I had the chance to try the AVX today. It is soft, Chrome-soft. Flies reasonably far, low trajectory, better off the irons than the driver (LIKE THE CHROME ). Soft on the green, but will not nip like Pro V1. Good ball but not getting where it fits in Titleist's lineup. Does not do anything better than ProV1 except it has a yellow model.... :swoon: :download: :derisive:

$20 more on eBay. If anyone wants to make a quick buck, buy some AVX balls and resale them on eBay. I’ve never seen a golf ball sell for more than the MSRP until the AVX.

By the time you pay fees $20 isn't going to make you much money.

Guess you've missed the prices people pay for the K-Sig on Ebay and when the Pro-V1 first came out in 2001. People in both instances paying way over retail. Also look at what people pay for certain classic wound/balata golf balls on Ebay. I have a new dozen (NOS) of the original Maxfli A-10 golf balls, which were better than the Pro-V1 when they came out, that if I put them on Ebay or sold them here somebody would pay over MSRP.

Sorry. Should have been more clear. House brands do not have a true MSRP because the retailer is the manufacturer, and they are not sold through other retail accounts. That is why I mentioned MSRP. So basically I was trying to say any golf balls that were not house brands, sold through traditional green grass and golf retailers.

My apologies for the confusion.

I did forget about the Pro V1 when it was first released. What is it with Titleist creating such demand?

I guess I didn’t consider nostalgia balls because they don’t have a current MSRP if they’re not being sold anymore. I would also say that golf balls with signatures don’t count towards my statement either, along with balls played by famous professionals. I know you didn’t mention those but I wanted to make a further clarification before anyone else made a comment to that affect.

Sorry, I didn’t realize my statement would get taken out of context otherwise I would have qualified it a little more before posting.

Played some more with it today. Not a bad ball but feels strangely "heavy" on pitches and chips. It was difficult to control on those shots, as well. Great in the wind, long enough but it really reminded me of the Snell ball, feel wise. It will not replace the ProV

Man you nailed it dude. I couldn't put a finger on it but "heavy" is such a good word to describe it on chips/pitches.

I felt like it performed great off the tee, admirably with irons and full wedges, but shots around the green just aren't up to snuff for my liking. Also piggy backing off you again -The ball is legit in the wind and I personally noticed a lower more penetrating trajectory, specifically with the irons.

Think this ball will play for plenty of the population... If it wasn't a $50 box of balls. For that money I would steer clear.

Stores here in the Orlando area have just put them on the shelves. I bought into the hype and picked up a box. I'm normally not a Titleist player. I have tried the ChromeSoft and liked it and my favorite ball of all time is the Wilson 50 Elite. Going to test the AVX around the greens against a 50 Elite and see if I can tell why the ball is 4x more expensive.

Playing partner had some yesterday and I hit a couple of shots.  He said the compression was about 40 and it felt like my RXS with the Titleist name.

Very good description.  I think it looks like a Bridgestone with the Titleist logo.  Trippy.

I like the RXS but wish it had a touch more spin. How would you compare the flight between the two?

Played a round with it- I really like it- it feels tad firmer than chrome soft with b330s cover- they are soft enough if you go back hitting pro v you will notice big difference in compression. Great driving ball - definitely lower traj and better into or in cross wind- the cover looks really shiny and it held up well in wedge shots, I had to adjust my wedge shots because half shots went further like 5 to 7yards. Love the feel off the putter and irons- with driver feel is in between chome soft and x- distance was little further than pro v i think because of the lower spin ans roll out- they also give yoi $20 gift card if you answer their survey on line- first 500 or so. If they launch this ball at 39.99 it would be home run for titlest and headache for callaway

So Chrome Soft but $8 more.  Gotta love Titleist and the people who love to pay more for the name.

$20 more on eBay. If anyone wants to make a quick buck, buy some AVX balls and resale them on eBay. I’ve never seen a golf ball sell for more than the MSRP until the AVX.

That the rub, at $39.99 they are taking away sales from the V and X.   They would be smart to sell them at $43 .

Regardless I played this ball yesterday and the Chrome Soft is miles better for me and I can always get them at Dicks with 20% off ($32 dozen)

I really think Titleist will not do too much damage to Callaway here
Cobra F7+ - Stiff
   Cobra F7 - 5/6 set at 17*
  Ping 22 degree Hybrid
Mizuno JPX850 Forger 4-GW - XP115 S300
Callaway Forged 52 degree
Titleist 55 F grind / 60 M grind
EVNROLL ER5 or Cleveland #6
   Srixon XV - K3 - Vice Pro

I dont understand what Titleist was thinking here?? this new ball should be just a replacement for the NXT tour line truly..what benefits do you get from this ball over the pro v1, at same price point?? confused here...i just wish the ksigs came back out at $15 a dozen, i would play them for sure
