I play in a league and we play a tournament every week. Currently, someone collects cash from everyone who plays and then they pay out for the top spots plus skins, etc. We use golf genius to track the scores and the payouts.  I wanted to modernize the money part, and was thinking the league could create a paypal account, and then everyone could pay their entry using paypal. Then the payouts could be made from the league account to the paypal account of the people who won any money.

If your league or club has tried anything similar, or you have a better method, would love to hear about it. I hate that there are a few guys who have to hassle with collecting, holding, and distributing the money each week.

We use cash. Sitting in the bar/restaurant afterwards and being handed cash (or watching the cash go elsewhere) seems so much more fulfilling than getting a paypal alert. Besides, fees, phones, etc.?

No paypal fees to send or receive money from friends and family. Only if you use the "pay for goods and services" option. And since we use golf genius already, everyone has their phone and is checking live scores during and after the tournaments already.

Your group is far advanced from ours. May as well give paypal a try!

Two different clubs I'm in, one is more casual, collects entry fees by PayPal and distributes in cash at end of round. Treasurer just always brings a lot of cash. Usually only 30 or so guys so it's easier to score, limited side games, just the tourney and some kps, and a long drive.

Other one is more formal, everything run through the ghin site so they can take credit cards, and also accept cash and check in the club safe in the pro shop. Everything from the tourney goes in the bank and then is distributed by check in the mail after results are formalized. These tourneys are 100+ guys so it's just not feasible to do results on the spot before everyone leaves. This one also does multiple flights, net and gross skins, so they need the extra time.
