Agreed!

There are European tour events that have fewer players that offer points.

Which ones?
The Nedbank Challenge in South Africa used to give out world ranking points when they only had 12 players. The Nedbank then expanded their field to 30 and it is now part of the Race To Dubai. 70+ players.

http://www.owgr.com/...px?eventid=4645
http://www.owgr.com/...spx?eventid=816 - This is from 1990. 10 players. Only 8 received points.
http://www.owgr.com/...spx?eventid=477 - From 1988. 8 players. Only 6 received points.

The old World Match play on the European Tour had 12 players in the event but only awarded points to the top 8 in the event.

http://www.owgr.com/...px?eventid=2149
http://www.owgr.com/...px?eventid=1591
http://www.owgr.com/...spx?eventid=448 - This one is from 1988.

Tigers event only started awarding rankings points in 2009. His event went many years before it was approved for it.

Thanks. Interesting stuff. I knew about the old Nedbank, but didn't know about the older ones.

Frankie what do you actually think TW will do in this event?  Not what do you hope will happen but when you're having an honest moment, how do you think he will perform and just getting through all 4 rounds is a win in my book?

DFL. I want four clean rounds without any stiffness. Being sore is ok. Stiffness, no.

You'd think he'd have played enough golf prior to the event to be through the soreness and hopefully he's on a stretching regimen to deal with the stiffness. But...playing 4 rounds is a start and a win.

Tournament golf is a way different animal than playing for casual rounds in a row. Stiffness is the only worry.

If Tiger plays level par or better for all our days that will be a huge success.

Post op, if he has any residual stiffness, i would treat the scar tissue, and check his motor patterns to see if all his muscles are activated, but his posture needs to be corrected to address the root cause of his injuries, which unfortunately i don't think that has been done since he has the same posture as before : hyperlordosis and kyphosis, hence his underdeveloped chest.

Like when he had inactive glutes, which is common with back issues and after back surgery. They are inhibited by the lack of movement which all started with spasms.

Kinda surprised that Bsc has not taken offense with the title of this thread.  IF??  :)   How about "When"!?!  I am just hoping for good health from Tiger.  He used to say-well Nike did-that winning takes care of everything.  Change that to good health takes care of everything for his new slogan.

Should Tiger get good again, his ranking is only really relevant to the US Open and WGCs. Any other event he wants to play, he gets an invite if he's 100 or 1100.

Lifetime exemptiion for reg tour events, no?

Yes, but I don't think it includes the Players or the CIMB or the Korea event (could be mistaken) and of course the playoffs. And if I recall correctly, the lifetime exemption category isn't high enough on the priority list to guarantee entrance into every event. But these are largely theoretical considerations. Of course he'll get a sponsor's invite to Memorial, Bay Hill, etc for as long as he wants.
The lifetime exemption category (#18) is actually a good one. It's higher on the priority rankings than players that are exempt due to finishing in the top 125 in the Fed Ex Cup standings (#19). Tiger will never need a sponsors invite to Memorial, Bay Hill, et al while playing out of category 18 if he is not exempt otherwise. Of course the WGCs/Playoffs are a different story.

https://www.pgatour....ty-ranking.html
Thanks for this link.  I wondered how this ranking worked for a long time.  Surprised to Furyk playing out of category 33.  Guess he will be relying on sponsors invites.

Its shameful. Only awarded because TW had a hard time getting a decent field in California
Doing a little better in The Bahamas, but can't afford to drop the points. He deserves a lot,
but this is a little much.

Well there are 48 other events during the season that offer fedex points.  For every event like this or the WGC's there is usually a Barbasol or Puerto Rico Open for the other guys to play in and earn points.  If anyone is complaining maybe they should raise their game high enough in the OWGR to warrant an invite.  Yeah I know Tiger is down in the rankings now but if it wasn't for him the purses would be nowhere near where they are now.  We diehard golf fans don't want to admit it but who was going to carry the banner for the PGA during those Tiger years...Phil, Els, DL3 or Vijay were not going to bring in the same ratings.  Not close.

EDIT: NVM.  I just checked the PGA schedule on their site and it appears neither the Hero or the QBE offer any fedex points although I am assuming they will still effect a player's OWGR.

Depends what is stiff, and why it's stiff. Joints/capsule can be stiff which is entirely different than a "Stiff" muscle, which just means its a little shortened (which stretching will help).

For joint/capsule stiffness (say impingement) you'll need to consult a physical therapist.
