So back to OP's question we have 140 or 240?

140 would be the accurate one.   Hed have 48-49 points and minimum divisor is 40.  So 1.20-1.22 is a good bet and in the 140ish realm.

Using Hideki's winning points allocation from the 2016 Hero, Tiger's average OWGR points would rise to 0.78025 which would see him rise to #240...also known as 2 spots behind Arnold Palmer's grandson Sam Saunders.
Hideki got 46 world ranking points last year for winning this event. So in the highly unlikely event Tiger wins he would have approximately 48ish world rankings points. Divided by 40 events (minimum OWGR divisor) his average points would be 1.20ish and that would place him around #140 in the rankings.

The winner!

We have two, not sure which of them did it right and assume each thinks he did.  So . . . . . . . maybe one will chime back in with why his are THE correct figures.
I laid out the calculation in my original post. It was backed up by iteachgolf. :)

Agreed. It's impossible to imagine the USGA not inviting him to 2019 at Pebble, and almost as impossible to imagine them not inviting him to Torrey in 2021.
Assuming he wants to play, of course.

His Players exemptions run out after this season too. I'm not sure if the Tour has a precedent of special exemptions.

Yes, but I don't think it includes the Players or the CIMB or the Korea event (could be mistaken) and of course the playoffs. And if I recall correctly, the lifetime exemption category isn't high enough on the priority list to guarantee entrance into every event. But these are largely theoretical considerations. Of course he'll get a sponsor's invite to Memorial, Bay Hill, etc for as long as he wants.

The lifetime exemption category (#18) is actually a good one. It's higher on the priority rankings than players that are exempt due to finishing in the top 125 in the Fed Ex Cup standings (#19). Tiger will never need a sponsors invite to Memorial, Bay Hill, et al while playing out of category 18 if he is not exempt otherwise. Of course the WGCs/Playoffs are a different story.

Cool, thank you for the correction and link. I guess he's also got some category 17 exemptions for Memorial and Bay Hill, too?
Not sure about the "same tournament sponsor" part.

17. Past champions of the particular event being contested that week, if cosponsored by the PGA TOUR and the same tournament sponsor, as follows
A. Winners prior to July 28, 1970: unlimited exemptions for such events.
B. Winners after Jan. 1, 2000: five seasons of exemptions for such events.

Well, we were all informed by a few posters in the other threads that a top 10 at the Hero would be meaningless so I guess a win would not matter either.

Which ones? (Assuming you actually mean OWGR points)

The Nedbank used to be a 12-man event, but isn't anymore. That was even dumber than Tiger's event, although it didn't feature the laughable hypocrisy of the host giving himself a special invite to his own event.

It seems like they don't play them anymore. One was Volvo Match Play. The other was Nedbank. I thought there was still one or two being played? I thought for sure there was one last year in November?

The Nedbank Challenge in South Africa used to give out world ranking points when they only had 12 players. The Nedbank then expanded their field to 30 and it is now part of the Race To Dubai. 70+ players.

http://www.owgr.com/...px?eventid=4645
http://www.owgr.com/...spx?eventid=816 - This is from 1990. 10 players. Only 8 received points.
http://www.owgr.com/...spx?eventid=477 - From 1988. 8 players. Only 6 received points.

The old World Match play on the European Tour had 12 players in the event but only awarded points to the top 8 in the event.

http://www.owgr.com/...px?eventid=2149
http://www.owgr.com/...px?eventid=1591
http://www.owgr.com/...spx?eventid=448 - This one is from 1988.

Tigers event only started awarding rankings points in 2009. His event went many years before it was approved for it.

I think that FedEx cup points are rewarded for this event is bogus. Only 20 players?

Agreed!

There are European tour events that have fewer players that offer points.

Which ones?

It seems like they don't play them anymore. One was Volvo Match Play. The other was Nedbank. I thought there was still one or two being played? I thought for sure there was one last year in November?

Frankie what do you actually think TW will do in this event?  Not what do you hope will happen but when you're having an honest moment, how do you think he will perform and just getting through all 4 rounds is a win in my book?

He'll probably fall off the motorcycle they give him for winning, and hurt his back, again...
