This is a no brainer. My Epic might be the biggest difference maker for me not only in 2017 but in the last 30 years.
I have a excellent short game. It's unfortunate that it starts on the Tee.

SeeMore Si5 built to my specs. Putting is my biggest weakness and Iím always blaming the putter and trying something new. Going to stick with this one and try a little consistency for once.

Mizuno JPX ez with Fuji six. Bot early in year.
You know, this is a nice driver. It’s light, goes far and is forgiving. Gotz weights and adj. and all. Really nothing to dislike except that is makes a higher pitch tink sound and well, that is what it is. Prolly want a more stout feeling shaft. It’s a nice driver. Hate the decals.
TM sldr 430 tp with speeder 661.
Bot for fiddy bucks, why not? Love the distance of the TM but damn the head IS heavy, but JP doesn’t mind that so far. He will see. Likes the lower flight. The minimal, for TM, head markings is a nice change back for them. Love the look at address, reminds JP of older TM faves. When he nuts it, this thing is a beast. So far so good. Sounds real nice too. Of course, It will betray JP in the end, like all woods do. They are, in the spidery little hearts, wenches designed to crush your soul. Perhaps you know something about this? Hmmm.

Biggest difference today from a year ago is his iron set. Decided to use the Macgregor pcb tours. Hit them well, better than his Srixon, which he still likes. Just more accurate and they do feel better than the ztx. (He is still trying to convince himself?)
Got a used Yes! Victoria II Putter on the way. Cheap. Really been eyeballing an Odyssey O 7 or a ping sigma Tyne. Like the balance of the sigma, not sure about the insert. Like the O insert but it didn’t feel as balanced as the Tyne in his hands. Nothing is Easy, just like that Ian guy sang.

I was hurt at work last fall and I was looking to replace my Burner 2.0 4 iron with a seven wood or hybrid. I checked ebay to no avail. Then I looked at callwaypreowned.com and they had the 4 hybrid that was exactly as my 3 hybrid, Adams a12 with the stiff graphite shaft. This club gives me more options off the tee and in any situation. I've shot better this year and I look forward to having the 4 hybrid instead of a 4 iron when I get new sticks.

Too easy, but need two.

Beginning of the year: Wishon Sterling irons, 4-GW. One swing on the ball, everything at an 8-iron length. No loss of distance, but much, much more accurate misses. Never going back to conventional irons. Ever.

End of the year: Titleist 917D3 driver. First time I've ever been professionally fitted for a driver. Got my rpms down to 2,500. Went up in swing weight to D6; smoother transitions and removed the pull-hook (my deadliest sin).
Driver: Titleist 917 D3 (Aldila Rogue MAX 65)
3W: TM RBZ
Ping G Crossover 3
Irons: Wishon Sterling 4I-GW
Wedges: Callaway Mack Daddy SW & LW
Putter: Happy (Mallet)

My G400 driver and MP18s are shaping up nicely, but I haven't played enough with them to really say they were the best purchases of 2017. I think the best would have to be a used Odyssey White Hot Pro #9 putter. Seems that heel-shafted putters suit me more than Anser-types (which I tug left). My putting this year has been much, much better, including a personal best of 29 putts in a round. Before, I was regularly hitting over 36 putts a round....
Driver: Ping G400 Tour 65S

I had a set of those and they helped my hands and elbows more than I could have ever imagined! Totally worth the price to enjoy golf and not be afraid of joint pain.

'17 M2 Tour Issue driver head. I'm averaging 6 yards shorter than the 430 SLDR it replaced but I've gone from 59% to 78% fairways hit.

TP5X ball. I've publicly stated the Tour Preferred X is my favorite ball in over 35 years of golf. The 5X is just a little bit better...
