" he even TWIRLED THE CLUB while the ball was still in the air. It dropped about 10 yards short of the green.

Seems like a little bit much. I'll be honest, every once in a while I think I hit a beaut into the green, just to see the distance control be crap.

I definitely don't twirl the club though as I'm doing it.

LOL, my reply would have been, "Okay there, Bubba."

It was hard not to laugh...luckily it was on hole 13 so we were already friendly with each other at that point :taunt:

I usually only tour sauce on horrible shots! Because I hit good shots so few and far between I am in shock.

Tough one.

Given that the ratio of swag:tour sauce is approximately 3:1 you'd have to do a little math to determine staleness which is of course determined by the equation Swing (or cut) x Reaction / proximity to the hole - wind gusts/bad breaks adjusted for "bro can you believe that bounce?"

Assuming the number of swooshes on the Tour Sauce hopeful is greater than or equal to 5 we can assume that as long as the cut is pure it should offset any weather conditions or potential interference from "haters" and absolutely butter knife that flag bruh. At that point, any staleness can be assumed to be the result of being totally wiped from last night's 3$ Jager Bomb special at Club Rumor. But it's chill because he got digits from the hottest chick there.

I'm the opposite. I go full Hideki out there. Going for the green in 2 on a par 5? I'll one-hand finish the follow through, if not drop the club all together. Then the ball will end up on the putting surface and I'll just look like an a******.

Not always JUST that specific going for a par 5 in 2 scenario, but I tend to overreact when I feel I've hit a bad shot...and it always ends up way better than expected.

Word. Went into Spieth mode on a ten footer Sunday that I thought I left out to the right. Had my hand out to the left and everything, then it catches lip and curls in.

I'm bad for that pretty often. One of my last rounds this year, I even dropped an F-bomb immediately after hitting a 10 foot putt... of course it goes right in the center of the hole, couldn't have been rolled any better. LOL

Today I had around 115m to a back to front sloping green and an uphill lie. I knew my wedge wouldn't get me there off that lie so I took 9 iron and gripped down a little. It came straight off the button and rocketed directly towards the flag.. with what I thought was too much heat.
I yelled out " BITE ,BITE ..spin back!".
It landed around 20feet short of the pin and sucked back right off the front of the green.
I certainly got the bite I asked for.

That's been me too many times...opt to lay off the longer club as opposed to going nuts out on the shorter club, end up a full club short.

Speaking of a full club short, during the same round I had an approach around 125m to a front pin location. I hit a great shot just right of the flag which I was staring down with pride as it descended.
It landed at least 10m short of the green. I said to my playing partner " hmm , I thought I hit that great,I thought 9 was enough".
As i turned the club upside down to return it to the bag I notice quite clearly that it had PW stamped on it.

Myself.

Playing a course with my uncle and it had poured the last few days prior. I flushed a lob wedge from the fairway that sent out a blown tractor-trailer tire's worth of turf and was aimed right at the pin. The ball is still airborne and I tell my uncle something like "I might spin that one right off the green". Unfortunately for me, the ball came down from orbit and nearly plugged into the sopping wet green with a distinct "SLAP" noise. The spin I put on it gave the ball just enough juice to insultingly unplug itself with a lazy, sideways 'plop' right next to the crater I made in the green. On cue my uncle says, "hey, uhhh, Don, uhhh, I think it's still on the green."

A bag of left-handed junk

Depends on what kind of player you are, if you're a great putter/short game but terrible iron player, you could be under 10 and still prematurely twirl

I know a guy who does the club slide on any semi-good shot and his swag to tour sauce ratio is approximately 1: 10,000. I can't give a guy "swag" points who wears striped shirts, plaid pants, no belt and rolled down high socks. A full-on neckbeard also drops the "swag" points considerably. HIs club slide is on point though :taunt:

Also, whenever my dad is having a semi-good round going, he basically turns into Jordan with how much he talks to his ball. It never listens, but he still talks to it

I had one that listened today. It was missing the green left for sure and my friend said " work right " . Sure enough it started to work back toward the green and left me a birdie putt which I then missed, which left me a 2 footer for par which I somehow also missed. I guess my friend didn't have time to talk to the ball on the 2 footer.

I've definitely gone both ways. Quick walk in disgust on an 8 footer I'm sure that I've yanked only to watch it drop and I get to stand there like an idiot. Also have done the walking/stare down/club twirl only to watch my ball sail over the green, also making me look like an idiot.

Moral of the story - generally tour sauce makes you look like an idiot.

The only problem is that the player you described is a unicorn on WRX. Nobody's long game is holding them back around here, no sir. We're all tour level ball strikers whose short game is the only thing holding us back from or Web.com debut. Therefore, I believe most WRX's (having a long game handicap near scratch) are eligible for the aforementioned "club twirl/tour sauce" and so on and so fourth.

I love doing the “GET IN THE HOLE!!” when someone hits a shot that’s about 40-50 yards left or right of the green

if there is a hack in my group getting down because of terrible play, I'll call out "DRAINO" any time one of their putts sniff the hole before dropping, then act surprised it missed and tell say "man that was tracking right in at 4 feet".

In Australia we call that whinge and win. I've been guilty more than once 😄

When someone hits a putt that has no chance, mishit, etc. I love saying "Man, how did that NOT go in??"

always tell them “if you can look past speed and direction, that was a great putt”, lol.

That was a good decision to lay up. From that lie? Smart golf.
