I've purchased and used hundreds of 5A Pro V1x balls. I've never noticed a problem with the performance of the balls. I tried some refinished of the same model and ran into problems with bad balls doing weird and unusual things off the driver club face. Won't go with refinished ever again.

I really think it's a mental thing, but if that affects you're play then it is worth to play the new ones. I'm sort of the opposite, I purchase 5 a balls from the used golf ball store close to home. I have never found one of these type all balls to have performance issues. With that in mind, I can keep my mental game in order with respect to use golf balls.

Yeah i really can't say a used ball made my game worse tbh, really the only thing that may be in my head is off the tee with them feel not as lovely but again i can't prove it but my brain says it's not as good as the new one lol

If you like a premium ball like the Titleist prov line, i have been quite happy with golf Galaxy maxfli u6 tour line, i wait and get the bogo $22.50  , so basically $12 bucks a dozen and for me they feel and act the same , and i know it a brand new unit ball so it takes my mental it off the used ball lol

This thread reminds me of my brother.  He asked me to get him some 5a e6s from LGB Wwhen I was ordering a mass quantity.  When the balls arrived, I inspected all of them and they looked flawless. When I gave my brother his dozen, he (of course) found a microscopic spot on 1 of the balls.

I knew his head was spinning so I told him to mix the 5a balls with his new e6 stash.  Heard nothing further which means he found no difference  - otherwise I would have heard from him.

That mental hurdle is a tough one to conquer.

For years just play the balls I find.  That being said, I just use the premium balls because I tend to find a lot of balls at my local course.  The refurbished balls I do not use the majority of the time.  Have had several of the refurbished balls that are "dead".  Always figure this due to being in the water for awhile.  However the refinished balls tend to be OK the vast majority of the time.  Like I said, I find a lot of balls.  Been over 10 years since I last bought a golf ball.  However this season I found just a few chrome soft X's & really loved them.  Now it's winter time & I have months to think about it....so have to resist the temptation of looking at buying myself some X's for Christmas.

Check out my $500.00 driver with premium shaft. My $1000.00 set of irons. I know green fees are $120.00 these days. Heck no I won't pay full price for a golf ball! This thread is amazing to read. Personally, I'd play used clubs all day long if they were in good condition, but the ball? It is so cheap in comparison to the rest of golf, and it is the one thing that is actually doing the flying. No way do I put a used ball in play, unless it was used by me...

Good condition used balls are fine. Refinished are not fine. It makes used balls worse, not better, in my opinion, even if it makes them look better superficially. Just think about how jacked up they had to be to be unsellable used and need a touchup.
I used to buy used Nike balls off of Amazon in 50 packs when I first started. Mixed pack. Got to try a bunch of different cheap balls. Was fun and liked the variety.
Nowadays have succumbed to the WRX stockpiling addiction, and have over 5 dozen new balls bought on various sales. I buy them bc I'm always enjoying the variety of different equipment. It's part of the fun for me anyway.
But the typical high grade used balls have zero wrong w them. You can tell from outward appearance how off they are or aren't. Most are pond or rough and the people who go out and find them do so on a regular basis, and it's a business. So they do it almost daily and not monthly, so the fear of. months long lake balls is unfounded.
I only once got a bad batch of preowned Titleist, and they were labeled used but came refinished, many of them discontinued models over 5 years out of production and looking ultra fresh.
So you'll know what you received. And dist ance and playability losses are in the single digit percents.
So unless you're playing for $ or a tourney or league, buy used with confidence (but not refinished).

Haha yes Wrist To Floor.  Short arms for a taller guy.  Always need at least 1/2 “ over and 2 degrees up.  Also like heavier shafts so standard clubs are not an option.

All the golf ammo I use in my bag are used.  I tend to play used TM tour level balls (Penta, Lethal, Tour Preferred) as they tend to be slightly cheaper than the used Pro V1s which gives me the best bang for my buck.  I really don't see a difference in distance and spin compared to a new ball.
I buy beat up used balls for cheap to use as practice balls as I want similar performance, but like you even used I steer away from ProVs as they are still 25pc more expensive. I find TM and Srixon good value used.

The reason I ask is I have tried some used Chrome soft that I have found and really like them , but the price is what's holding me back. I buy most of my golf balls at Costco and at 29.99 a double dozen makes it hard to switch, but with lostgolfballs having 4A for 11.24 and 5a for 17.99 makes me want to give them a shot.

So with what I have read in this thread I just might have to give it a go.

Cobra baffler 3 & 5 wood lite flex shaft
Cobra 4 & 5 baffler hybrid lite flex shaft
Cobra baffler irons 4-pw, gw, sw, lite flex shaft
Odyssey White hot 2 ball, super stroke 3.0 counter core grip

Balls whatever Callaway Costco has on sale  LOL

Suggestion - try golf balls direct and go with the 5a ball. . if you are new buyer  they knock off 20% plus I think their shipping might be a little cheaper than LGB.

I have gotten better from the tee which I noticed playing the same ball for at least 5-7 holes per round.  At this point of my game I still consider used (recycled) balls due to the price of new premium golf balls. I narrowed it down to my 3 go to golf balls:

1. Titleist NXT Tour
2. Srixon Q-Star Tour
3. Taylormade Project A

I use lostgolfballs.com to get my used Mint (5A) or Refinished golf balls. Recent order was NXT Tour (Refinished) in 70 degree weather played and felt as new with little or no difference as advertised.

Hope this helps. At the end it's about your current game and what you are willing to pay for new dozens or refinished to 5A status balls.

I find several each round.... haven't purchased a ball in years.  Many of these have been hit a couple times.... nothing better than finding a new Pro V!  I've never noticed a difference between a "new found ball" and one from a sleeve.

Wherever you play must have a lot of rich crappy golfers.  All I usually find are  cheap 2 pc distance balls.

Recently I did get a stroke of luck and played a course that went through a neighborhood and on the 5th hole a guy was throwing out balls that land in his backyard back onto the fairway.  I got a one hit TP5X and 2 mint ProVs .  At least I Knew they were not water balls.

Like many others I purchase the 5A used balls in bulk from GBD and happily play new balls I receive as gifts or win in scrambles. I, however, refuse to knowingly play “refurbished” balls.

I’m also a sucker for end of year price reductions when a new model is being released and will stock up even though the used 5As are still cheaper.  I’m perfectly happy living 1 to 2 years behind the current release cycle for balls and clubs 99% of the time.

Just a local course that players tend to play pro v’s, chrome soft, some tp5’s.... I do find many cheaper balls as well.

If trying a premium ball, I buy used as my game doesn't really justify the cost of buying new. But the TopFlite Gamer seems to always be on sale for around 3 boxes for $30, which are good enough for me and readily available.
