I am hoping to get my fitting in but the PXG rep does outdoor fittings (which I MUCH prefer) and, being in Toronto, we are completely snow/ice covered at the moment. Going to be tough to get any fittings done in the next week or two up here...very frustrating I want to hit these things!

Shifting gears a tad....have yall seen the Gen2 on Ebay?  I knew people would be dumping these to basically get a set of free Gen1.  Free world I guess, but it's why I ranted against the offer for people just buying them.  I still feel like I should have had the same opportunity for the 175 deal.  Bought mine over a year ago btw.

Hope to get out tomorrow or Saturday to try these out.  Sim data in my bay on GCQuad looks great but feel is like butter compared to Epic and graphite shaft picked up a couple mph swing speed into low 90s 7i.

All golfers? Really? ROFL.

More like 1% of golfers, or the 1%ers who golf.

Definitely not my best day of ball striking but compared my new 311P against my old set of Epics (10 shots each deleted best and worst shot form both) on GCQUAD with pro v1. Same project X lz 6.0 but the PXG is graphite and the epic is Steel. Swing speed was basically the same as was the impact location (struggled with toe shots) all else being equal the pxg had 5 extra mph of ball speed and 7 more yards of distance dispite have more spin.  Pretty impressive.

Can anyone confirm if Mitsubishi OT shafts are included in the no upcharge category for Gen2 irons? Asking for a friend...

How do you like it? I was hitting it so well during my fitting.  I wanted the ADDI shaft but I was spinning it too much and had to go with a C Taper instead. Can't wait for it to get here.  I picked up a second iron set in the Gen 2 tours and took them out yesterday.  Love the weight of the heads as I can feel them throughout the swing.

Hit the new irons this week and they are outstanding. I am a Ping player but if I were in the market for new irons, I would consider these as a top option. Forgivable, good spin numbers and they do give confidence at address.

. A good fitting might do that, and I am told the fitting is exceptional (whatever that means).

It means that since you don’t know what an exceptional fitting is, your opinion isn’t worth much.

Is it $400/500 for the DI as well?    Was it an upcharge for the AD-DI ?

Swing safe!

Did a fitting today and thoroughly compared the gen 1 and gen 2.   Didnít see a noticeable improvement with the Gen 2 so went with the Gen 1.  XF in 4 and 5, regular 0311 in 6-p.  Saved a bit of money going gen 1 too.

Have now officially drunk the Kool Aid (apologies if this is a cultural misappropriation since I am not from the USA!).  Had a completely superb fitting here in the UK with Matt Straughan.

Learned a lot more about why certain club heads may or may not work for me and, notwithstanding my distinctly non-tour clubhead speed etc, was fitted in to the T model.  Basically with my angle of attack the extra bounce of the P caused me to hit it inconsistently up and down the face, whereas I could get to the sweet spot more often with the T.  Trackman and a top fitter together make a thing of wonder!

What impressed me most about these irons is how little the distance drops off from a toe strike (my more common miss, but I can miss them anywhere on the face).  Was observably getting only a few - and I mean 3-4 yards, confirmed by Trackman - drop off and the smash factor would drop from 1.35 to 1.32.  This means you are still putting rather than in the front bunker etc and this was the most seductive thing about the test.  For better ball strikers, I am sure there is b*gger all difference between dozens of irons out there.  If you consistently find the sweet spot (+/- a mm or two) then these can't really be worth it on 'normal' objective criteria.  Perversely, they are probably a big advantage to people like me who score in the low 80s and probably even more so for yet higher handicaps.  I didn't pick up much distance - these are only 1 degree stronger than my current set - 3-4 yards tops but I certainly gained from much reduced dispersion.

Also an instructive fitting to see how much even really small adjustments to shaft weight (keeping other things the same) would throw off my timing.  Moving up 7g in weight made a huge (negative) difference to my swing.

Now to decide on whether they are worth the upgrade, from my "Gen 2" Ping Ansers. Sadly, for my bank balance and because my last three iron sets have all been Ping and I am a relatively brand-loyal type, I think it may be.

I went through a fitter on Saturday 4/28.  Ordered probably Monday am 4/30.  Apparently they will be in their shop today 5/9.  And to me a few days thereafter.
