My buddies from Colorado and Naples were in town and wanted to play. It had been years since we had teed it up together and 18 simply was not going to be enough.

So...

We played 18 on The Palmer at Saddlebrook and got warmed up. Then some lunch was in order and by 11:45 we were back out on The Saddlebrook Course. We finished around 3 and the weather was still holding so we once again went out onto The Palmer. (Well two of us did - my friend my Naples had to drive back home and could not stick around)

I am paying the price a little today but literally a full day of golf with close friends made for an awesome Saturday. And the replay rates on these awesome courses was more than reasonable.

Anyone else? (This isn't our record BTW - but we last did this like 20 years ago or so when we were all younger)

Yeah but did you get the lawn mowed? Fence painted? Wifes' tires rotated?

Just kidding, and a little jealous. I'm glad you had fun. I don't have any old golfing buddies like that. My pals would be too hammered after lunch to play another 9, let alone an additional 36.

Great day of golf with old friends. I envy you, and the price of waking up a little sore is a very small price to pay, IMHO, for such an experience that you may not have another chance at for a while, if ever.

Next time...give me a shout! I would gladly play all day long at the price of hurting tomorrow

Impressive. If I played 54 holes I would need a holiday to recover. I salute you.

Definitely.

Here in Florida courses that allow walkers are rare.

BTW I love walking and have a nice stand bag just for that purpose. Just keep hydrated up and walking in Florida isn't an issue. (It is flat here for crying out loud!) But NO WAY could we have walked 54.

I have walked 36 a few times. But was spent afterwards. And I was younger back then - can't imagine how I'd feel now.

We used to do a 72 hole marathon on the longest day of the year.  Started in the dark, finished in the dark.

The first time we did it, we got a tee-time for the next day.  We never made that mistake again.  I'm not sure I could have tied my own shoes the next morning.

I can relate. Did not bother putting on any shoes today...

Nice! About once a month or so I do a 'golf orgy' and walk at least 27.  I rarely get to 36.  By the end my backswing comes to about waist high.

Medic, what's up my friend, yes retirement is nice, I will be in Orlando (Disney) from the 28th to the 2nd, I will play golf on the 29th or 30th at the Magnolia Course, so if you can make it up there around that time it would be great, or let me know which day would be easier for you and we can get together then, nice to hear from you , take care, hope to see you then...

I almost never played a standard 18-hole round when I was a kid. Instead, various combinations of four or more friends would meet up at the local muni course, where we most commonly played team scramble events against each other (2v2, 3v2, 3v3, etc.), typically broken down into nine-hole games. We'd play as many of these we could squeeze into a day, sometime switching up the teams every nine holes and other times keeping the same teams and seeing who could win the most nine-hole matches. The folks running the muni were often kind enough to charge us for nine or eighteen holes under their already dirt-cheap kids' rates and look the other way for the rest of the day, which is how we could afford it.
