Taking advantage of the winter deal. Obviously playing the Ocean Course, money says play it twice, but is there any reason to play any of the other courses while there? If so which one?

Apologies, I am sure there is a similar thread, looking for a fresh perspective.

Ocean course twice every time! If you don't want to play it twice I would say Osprey Point. However, do Ocean course twice as it is a better deal money wise and the Osprey will not come close!

I need to find a weekend and take advantage of this, even though I like 20 minutes away.

Thanks, that is what I am thinking as well. I don't know much about the other courses, just bought my flights from chicago today though.

Played Kiawah a couple of years ago.  Did two rounds at OC and one at OP.  If I had it all to do again I would have done 3 at the Ocean Course.  OP was fine, but there is so much to the Ocean Course repeat play is a lot of fun.

Ocean course is by far the best but I was surprised (in a good way) by Osprey. It is the only other I would consider playing and it was in great shape and fun.

Play the Ocean Course twice.  If you really want to mix it up, Osprey is a good course and, in my opinion, a significant step up on the other course at the resort.   Still, it's not it the same league as Ocean.

Faced this exact conundrum two Novembers ago. Played twice on the Ocean Course and would've played twice more if they'd let me. You will not regret the second round.

Ocean course with a caddy is the way to go, imo really enhances the experience.   You get to walk and really enjoy the course to the fullest.

They also just reopened Cougar and it looks top notch right now.

Ocean Course twice. My caddy even told me last year not to bother playing the others if you're taking advantage of the deal. He said the others are like your typical country club course. Nothing really special about them.

My recommendation: Get a caddy. Get the full experience. The caddies are awesome and will really help you enjoy the round more. Their great with club selection and telling you how to play the course so you score your best. Not to mention they have some incredible stories. Guy I had last year works the Masters every year and has played Augusta dozens of times. His stories were captivating.

Anyone know how busy it is at this time? I am assuming they fill out the tee sheet pretty well because of this deal.

Itís a great course but not the the league of the ocean course. I will be playing all the Kiawah public courses next year thanks to the Charleston tee time book.  I think all I have to pay is a $50 dollar cart fee for the 4 courses and likeb100-150 for ocean course. Havenít played the other 4 courses in 3-4 years.

I played the Ocean Course in June. First time ever... it was absolutely unbelievable! I guess I got lucky because I played in the morning and there was almost no wind. I wish I would have done the replay in the afternoon because the wind really picked up once I finished. From what I hear, it’s usually more windy in the afternoon, which makes it play completely different. Either way, I would say it’s definitely worth playing twice!

The only time I've been was the weekend before Thanksgiving, and we were one of the only groups on the course. I can't recall having to wait for a shot either day.

Played Cougar Point today.  L they just finished renovations of course, it is in awesome shape.  They aheva temporary (mobile) clubhouse while they build a new clubhouse.  Love the course and always have thought it was overlooked in the shadow of OC.  Of course the other 4 course don't hold a candle to the Ocean, but they are fantastic courses .  NOt sure they price for Cougar, but you should consider it.  Depending on conditions, Ocean Course is hard to play every day, it can be brutal.  Also- if you have any connection to the Kiawah's island Club (private) courses- River Course and Cassique, play those in a heartbeat, even over Ocean.

Is there a replay deal at the ocean course, or are we just talking about the winter "play two courses for cheap" deal I found by googling?  Very interested to learn more.

Sold out for next year about two weeks ago.  Last few years you need to get it by end of October.  Maybe email them to be added to email list, otherwise you have to just Check as they don't really advertise it.

In prime season there is a modest discount for a second, no-guaranteed-tee-time, replay round at the Ocean Course. It's something like half price or thereabouts. So you make a morning tee time in advance, the round costs $300 or whatever it is nowadays and if there are any openings on the tee sheet that afternoon you can go back out for about $100-something.

What I'm not sure is whether a replay round is cheaper in winter when the rack rate is lower. Probably a moot point as there's not much daylight in December/January anyway.

Looks like a good deal for locals. 50 dollar cart fees are higher than Pebble.

I guess they call it "cart fee", but it $50 at any kiawah course is a deal, rack on Osprey or turtle in prime season can even be a couple hundred.  I look at it like this , for $289 ($189 ticket book cost + $100 ocean course fee), is already better than rack rate at OC ($300+) , then as a BONUS you get 15 or so other course for $20-35 (Kiawah's and Seabrook $50)....many of those course are very nice and would normally cost you $80-100.  I've never worked all the way through book, but still feel like It's a deal if you plan on playing Ocean Course at least once.
