Look, I’m gonna get this out of the way:
I’m  a sidist...is that a word? I don’t know
But I tend to cheer for righties..
Because I can’t “see” the left handed swing as well...

Anyhow, phil is the exception...
I have always loved his Johnny Miller leg shuttle, Bobby jones length backswing, and high handed shaft finish a la Monty..
Phil’s swing is straight out the 70s and is friggin awesome...

Anyhow, I recommend u watch till the end when he was at chambers bay...
His swing is a work of art...

WOW. That was pretty dang cool and man does his swing look different right handed. He REALLY reroutes the club on the downswing.  Really takes it away relatively flat and then comes up and over to come down on the ball in a steeper fashion. Just crazy.  Thanks for this

His swing looks natural and flowing when left handed. flipped, it looks rigid and mechanical. Looks quite strange to me.

I think his swing is gorgoeous and flowing and as I watch it more his leg “shuttle” also has a dip very much in the vein of Byron Nelson...

All things I neve noticed lefty...guess I am a sidist

That flat to steep move really produces a lot of effortless power. For all the foul balls he hits, when his timing is on his swing is a thing of beauty to watch in person. It always seemed to me like he compressed the ball more then other pro's.

Which is funny, because Phil is actually right handed. The only thing he does left handed is play golf.

Like Jordan Spieth, I'm the reverse, a lefty that play golf right handed.
swing is irrelevant, score is everything

Johnny Miller was left handed too and swung righty....his left bicep was kinda big at various times..
And had the coolest, most agressive reverse c to ever grace this planet...
Dude swung for the fences like few ever...let alone the graceful, tempo-based reverse c style

I'm a lefty, but often times see my swing in my head righty.  I've always guessed it's from so rarely seeing another lefty play.  People forget it's uncommon we see a lefty play.

Hes very old school. His leg action was pure jack in college. He also has a weak grip like Jordan so timing is really relied on too much.It tough to be accurate off the tee because you have to flip the hands alot. Also FYI he was like a 10 handicap right handed at one point.I worked a canadian skins game he played in and he hit with vijays irons on the range and he wasnt bad, he was striping some.Vijay also isnt half bad Left handed.

I really like his action seen this way. Very cool.

Seen normal I always thought he overswing and was overactive with his hands. Then I see it flipped and I'm like "Oh , I swing like that."

There's something about the normal speed swings that look odd in the video--like they are speeded up.

Having a weak grips doesnt assume a wristy release. Phil isnt that wristy with his irons its is driver where he gets in trouble. Jordan use his body rotation to square the club face

I was headed to Austria back in the middle 90's, and while waiting for my flight (i had gotten down to Miami really early, because you could never tell about the traffic) I met a friend for lunch at a little pub near to where the Dolphins worked out. I sat with my back to the bar, where the TV was on, and you could see the golf action in the mirror.

Not only did I see LH players playing RH, but I was able to observe just about every good golfer on tour at the time that played RH actually viewed LH!

It was singley one of the most eye-opening experiences I have had in golf.

When I was in Austria, I taught myself to play LH well enough to "qualify" for a LH platzreife - the "field license" you need to play golf in Austria and Germany.

Now, with the 55' or larget TV's, it is even better. So for LH players wanting to see more types of actions of great, tour calibre players, watch all those RH players in the mirror while watching the broadcast.

Great post, OP!  Thanks!

Looks better lefty.

It's the same reason Ken Griffey Jr.'s swing looks so good...as right handers we can't quite perceive what they're doing so it takes on a beautiful, mythical quality.

And now you've ruined that for me : )

I have always loved his Johnny Miller leg shuttle, Bobby jones length backswing, and high handed shaft finish a la Monty..
Phil's swing is straight out the 70s and is friggin awesome...

Anyhow, I recommend u watch till the end when he was at chambers bay...
His swing is a work of art...

Having a weak grips doesnt assume a wristy release. Phil isnt that wristy with his irons its is driver where he gets in trouble. Jordan use his body rotation to square the club face

Thats what i just said, their driver accuracy suffers. You can square your irons but have to compensate which is what Jordan does aka chicken wing.

My favorite player, but that swing as a righty looks very odd. It looks like he dips down and then holds on to dear life to stop the face from closing.

Maybe.....Yessir!
