I understand why tour pro's have backup sets its their job. How they earn a living.  Can understand to a point why some adults do it, although not completely. But why would a junior need a backup set? Especially younger ones talking under 10 here. For those that do please educate me on why your junior has a backup set or even a backup putter?

Itís not necessary, and certainly not for young kids.  And most pros may have a handful of back up drivers at home but they donít travel with them.  I donít think a single pro I teach actually has a full backup set at home.

People have varying levels of wealth and for some the incremental cost may be de minimis to them, while they may place significant value on the convenience (particularly if they have multiple homes/clubs)

I know of one kid that plays out of the PNW that also flies down to play the LA tour and he has an extra set that the local tournament director hauls around for him.

The only reason I can think of having a backup set is if you have very custom clubs for a junior or if there left handed because they simply do not stock left handed clubs in a  lot places.

We have a few sets at the house, but the only clubs that get interchanged are the irons.  He does have a duplicate putter.  One is a gamer and the other stays inside to use on the practice green.

not trying to be rude just to understand, but WHY do you have a duplicate putter? Understand having a lot of extra clubs.  I have a list to sell as it stands.

Long story, but the putter he was using got discontinued and he liked it a lot.  I found another on the cheap and bought it.  Also, my son used to bring his gamer putter inside to practice putting.  On two occasions he forgot the putter at home for a tournament round.  Now with duplicate putters we don't have to worry about leaving one at home anymore. :)

I can see a putter over all else due to that can be more of a lifetime club.

I should add considering what I just paid for a putter for her custom fit and all I would cry to buy back up at that. When did my junior get better gear than I do
