To say all mats are horrible regardless of brand is not correct.

In the NE the golf season is 6-7 months max, and golfers who want to practice during the offseason have no choice but to practice at indoor facilities that have mats.

Thicker, heavier mat brands such as Country Club Elite provide phenomenal feedback encouraging ball first contact. Just a fraction heavy on CCE and without question u feel it and that carries fwd to the expected flight/reduced carry of the heavy shot.

Been hitting off CCE all winter in my home sim and have experienced no golfers elbow or joint pain whatsoever.

How the hell are people able to hit 6 inches behind the ball on mats and 1) not know and 2) still get the ball airborne?

The shock of constantly hitting off of mats beat the crap out of your wrists, I would 100% go with grass. Even though mats will always be consistent in tee height and the same lie, if you ever hit a chunky shot off of a mat, it feels like your whole body shakes.
