I've shot 1 over on three different occasions at my home course. Plenty of low 70's rounds but never really close.

Friday went out last second and had what turned into the best score of my life. 1 over on front, 5 under on back for a 4 under 67 (par 71 course). I was ecstatic to say the least.

Birdied 14 and didn't think much about it because overall, I was playing a typical round for me. Always play well on the front and usually have most of my birdies there. Back is where I usually have a blow up hole or two.

Chipped in for birdie on 16 and it hit me where my score was. I got really nervous at that point. So many rounds I've been doing well and then tried to play defensive. I always fell apart. So this time I told myself to swing away and don't dare try and ease through the ball. 17 is a par 5. I striped 2 shots to leave myself a 8 foot eagle putt and sunk it. Killed my drive on 18 (probably nerve and adrenaline related), put my approach to about 6 feet, and made the birdie there.

I was freaking out. Had my best round ever by far. Pace was awesome. Guy I played with plays super fast and is very easy going about it. Teed off at 4:30 and done by 6:15. Celebrated accordingly that evening.

Promptly went out Saturday morning and shot 80

Nice! I've been close twice this summer.  Would be nice to make it happen before the weather changes.

Thanks guys. Yeah that mental barrier is one I've been wanting to crack for a long time. I'm hoping it will let me relax and go low again.

I remember the very first round I played subsequent to my first round under par.   I was so excited to do it again.   I ate the same food, wore the same clothes, played the same ball and shot a +4.
It felt like 85.

Congrats.

Thanks, yeah after about 15 holes Saturday, I realized I'd spent the entire day trying to "hit it like yesterday" instead of just hitting it. Too late by then.

Congrats. I remember the first time for me a couple of years ago. Had to birdie 18, the hardest hole on the course to make 1-under 69 and figured no way. Sure enough... Solid drive, hybrid from 220 to 12 feet, and presto! IT's an awesome feeling!

Many congratulations!

Congrats, I'll probably feel the same way breaking 80 one day.

But I bet that Saturday was still a fun round for you...

I mean it was basically a victory lap!

I've shot 70 on numerous occasions.

I've never been able to break the barrier of 70 and post in the 60's.

My best opportunity was -2 standing on 18 tee. Had just hold a 35-40 yard pitch shot from the trees and over a bunker on 17 for birdie to get to -2. 18 is a par 5, 525-540 yards, I smoke a drive 330+ and have 194 from the fairway, center cut. 194 to a front right pin, bunker front right and left, plenty of room deep into the green. Knock it up there, down in two, and birdie, right? Shoot 69? WRONG!! ... I proceed to short choke a 4 iron, flub it 30 yards due right on a 45 angle into a small pond not in play on the 18th hole, rather the 11th hole running parallel. I proceeded to card a 6 for 71 from 194 yards out on the par 5 18th hole. :-(

.... To this day. I don't feel I've ever recovered from that Spring afternoon in 2012.
