Seriously, I have way too many balls, and I only have about 5 dozen new balls right now...which is nothing compared to a lot of WRX'ers.  I know once the new KSig comes out I will buy a couple dozen of those to try out, putting me around 7 dozen.

The issue is, I want to play with different balls, but it's hard to justify when I have so many shiny new balls to play with already.

Right now I'm barely losing a ball a round.  The past three rounds I have played the same ball.  I pull two balls at the begging of each round in my pocket.  It's a great feeling to have the same two balls in your pocket at the end of the round.

I typically find at least 3-4 balls on any given round.  My partners call me a ball hawk.  I'm the guy who can find their ball no matter how deep it goes...

Sometimes I find balls I've been wanting to try, but would never buy because they are too expensive.  ProV1/X, TP5/X, Chrome Soft, etc.  I found a Vice Pro Plus the other day and played it, and thought it was pretty great.  It's still in my bag, might give it a go again.  But typically, these go into the shag bucket, so I can work on the bulging ball stash.

I'm not a great golfer by any means, but I don't see how people can stockpile so many balls and expect to ever put them all into play.  Maybe it's the lack of water out here in the high desert....

Big assumption you can actually get k Sig...I buy based on really good sale. I don't tend to lose them though...I have seen 15 model b330 still priced in the 30's...which to me is ludicrous.

I'm in your exact same boat. I have a ton of shag balls and really only a few dozen new ones. I do lose a couple more than you.. between 1-5 typically depending on how well I hit it that day.

You obviously play at the wrong course. Join my course and between the water, ob, crows and social players you will be needing to buy new balls in no time.

You're definitely an amateur if you're only at 5 dozen. Try adding a zero to the end of that, and that's where I'm at. I'm CONSTANTLY buying balls, especially when I don't need them. I'll have to actually make a list of what I've actually got ...

There is a couple of things I just don't get.  Having a second set of the same clubs (unless you have 2 homes and it makes travel easier) and stock piling golf balls.  The only time I get ball heavy (not to be confused with blue balls) is in the spring when I might buy a few sleeves of new balls to see what they are all about.  The rest of the time, I rarely have more than 1 dozen on hand.

I have a buddy who has 4 sets of the same irons.  I have no idea why.  His mom is a hoarder.  The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I had a buddy give me about 500 balls he found over the years when he cleaned his garage.   He said he saved them for his boy since he was born hoping the kid would start playing golf when he got old enough but the boy has zero interest so he gave them to me.  I hit them into the woods behind my house when I can't get to the range :).

My biggest get was when my marketing guy told me he had money to spend or it goes away so I had him order me 24 dozen Pro V1-X balls logo'd.  The previous year I had 20 dozen.   I had to give some away at shows and to customers but I still have 5 dozen left :)

At a rate of one sleeve per round I could go through 2 dozen per month.  So 20 dozen is only a one year supply.  But, I seem to find 2 golf balls for every one I lose. So I'm actually accumulating used golf balls while the new ones get beat up by wedges, irons, sand, cart paths, trees.

I wish I knew what all this " Keep the same ball for multiple rounds" talk was all about lol

I'm happy if I can keep the same ball through the front 9.  The most I've lost in one round is 6, on average I'd say that I lose about 2 per round.  So on average I keep a stock pile of about 2 dozen.

I am being more ruthless when buying ammo. Approx 20 brand new balls (V1x, DX3 Urethane, Vice, Nike and Srixon). Another 50 or more of various level of usage. Then about 150 practice balls. Recently donated some to junior prize fund, sold some and gave others to colleagues kids who are starting to get serious. Leaves are falling and course is soaking so nothing but well used ammo until April, unless I go to Spain or Portugal.
And on a positive nothing new on the horizon that I want to try.

I don't lose a lot of balls, and i play with 10-15 indexes and often help them look for balls. I find a lot of Pro V1's and TP5's. I have probably over 250-300 right now that are all in near-mint condition. I'm not really sure what to do with them other than just throw them in a bucket. Once the bucket is full i'll throw out the older ones or donate them to our juniro program

I probably have 2 more years left on my urathane stash, currently 2 dozen TP Reds and 2 dozen RBZ U's, purchased 3-5 years ago.  An every other years trip to Dick's BOGO gets 2 dozen Gamers and 2 dozen TF D2 Feels.  I supplement this with balls I find throughout the season and have averaged less than $1 per ball for years.

It's a great feeling to have the same two balls in your pocket at the end of the round.

Yes, yes it is.

Ironically, my two worst rounds of the past 5 years in both cases i have not lost a ball. And i play on a fairly tight course

It's actually pretty amazing now that i think about it

You're definitely an amateur if you're only at 5 dozen. Try adding a zero to the end of that, and that's where I'm at. I'm CONSTANTLY buying balls, especially when I don't need them. I'll have to actually make a list of what I've actually got ...

Man, if you have like 500 golf balls, I think you should post a pic of that stash!  lol
His 500 is not nothing---  I remember one of our fellow WRX members posted like 100 new dozens still in boxes when this same subject came up a while back. I think his post was in one of the Kirkland threads and he had purchased i do not know how many dozens of Kirklands then on top of what he had

I just got 2 dozen k sig after writing then off a year ago.  I'm surprised how small the number is printed on the ball.  That puts me @ about 4 dozen and I don't loose them....still think the best I tried this year was CSX..so far.
