Heading up to Kohler for a boys trip in early June.  Four guys all barely in their 30's.  Looking for recommendations in terms of what to do for fun outside the resort.  Anything a must considering we're blowing off some steam and away from the family for a few days?

Don't laugh but the Kohler Design center is a great hour or two.  It showcases the latest designs for their products.  Just do not let your significant other see any pics from that or it will become a terribly expensive golf trip.

Milwaukee is only an hour away so you should be able to find something to do there. Might have the Brewers in town.

Eat cheese curds at the A&W!

Otherwise, not much in the immediate vicinity.    You could go to the Kohler museum and learn about toilets!   They do have casinos in the region.

Great call Jim.  You're in the room to shower and sleep and the Inn fits that nicely.

Eat Cheese curds and drink beer.  Had a golf trip there last year that was awesome.  Great courses, but nothing else to do.

We stayed at the American Club, FWIW.

There's not a lot to do in Kohler. The Horse and Plow is a pub at the resort, it's ok, serves it's purpose.  There's some local dives in Sheboygan, about 15 minutes away.

Make sure you eat at Trattoria Stefano in Sheboygan. Great little restaurant just north of Kohler. Maybe plan a day trip to Erin Hills? Only about an hour away and you could make a full day out of it. If you go that route make sure to have dinner on the back porch after the round(s). Great food and great spot for a meal.

A tip about playing the Kohler courses...play from the right T-box.  If you don't, not only will the courses eat you alive, but you will hate playing golf.  Period.

Play from the right t-box and you will have the time of your life....

Enjoy

Big Jimmy's.  Dive watering hole for locals.  Nothing nice about it whatsoever.  Fun place.

I believe you are thinking of Rocky Mountain Oysters which are not, in fact, oysters at all.

Have you ever notice that when people don't want you to know what you're eating they come up with some funky name?  Rocky Mountain Oysters, rumaki, pate?

The Kohler design center is a must see.  Sheboygan is three miles east and you can visit 3 Sheeps Brewing and hit some dive bars (Legend Larry's has great wings).  If you are fans of NFL football, Green Bay is an hour north and you can visit Lambeau Field and the Packer Hall of Fame (although I'm a Packer fan, I honestly believe any NFL fan would enjoy it).  Many good restaurants and breweries in the "Titletown District" going up around Lambeau Field. Oneida Casino is also in Green Bay.

Early June, there aren't as many festivals in Milwaukee as there are later in the summer.  If your group likes beer, I'd definitely recommend a Miller Brewery tour and then hit some craft breweries around the city.  But, at that time of year, unless you're into beer or seeing a Brewer game, I'd probably suggest taking a day to visit Green Bay.
They who are enamoured of practice
without knowledge are like the mariner
going to sea without a rudder or compass
and who navigates without a course.

Actually the Manitowoc Maritime Center is pretty cool as well if you're into submarines, etc.  But the reality from the OP sounds like you just need a great list of bars to blow off steam!
