I apologize if this has been done before, but what's the loudest/sweetest crack off a club you've ever heard? For me, Saturday at the Ryder Cup, 2016, Sergio Garcia on the 11th hole. I heard Rory on 2 earlier in the day, and he hit an absolute ripper, but I've never heard a sound like Sergio's off a clubface before. It literally sounded like a firework.

One of my mates is very strong, easily able to swing 130mph and used to have an old Nike Sumo Driver...

It sounded like the start of world war 3 when he hit the ball with that old driver!

Nothing I hear on the Nordea Tour events I have gone to, with guys like Colsaerts and Quiros taking part even vaguely sounds as V8-sexy as the old Persimmon drivers. A guy, a friend's friend of mine, now tragically dead, did martial arts, explosive temper, about 1,75 meters tall and stocky and a 2 hcp'er really punished the ball. His hitting the ball was like an explosion.
We had guys that was longer off the tee than him, the second best player in Scandinavia at the time and a long hitter, but they kind of sweeped the ball off the tee, probably more smart. But the guy, the sound of his drives... I can still hear them even if it was like 30 years ago. Something like the sound effect they made for the hits in the Goldfinger golf match (you know, were Oddjob later squeezes the ball so hard it leaks out between his fingers...)

Original Covert with the original 20XI was like a gun shot going off. Worst sound I’ve ever heard coming from a club/ball.

Tiger 2008 at US Open.. Driver was obvious, but long irons had a definitive crackling sound, or was that his knee..... Most impressive.

Not on tour, but any of those awful square drivers on an indoor driving range.  Literally hurt my ears.

Those drivers were just "stupid" loud.

First time I ever heard one was right next to me at the range. Guy strolls up, warms up, and then tees one up with the silliest looking driver I had ever laid my eyes on. And when he made contact he echoed throughout the range and a lot of people stopped what they were doing and looked around to see what the heck had just made that sound.

I am pretty sure it was a shot with the original Nike Sumo in an indoor range in the stall next to me.  I was actually startled and nearly hit the dirt. I think the Sumo was the first of the "loud drivers"

(edit - I should have read the other posts first.  Apparently I was not the only one who was scared by a Sumo.  A real Sumo jumping in front of me would have been less intrusive.)

Long drive pro in a bay at PGA superstore. I think it was sadlowski before he got big. It was like 8 years ago and I remember the guy being tiny compared to me (I'm 6'4"). I  hit it a decent distance and came back to check results thinking I may have won, but found him hitting it 380-390. The sound and force to his swing are indescribeable.

The loudest place I've ever personally hit a ball is from the 18th tee box at SilverRock in LaQuinta.  Its tucked back into a natural rock amphitheater and when you hit it almost sounds like a shotgun going off.  Pretty cool.

Good morning MinWin👊

Hands down, even considering my #2, and his “crack” wasn’t close, however the loudest sound off of a club at impact was Hank Kurhne with his driver, then John with his. I got to Play with both so I heard many shots and though John’s were something else, Hank’s were on a whole nother level.

I believe that Hank still holds the season Long Ball record average at 321 and change.

Oh yea, in my mindless state I forgot this lil worthless factoid, though Hank found it funny cuz on just under half of his measured driver holes that year, he hit a 3 metal, lol.

John?
DJ?
Bubba?

Haha, get real😂😂

Stay well my Friend🍻

He had the arms of a man who was 6'7 so his arc made ernie els arc look small. I played with him years ago on the canadian tour and literally watched him snap a shaft of a 6 iron hitting out of the rough. Guy was an animal. he was hitting his 2 irons back then as long as some of our drivers. Shame he tore his biceps and dinged his shoulder. he was measured back then at 125 consistently

Non-pro noise was a buddy that had a Cleveland HiBore driver. That thing was terribly noisy. I asked him how he was able to stand the noise when hitting it. His reply "when I am in the middle of the fairway, way ahead of my playing partners, the sound is a lot less bothersome'"

Pro noise was Daly at one of the Vancouver PGA tournaments. I had just strolled up to the tee box on the uphill par 4 15th. He hit an Orlimar Trimetal wood of sorts if I recall correctly. Sounded like a gun going off.
