I love seeing players emotional responses during golf tournaments, good or bad. I believe it really reflects how hard these guys work day in and day out to get where they are now. Like Kevin Chapel throwing his putter into the water during the 3rd round of the shriners hospital for children open and then having to putt with his SW for the remainder of the round. Yes its a tantrum, but its also an act of passion. And that's what this game is for all of us right? We love it just as much as they do and its nice to see they care.

If you don’t want your putter, give it to somebody in the crowd who’d probably love to have it. So, yeah, not a fan of the tantrums (the nuns would’ve beat ‘em).

Exactly. Nothing says Im a bad**s more than being worth a few million and throwing 1000$ putters you didnt pay for in the lake. Hand it to some kid in the stands and say maybe you can make something with this POS. That would be boss

Great, now it's a Tiger thread...  News flash...he wasn't the first, nor will he be the last to throw fits and cuss and spit.

My opinion is...Throw a fit, cuss and act like a brat...I don't really care it's just a reflection on you.  I draw the line a club throwing though. Throw a club and you could hurt someone.  I'll accept those things but I wont say that they are "good."  It's nice to see that the care but it would be nicer to see them act like professionals.

Exactly - Rory is the OWGR club jacking leader since Tiger's been on the shelf - let's get those threads going again!

OP - it's silly behavior and you shouldn't love it.

I dont mind a little emotion and anger. One of my favorites was Charley Hoffman tossing his putter in the pond at the Players after 3 putting from a ridiculous close range. Love the Hoff.

It's on YouTube but I'm too lazy to link right now.

Overall, I like when golfers show emotion, it makes them less robotic.  I'm also tired of using kids as the excuse of why they shouldn't show emotion.  Let's stop pretending kids all have virgin ears who never heard friends or family members cuss, never use the internet, don't listen to current music or watch cable television shows.

If a parent is that concerned a cuss word or temper tantrum is going to corrupt their kid, they should leave them home because the fans are going to say and do a lot worse than the golfers.

The ability to show true emotion is human.

The ability to control one's emotions under difficult circumstances is admirable.

I appreciate their talent, their fist-pumping outward excitement when they succeed, and their love for the game. I cannot appreciate when they set a bad example and embarrass themselves.

My point was that they're more likely to hear people in the the crowd cussing than a pro golfer.  If you want to shield them from cuss words, stuff their ears with headphones playing white noise.

Just because there is more of it in the crowd doesn't make it right.

Wouldn't it be better if we stopped condoning all such behavior in public? More civil as it were.

The foolish and wicked practice of profane cursing and swearing is a vice so mean and low that every person of sense and character detests and despises it.

Tiger's not the only one.

As for throwing clubs-- a club toss here or there is no big deal so long as it doesn't go into the crowd like Tiger's done a couple of times. I'd even describe it as mildly entertaining so long as it's infrequent. I also like it when the guy bent his putter over his head or snaps a club. I even like a periodic bag kick. Again as long as it's rare.

As for cussing, no problem with rare shizit or GD,  but no room for Fbombs or worse in front of crowds.

And he threw his clubs further, straighter and more consistent than anyone else. You would just see a wedge come flying out of a heavy brush or tree laden area and go zinging into a pond... and immediately  you knew... no one, I mean no one else could have pulled that off.

Rofl.

99% of every shot TW had ever hit has been televised and he has 50x the number of fans following.

Show *all* the players with that coverage and youd hear 200 Fbombs per round.

And if you mic up any kid over the age of 12, youd hear even more ; )

Show *all* the players with that coverage and youd hear 200 Fbombs per round.

And if you mic up any kid over the age of 12, youd hear even more ; )

Best thing to do with a club thrower is take the club, hit a decent shot with it, then hand it back to them, saying “nope, it’s you.”

Oh FFS, yeah there I said it. When Tommy Bolt did it it was celebrated. Now it's "oh the children". For those of you slamming Tiger let's ignore that fact that other players do the same. That is beside the point.
But.... Please ffs do not ever ever ever be hypocritical and swear around your children. EVER.  They'll learn it from you a hell of a lot faster than any athlete they are watching. And make sure you never ever ever let them watch television or listen to music. Most TV shows have much worse in every episode than you'll hear from any golfer. Music the same way.
Ear plugs, that's the ticket. And bubble wrap, lots and lots of bubble wrap to keep them insulated from the real world.
