Also wanted to add that the Gap Wedge is fantastic.  A great club to chip and pitch with.  Noticeably easier to hit solid and forgiving vs a standard type wedge, because of where the sweet spot is....even on short shots.

If you get a set of these, add the Gap Wedge

Mine came with the set when I bought them slightly used. I use it for full and 3/4 shots...I never thought to try it for chips and pitch shots. Iíve been using my 60 less and less for that and using a 8 iron or 56*

Here is a pic for comparison.  All 6 irons.  L--->R is a J15 MB, DBM, z565

Would you mind posting a pic of the j15 and dbm sole?  I have some te's and they are great but the j15's tempt me. However, their soles always look so fat in stand alone pics. Thanks.

Two different views...

Edit - the J15 MB sole has some leading and trailing edge relief.  I think this makes the sole appear wider.  Of course the sole is actually wider than the original Nike forged blade (the only other mb club I have).

Man that dbm looking better and better. Its actually smaller then it looks. The giant numbers make the soles look huge but theyre not. Are the j15 considered a bigger blade?

Right now its a tossup between the dbm and mizuno mp18

Loved the way my DBM’s looked and felt. The only problem was I hit them way too high. I think they would be perfect for the player who plays game improvement irons but wants the look and feel of a forged players iron.

I see lots commenting about high launch, but are folks seeing high spin.  I was toying with iblade 7 with x100 and was getting 8000 spin and 145 carry.  Hoping these would do less with PX. As the black looks awesome.

According to golfworks these will perform very similar to an ap2. They said they may launch about the same or.5 degree higher.  Spin difference neglibale

Spin rates are right where they should be. They are just high launching.. there are some new forgings in the works that I heard from Britt that he says could be the best forged iron they have ever made. Plus they will also be offered in the DBM finish. No pictures yet.

See post #4 from Cwebb.

Knowledge of the Rules is part of the applied skill set which a player must use to play a round of competitive golf.

If theyíre as forgiving and awesome feeling as the TE/DBM then they will be my next set. Iíve revamped my bag a little this year but my DBMís arenít going anywhere. In fact, Iíve pondered building a single iron to try a different shaft and then buying a set of whatever fits best. Iíve played the S300 for 6 years but I really like the KBS Tour I tried.

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that it will be a cavity back that has a somewhat higher AVCOG than the TE/DBM.  No idea on size

I started with the mmb 4-G. I liked them a lot but not love. They spun a lot so sticking greens is easy. I then added a 4TE. Loved it so I added 5te and then a 3 and am considering pulling the shafts and just ordering the DBM 3-p until this hoopla of a new offering in the spring.  Honestly not sure there is any advantage of the mmb over the TE other than a "bladey" look. Trajectory isn't noticeably different, distance may be better with the te and the look and feel certainly are better if you like a classic CB.

I have a mixed set of MMB's (GW - 9) and TE's (8 - 6).   I like the feel and appearance of the TE's better.   They are 'livelier' than the blades, which I find odd. The set doesn't blend seamlessly as the finish, head shape, and offset is slightly different.     I'll add TE short irons at some point and bench the MMB's.

Cobra King F7 9*
Wishon 919FD 13* (1* open)
Wishon 950HC 18* (1* open)
Wishon 775hs 3 - 5
Wishon 560 - 6 - 7
Wishon 575mmc 8 - PW
Mac Custom Grind GW + LW (NevadaGolfGuy Special)
Betti, Machine, Mannkrafted, Scotty, Tad Moore, Xenon

Not trying to thread jack but how come nobody ever talks about the mmb?

I game the MMB Black with DG AMT S300. To me, the MMB Black is simply the best looking club out there.  They are surprisingly forgiving, too.

Also wanted to add that the Gap Wedge is fantastic.  A great club to chip and pitch with.  Noticeably easier to hit solid and forgiving vs a standard type wedge, because of where the sweet spot is....even on short shots.

If you get a set of these, add the Gap Wedge

I have the TE forged, and I've thought the same thing about the Gap Wedge.  It's the first time in years that I've played the gap wedge from the set.

Figured. But now im intrigued about this mystery new forging coming out. Is it a blade cb gi? If its smaller then the DBM its in the bag. If not im 100% getting dbms.

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that it will be a cavity back that has a somewhat higher AVCOG than the TE/DBM.  No idea on size

Maybe in the sweetspot between the DBM and MMB Black?  That would be a killer lineup.

The only complaint I have with the DBM finish is inability to tweak lies more than 1*, but everything I heard is Golfworks is really top-notch about hand-picking to the closes requested spec, if requested.

I went to their shop when I bought mine. They were able to hand pick by weight but nothing else without charging for measuring.

I've bent them at least 2*, no problem.  They're definitely not as easy to move as a standard finish forged
