**UPDATE**

Go figure, just days after posting his topic, I did it. Shot 80 today, 10 pars, 8 bogeys.

It's funny, my second best game of the year and no doubles and no birdies.

100 rounds of golf this year.
And not one of them was double-bogey free. Does this seem strange to anyone else? You would think that ONE of those rounds would be without a double.

Friend of mine is scratch.  He'll "brag" that he's gone like 3 rounds with out a double.  Golf is hard.  One bad shot on a hole and then one "hero" shot that you don't pull off and you're looking at 20 foot putt for bogey.

I don't really know what was different. We golfed with a couple that were quite chatty, so I guess conversation took my mind off of things.

Funny thing, I played well again today and shot 79. DB free until 17!!!

Gee Captain Obvious.  Ya Think!!

I meant if he employed a different strategy, different tees, different mindset.

LMAO. Good one. :ok:

If it was so obvious, why did you ask what was so different ?

Oh, I see now, you meant if he employed a different strategy, different tees, different mindset.

My bad. But then again, ol' Johnny wasn't available this evening.

Im 60 and have played a few thousand rounds of golf in my life.  And never have I ever played a round without at least 1 double bogie. Never. And it burns me up too!
And like you near 10 HC.  So no. Its not odd at all. Not in my world.
I'm sure I'm the same, but then of course I don't play it down.  I have many holes where I'm putting for par and miss the putt and don't then fret over the bogey putt.

But again I'm out to have fun.....

Yeah but he obviously had a better score with (at least) a double, so...

I have shot many good scores that included a double or even two. Doubles can be cancelled out by birdies or bunches of pars, but still frustrating because you know what could have been without them.

So, what was the point of the bolded text? I thought you were saying that the difference was the lack of a double(s).

The point was the OP was about not having ANY double-bogey free rounds.

The OP then posted "Go figure, just days after posting his topic, I did it. Shot 80 today, 10 pars, 8 bogeys." to which Socrates said "So what was different about the round ?"

I quoted Socrates and then quoted the OP to show Socrates what was different. That's why I bolded those phrases.

To the original question - improbable but not impossible.
Here's my scenario - I played 48 rounds this year and my Index is 9.6. I did not go 9 holes - NINE HOLES ! - without 3 putting at least once. I was so frustrated by the end of the season I was actually glad it snowed. My lag putting is equivalent to a 25 handicapper.
Not trying to thread-jack but I just find the original question hits home with me.
BTW - I had many rounds with no doubles - but with 5-7 three jacks ....
