Plenty of talk on here about the 718 series of irons from Titleist, but so far not much on the CB's!
Are they getting much love or flying under the radar?
I myself have just experienced them for the first time tonight and they were an absolute joy to hit.

Irons = Miura 1957 Baby Blades Project X LZ 6.0 (4-PW)

Wedges = Titleist Vokey SM6 52*, 56* and 60*

I am sure theyíre a solid club, but Iím curious whether they perform any differently than the 716.

I have a fitting appointment in two hours and theyíre on the short list of irons I intend to try, along with the AP2, MB, and Mizuno MP 18.

Iíll do a write-up later tonight with my results/thoughts.

I don't see how they can be any different honestly. What more can they do to them except play with the grinds? They added tungsten already...I just don't see what they can do differently.

716CBs were the best feeling club I have ever hit when I demoed them.

So much I went out and bought some 712CBs with modus.

I will say the 716s provided a more solid , muted sound than the older generation.

I have not hit the 718s, but I can't see how they can be different than the 716s.  Will probably feel and sound great

I game a 716 cb/mb combo set and the cbís look and feel great. I havenít hit the 718 cb but I believe they have a stainless steel face insert so they are not forged from a single bilet of steel like the 716, well co-forged with tungsten. I have read that the feel is not great due to the face insert but canít say from experience.

I hit the 718cb's and I think the feel felt like cast. Ball speed was 1-2mph faster then my 716cb's. I could game them and adjust to the feel. They were greatly overshadowed by the AP3's. A pure strike vs. heel/toe with the cb's are a 9 yard difference for me. The AP3's didn't seem to lose any distance on poor strikes. The feel of a pure strike of a 716cb is very zen like.

I compared my old 716 MBs to the 718 CBs, hitting shots back-to-back with each, and I couldn't tell a difference in feel. So, in my opinion, the face insert doesn't make them feel worse.

716cb has almost legendary status on WRX.  I am also interested to hear more comparisons on the new model.  I love that they kept the 2 iron in the 718cb lineup.  They will probably sell about 5 of them all year.....but I still love it.

I started playing the Titleist blades in the early 90’s. Switched to the CB’s (690 CB) in the early 2000’s and have played every Titleist CB model since. In between I did play a few other brands but not for very long. Starting from the CB 710, I haven’t played  any other brand. I upgrade every two years when the new Titleist CB’s are launched, who doesn’t get excited to play a new set of irons. For me it’s simple, I know what I have and what I can expect from the new release. No sudden surprises. Another reason I upgrade is that I like to keep up with new technology, however minute it may be. Just comparing my first 690 CB’s with my 718 CB’s shows how far technology has come, even for CB’s. They further suit my eye and works for my swing, so I guess I’ll play the Titleist CB’s until my golfing days are over, whether they’re popular or not. My handicap has varied between +2 and a 4 for the last 20 years, so I don’t really have to bother with GI irons.

Currently playing a combo set of 718 CB/MB. The 718CB’s feel no different to me than the 716’s. However, I’m getting a more penetrating ball flight and more distance from the 718 vs the 716 with the same shaft.

I find the 4-7 (the ones with tungsten) to feel better in the older 716CB. Own both and prefer the 716’s

I am amazed that they are still in the line up. A couple of reps said the sales volume has dropped considerably in the last 3 years. With the tungsten addition they feel very much like the AP2s, not a pure forged iron like the MBs. Wouldnít surprise me if they are gone in the next couple of years. They and the T-MB are the only remaining 2 irons..

I play 716 AP2s and when I purchased them I hit a few with the 716 CBs and then struggled with the purchase decision because they felt so good. When I got fitted for my driver a few weeks ago the rep handed me the 718 offering and I struck them better than I strike my 716 AP2s by a long shot. I don't know if it was the face, tungsten, or just overall feel - but I do know that if I buy new irons in the next couple of years the 718 CB is going to be the top contender. When struck well, they give amazingly solid feedback.

i'm looking on purchasing a split set of 718s this winter. I'm thinking 3iron TMB, 4-5 AP2, 6-9 CB, PW MB. I sound like a mad scientist but I think it could work. I've always played CBs in the past, hoping this works out.

714 and 716 cbs were so pure, the 718 I’m sure will be similar.

I switched to the 716's a couple of months ago after buying a set off the BST.  Kicked Miuras out of the bag.  Great clubs.  Don't think there's a lot of press because there wasn't much changed.  But, don't think you can go wrong.  Playing mine with Steelfibers.  Decided to change to Steelfibers in my wedges.  Have a very good feeling my bag is set.

It crossed my mind that this may happen sometime in the future, especially if there is not a big uptake. Luckily there is always the Miura CB 501 or 57 to consider.

Eisch, and here I am thinking of switching to the Miura CB 501 or 57 in the event of Titleist not producing CB’s any longer. Luckily there is always the Mizuno CB’s to consider. Not seeing Mizuno stopping the CB line

I find the Mizuno line (including the MP18 blade) too large of a profile now, blade length too long for my liking as well as a thicker topline.

I'm I looooove with my 718cb combo, I've got the 5-pw cb, 4tmb, then the 21 818h2. The sole grind is just so good(for me at least) if you're a bit more of a steep/digger, but still do well with a narrow sole/overall profile

I have the 716's and really don't plan on changing anytime soon. Granted, I definitely don't play as much as I use to so really no need for the upgrade. But IMO the slight change in Tech on the CB's from 1 year (got them Early-Mid 2016) just isn't worth the price hike to me.

Quick update, had the 718 CBís for about a week now. Couple of range sessions and one round under the belt.
So far so good!
First time I have gone into a different shaft other than the DG S300 and boy am I noticing how straight I am hitting these.
Nice to be taking dead aim but took a while to get that confidence as I was used to hitting a draw.
These could be the first non bladed iron that stays in the bag for any decent amount of time.

I recently just bought a set of 716 CB (5 to PW) when the 718's came out for a discount.  Coming from AP1's (714 and 716 over the last few years)... i have to say I am in love.  I have never had a "players iron" or anything forged before. The first day I took them to the range, it was a little bit of an adjustment, but I think that was mostly due to the swing weight  (from XP90 to DG300).... but after a few range sessions and a round this past weekend, these are already my favorite irons I have ever had (of course, I have only had 4 sets in my life previously).

i'm looking on purchasing a split set of 718s this winter. I'm thinking 3iron TMB, 4-5 AP2, 6-9 CB, PW MB. I sound like a mad scientist but I think it could work. I've always played CBs in the past, hoping this works out.

Nothing wrong with mad scientist - it's not a million miles from the set I have in my head either!

I was fitted for them at a titleist thursday.  Iíve only got two rounds in the books with them but both were better scores than Iíve shot for the past two months.  Headed to Orlando this weekend for a long weekend of golf, Iíll have a better report on them when I get back.

Got my T-MB / CB set last week and naturally the weather has taken a nosedive but I have been able to sneak in a little range time. Coming from 714 AP2 and was looking for a change of scenery, they are fantastic.  Feel is super solid and the look from address is perfect to my eye. Hope to get on a monitor to check carry distances at the long end of the set. Might need to make some loft adjustments for gapping. On the other hand, as a 4 hdcp weekend warrior, long to mid iron gapping is well above my pay grade!
