I have a question regarding the grips on the “Designed by AP” putters.  Why are some grips black/silver and others are brown?  Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure they used a few different colors for the grips.  The black, brown and I know there is also maroon.

Thanks for the response.  Do the different color grips distinguish the year the putter was made by chance?

It should also be noted that Wilson never had a consistent metal composition for the 8813/8802.  They all were a mixture of brass, aluminum and steel but the % of each metal varied with each production run, hence the difference in feel from year to year.

Out of the 3 grips used, is there one more valuable as a collector?

Almost positive that the very first Designed by AP had a brown leather grip.  These came out some time in thecearly 80’s.
