How does the 120 flex compare to standard DG? Does an X100 120 = X100 DG or is the 120 slightly softer due to the lighter weight?

Does anyone have launch monitor numbers comparing standard DG to 120?

DG X100 is DG 120 X100 and so on.

Is the 105 being released the same that is being offered in the new P790's?

It is! P790s just have a sticker label instead of a heat transfer applied label.

is the 105 close in performance to the SL ?

An updated SL perhaps?
Yes- I have a similar question.  The True Temper website lists DGSL as low launch, low spin and the DG 105 as Low launch, mid spin.

Which spins less? DGSL or DG 105?

I am a HUGE fan of DGSL and I am just trying to understand the difference??...

Thanks!

The 105 is an updated version of the SL that focuses on a much improved overall feel and will spin slightly more than SL. The wall thickness in the tip section has increased in the 105 as opposed to the SL, producing this improved feel. Some feedback we always got from the SL was that it was a little harsh and could have improved feel, so the goal set out by our engineers was to offer a lightweight option with the similar Dynamic Gold characteristics while still maintaining the Dynamic Gold feel.

Thanks for the pre-release snapshot.  Could you give information on the balance point of the new shafts?  Could they be installed and maintain the swingweight of older dynamic gold shafts without the need for heavier heads?

Yes, each of our lightweight Dynamic Gold offerings will swingweight to the same or within 1 swing point of standard Dynamic Gold. We are able to do this by using our Variable Wall Technology which allows us to alter the wall thickness throughout the shaft in certain areas.

Why would someone choose to go with a constant weight 120/105 vs say an AMT?  I'm a long time DG user and was thinking of going lighter in the long irons only so I'm torn between going 105 across the board or going with S300 AMT?

Personal preference of the player will be the biggest factor. Constant weight is something most golfers are used to and it gives an option for a golfer looking for a certain weight range throughout the set, whether it be 105g, 120g or standard DG in a 130g range. AMT gives an option to a golfer who still likes a heavier feel in their shorter irons but wants their irons, as they progress longer, to be lighter and easier to swing.

Let's say someone wanted lighter in the long and short irons but variable weight throughout.  At which iron would you switch between the DG AMT and DG 120?  Or are you going to come out with a DG 120 AMT?

not everyone needs flighting help. if you have no issues with your long irons and getting them to the proper apex -- you might be just fine with constant weight shafts; but if you are solid with the short irons but have trouble elevating the longs...AMT might be up your alley

I wish these had been a Mizuno stock offering when I got my MP18 set. Definitely would have given them a try. A 115 gram DG with better feel than SL sounds pretty good. That weight is my sweet spot. And maybe could even go as light as the 105.

I still intend to buy a 9-PW in the muscleback. Would be nice to give them a try.

Couple options. You could go AMT Black which was made as a midweight AMT option as it ranges from 94-116g. This shaft is a mid launch/spin option though so if your goal would be to keep those numbers lower and do a mix between standard AMT and DG 120, you could do that. The progressions wouldn't be as dramatic and you would stay constant DG 120 weighting from 6-iron on though but it would still make the longer irons a touch lighter and give you another option. AMT length to weight characteristics are below.

Definitely an option. If your WITB is up to date and you have DG Pro S300 in your irons, that will put your shortest iron at about 118g which is the same weight as DG 120 S300. Nothing wrong with that at all as it is all a feel preference but some like a little heavier shaft in their wedges so another option would be bumping your Dynamic Gold wedge shafts down to an S200 or S300 to put them at either 127g or 130g. Flex stays the same as it is the same design, just different weights.

Excellent - thank you for that information!  First of all, I have to say, DG Pro is a tremendously underrated shaft series.  I know it doesn't have the tour traction that people want, but it is super smooth and super long (for me and most others that have played it) and the long iron help is a bonus.

Second - S200 and S300 spin a little too much for me in wedges - would you say there are any other options for shafts that behave like S400 wedge in the 125g range?  There probably is an obvious answer to this, so apologies in advance.  If not, the DG 120 sounds like the best option.

Thanks again!

True Temper, (or anyone) do you know where these are available to purchase at retail? I've looked at Golf Works but haven't seen them. I'm interested in buying a 4 iron and 8 iron shaft to test, hoping these aren't through dealers only! Thanks for all the info you've shared.

Edit: Specifically the 105

Excellent - thank you for that information!  First of all, I have to say, DG Pro is a tremendously underrated shaft series.  I know it doesn't have the tour traction that people want, but it is super smooth and super long (for me and most others that have played it) and the long iron help is a bonus.

Second - S200 and S300 spin a little too much for me in wedges - would you say there are any other options for shafts that behave like S400 wedge in the 125g range?  There probably is an obvious answer to this, so apologies in advance.  If not, the DG 120 sounds like the best option.

Thanks again!

The 200, 300, and 400 are all the same flex...they are the exact same shaft, just weight sorted.  With that being said, if you do want to knock some weight off, going with something like the S400 in an 8 iron shaft length and soft stepping to wedge length would probably be a viable option.  That should probably eat up about 5 grams +- depending on the length you play your wedges at.

Just a heads up for anyone that might be waiting for availability...looks like Golfworks now has the 105/120 lineups available for purchase....

https://www.golfwork...shafts/c/10742/

Anyone been able to do a side-by-side comparison to the old DG SL line or the standard weight DG?  Interested to hear personal opinions on feel differences/similarities.

New AMT line is available as well.

Looks like XP105 and XP115 will be going away soon like the SL and DG Pro.  Only available in limited quantity full sets only.  Just FYI.

I found the DG SL had a crisp feeling tip compared to the original DG and DG 105.  On the LM, they all performed very similar but the feel off the SL was a turn off.
