I might receive some backlash for this, but I am a self admitted name brand whore, although Snell is practically a name brand now. I love the performance I get from the Snell My Tour Ball. It just seems to do everything right for me. Long drives, long iron shots, great spin into and around the green. I am looking for a ball with similar performance. I know I know I should just play the Snell, but this is what these forums are for, so humor me with some of your thoughts on this.

The Snell MTB is a 3-piece, 85 compression, urethane cover ball. I noticed that the new Bridgestone Tour B X is also 3-piece, 85 compression with a urethane cover. I'm wondering if it will perform similarly.

  Never heard someone ask for a more expensive version of something they like.

Haha...this is funny. I like to try different balls once in a while. But, I do it knowing the MTB is the best I've played for me so far. But, in this case you really are asking to just pay more. No offense, either. Most of us get goofy once in a while...

The dimples do have an impact on your flight so take it into account... Seriously, MTB. Go.

Ok, got it. It's not just that I want to pay more, it's that I like to play a ball that guys on Tour are playing. I guess it's a confidence thing. I don't think it's a dumb a## question. Many times people ask, "hey what ball plays similar to this ball, or what shaft is similar to this shaft." Thanks for the responses, and especially your input Jeremy0510 :bigwhack:

   The balls played on tour are “tour issue”,  not the same ball you can purchase at your local golf retailer.

   You can buy a brand name, but if you want a ball the pros play you can find some on eBay and expect to pay for the stigma of having a “real tour ball”

Haha.  It was all in fun.  I play the snell and have been since the start of the summer. Ill still play with pro v's or another urethane ball I find but I've only bought the snell ball.  I had 3 or so people ask me about it in a scramble yesterday.   I also don't think there is a difference in a pro v I buy at the country club and the ones my favorite players on tour tee up though as Break81 has said.

It may not be close in design but the MTB reminded me a lot of the Srixon XV.... I really don't know why but the Snell just felt hard, but performed really well.  I am shocked it is 85 compression....

The Srixon XV felt harder to me, yet I haven't tried the 2017 version and I heard it's softer.

I switched from Pro V1 to Snell MTB and haven't looked back. Why someone would pay significantly more (promo & ad costs) for a ball that doesn't outperform is a mystery to me, unless it's having to order online vs walking into a retail store or pro shop. But I am sure the traditional name brands outsell Snell by orders of magnitude, so obviously most people are willing to pay a considerable premium to play what the pros play. True in most if not all market/industries for whatever reason...

Valid point. I know some guys who play velocitys cause guys on tour play Titleist.

Well, nobody's playing it on tour, but the Nike RZN Plat feels and performs very similar to the MTB for me.

I thought Snell's were supposed to be really cheap? $32/dz + shipping doesnt seem that great. Are they cheaper if you buy more?

I thought is was $32 and free shipping ? Also not tax for me here is CA.   But yes buy 6 dozen and they are MUCH cheaper

The reason the guys on Tour are not playing Snell is that they want to be paid for it. How do you think Dean Snell keeps the price down? I guarantee if Dean paid them, you'd see it on tour. He stated in a YT vid this very fact. He mentioned several came to him already.

Honestly, I was getting almost identical numbers to the new Titleist Pro V1, though feel was a little firmer inside of 50 yards.  I like to experiment with golf balls moreso than any other piece of equipment, but the Pro V1 and X always seem the give me the best scoring.  I would put the snell in that category as well.  Just like the Pro V's I don't get a wow factor it's just solid and you know what you're gonna get with it and there's a lot to be said for that.
