Played a round with it- I really like it- it feels tad firmer than chrome soft with b330s cover- they are soft enough if you go back hitting pro v you will notice big difference in compression. Great driving ball - definitely lower traj and better into or in cross wind- the cover looks really shiny and it held up well in wedge shots, I had to adjust my wedge shots because half shots went further like 5 to 7yards. Love the feel off the putter and irons- with driver feel is in between chome soft and x- distance was little further than pro v i think because of the lower spin ans roll out- they also give yoi $20 gift card if you answer their survey on line- first 500 or so. If they launch this ball at 39.99 it would be home run for titlest and headache for callaway
That the rub, at $39.99 they are taking away sales from the V and X.   They would be smart to sell them at $43 .

Regardless I played this ball yesterday and the Chrome Soft is miles better for me and I can always get them at Dicks with 20% off ($32 dozen)

I really think Titleist will not do too much damage to Callaway here

yeah I think at $32 CS is much better option, AVX is good ball but at current price it is going to be hard sell to majority- I just bought two dozen to give it as a gift to my father in law over seas- so he can brag to his golf buddies- but for me can see me playing this ball at that price- sub $40 different story

I had the chance to try the AVX today. It is soft, Chrome-soft. Flies reasonably far, low trajectory, better off the irons than the driver (LIKE THE CHROME ). Soft on the green, but will not nip like Pro V1. Good ball but not getting where it fits in Titleist's lineup. Does not do anything better than ProV1 except it has a yellow model.... :swoon: :download: :derisive:
So Chrome Soft but $8 more.  Gotta love Titleist and the people who love to pay more for the name.

$20 more on eBay. If anyone wants to make a quick buck, buy some AVX balls and resale them on eBay. I’ve never seen a golf ball sell for more than the MSRP until the AVX.

*Cough*kirkland*Cough*

Kirkland huh? How much does that ball sell for at Dicks Sporting Goods?

Played another round today with AVX- I must say the ball is growing on me, the fully strucked irons, the feeling is addictive, very heavy soft thud, because the ball compressed better even slightly missed shots still found the green. Spin on the wedge shots were good and predictable, it was hop hop stop with crisp half pitch shots, traj was lower on pitches so it was good today, little wind. Great Great driving ball, it all but one fairway, little harder to shap it but it was easy to hit it high or low. With putter it feels better than CS not as mooshy more feed back from it. I think if they release this at sub $40, I think this ball will be my go to ball. But right now B330s and srixon Zstars will remain in the bag.

Not so fast...

Balls can often test new technologies that companies want to bring out.  This could be one of those "tweener" ones that test out new cores and materials.  While this will probably not replace the ProV1, it could lead to a change to it during the next cycle.

This is what I was told today at the shop.  It is more of a "feeler" by Titleist for whatever reason... but at the price, it's a bit ridiculous and I am a Titleist fan.  It's just absurd to pay for golf balls...  Out of curiosity, anyone willing to cut one open?  By chance similar to Ksig?

Unlikely. AVX is a 3 piece 352 dimple ball. The K-Sig is a 4 piece 360 dimple ball.

Similar to my thoughts after playing but I had real problems with it around the green,on chips but especially on pitches. The heavy feel, for me, was off-putting and the lack of precise control (to the extent I actually have such a thing) made me think it wouldn't be the ball for me.  But, at $40 it could be someone else's #1 !

People keep saying they're heavy.  Does this account for the lower ball flight and a way to control spin with wedges?

If its being tested as a possible competitor to the Chrome Soft.  Wouldn’t you expect the price to be comparable?

Balll sucks for the money. Decent distance off the tee, feels ok not  great with Very little spin around the green for a Premium priced ball. Also I can't believe they were offering a $20 gift card to give your opinion but only for the first 350 respondents.

People will by them just cause they are new and they are Titleist.  Just check out the prices on Ebay and they are selling!  Fools born every minute I guess to pay $6 or more for a ball.  That is just crazy!

Perhaps true, but the price difference alone will make me keep playing Chrome Soft. On a side note, I just purchased Maxfli U6 Tour soft for 2 for $35....as per reviews....this ball might be a steal.

Guess you've missed the prices people pay for the K-Sig on Ebay and when the Pro-V1 first came out in 2001. People in both instances paying way over retail. Also look at what people pay for certain classic wound/balata golf balls on Ebay. I have a new dozen (NOS) of the original Maxfli A-10 golf balls, which were better than the Pro-V1 when they came out, that if I put them on Ebay or sold them here somebody would pay over MSRP.
No doubt. We are having a Blades and Balata tournament and I just paid out the wazoo for two sleeves of Maxfli HT-100.

I’ll never argue with someone who finds something to be a better value, but at the same time I don’t really understand why people get mad at Titleist for their premium prices rather than being happy there are more cheaper alternatives than ever before.

Need to wait and see the long term results on limiting the distribution of the AVX. In the short term, I think it's created a thirst for something not everyone can get. Works for other consumable products.

I dont understand what Titleist was thinking here?? this new ball should be just a replacement for the NXT tour line truly..what benefits do you get from this ball over the pro v1, at same price point?? confused here...i just wish the ksigs came back out at $15 a dozen, i would play them for sure

Played a round with AVX at Torrey Pines South from the Taupe Tees, good weather not much wind.

Swing speed between 115 and low 120's. Hit way up on the ball so not much spin.

On 1 hit it past the trap on the right which I've never done before. On 2 drove the ball past pin high on the 6th Tee, which I though was ridiculous. Then on 13 drove the ball down the hill.

Putting felt great. Sound off the blade was perfect. Chunked a few chips which was user error. 😂

It a really crisp iron into 12 to a back pin that carried the trap on left and stuck, into the only real breeze we felt all day.

My Review:

Driver: very long
Irons: Good through air and breeze, long.
Putter: Felt and sounded great.
Around the green: didn't hit enough shots to really know. Hit a few very good flop type shots after putting myself in bad positions. Felt and sounded pretty good off wedges.

Questions: If this is a low compression ball, why was I seeing absurd distances? I've played the course a number of times and never hit so many drives that were better than my best drives on each of these holes over time.

I normally play ProVX and was going to try some chrome soft x that day randomly but after the drive on 2 I stuck with the AVX and saw really absurdly long tee balls all day.

Would love to know more about why that's the case despite lower compression combined with high swing speed, and realize I might just be missing an important fact about compression.

Would definitely try. Maybe fits a wide range of speeds?

Are you sure you bought a dozen or was it a sleeve for $29?

I had the chance to try the AVX today. It is soft, Chrome-soft. Flies reasonably far, low trajectory, better off the irons than the driver (LIKE THE CHROME ). Soft on the green, but will not nip like Pro V1. Good ball but not getting where it fits in Titleist's lineup. Does not do anything better than ProV1 except it has a yellow model.... :swoon: :download: :derisive:
So Chrome Soft but $8 more.  Gotta love Titleist and the people who love to pay more for the name.

No, not a Chrome Soft as to spin around the green is what I read... The AVX is not a tour ball... that's what I read.
