Picked up new toys and went 5-L this time. As set versus specialist wedges and Ping G400 are both popular topics I have added some pictures that may help or inform (apols for hotel decoration)

I have the full wedge set in the G’s and they work great. No problem hitting any type of shot with them. People say they can’t hit a full range of shots with them but that’s just a lack of skill and nothing to do with the club.

Those are really nice but I will have to stick with the glide 2.0 wedges.

True...I believe that a wedge from an iron set will do just as a good job as a specialty wedge (Like Vokey).    It's all about technique.

I've read here awhile back that someone said if you play game improvement irons, then why not play game improvement wedges.

My only concern is the LW in the sand. Can you open and get under it?

I'm about to order G400 6-SW but I wouldn't rule out the LW. I was planning a Glide 60 for almost all the work around the green. These do look nice!

I've got the "G" U and S in by bag and have thought about the L.  My only concern is how the grooves will age, so I'm thinking about getting backup wedges while I still can.

Still holding on to a dedicated sand wedge for the short sided down hill lie bunker shot I see once or twice per year.

I like wedges that match the rest of the set. I have the same shafts in all my G30 irons which I also like. I did get a Glide 60 for my lob just because I liked the sole better.

After being away from the game for 14 years, I returned this year and after playing for a while using my old clubs, I got myself a full set of Pings.  At the advice of my fitter (a Ping Top 100 fitter), I ended up getting the Glide 2.0 wedges.  In large part this was due to my lack of success with my old wedges (TM Firesoles with Bubbleshaft) in the sand and the fact that I used to really liked my old Ping Eye 2 Lob wedge (the ES grind on the Glide 2.0 matches the grind of the old Eye 2's) before I stopped playing.  We took all of the Glide 2.0 wedges over to the practice green and I was significantly better from the bunkers with the ES grinds (blind testing) using the 54 & 60 degree wedges than I was with the other grinds.  Since the 50 degree is not available in the ES grind, the choice was whether to match the feel of the gap wedge to the G400's or to the Glide 2.0.  The fitter thought that the Glide 2.0 was the better way to go.  So, that's how I went.

I do think it's entirely about personal preference.  I have absolutely no doubt, as a user of this site, that over the winter Glide wedges will find their way in and out of my bag. I used a ping Eye 2 gorge lob wedge with my Callaways, and still have it, and love the sole. I think the main thing for me is that the G400 lob is useable, not in any way over chunky, has a clever sole design that achieved this and feels so nice in contact with the ball. Not used from sand yet!

they look like they would be best for full shots, square face, with a more limited option to open it up. that said, I'd only be concerned getting out of the sand with one of those.

Years ago I had full wedges in the Ping Rapture V2 line. I hit some decent sand shots with the LW but I don't remember actually opening the face much.

Looking at the photos the size and sole width is pretty close.

Not being a digger coupled with the firm conditions I don't open the face anyway.

I liked that too... Until I got my glide 2.0. Love them. Next set I get is to keep my 4 Glides and get 5-9 Iron. I think the wedges will last a few sets over the years.
