Sorry I just deleted it because it's not worth dealing with some of the ridiculous people on this site.  I am sure stuff will be out soon.  But then again, I have no idea what I'm talking about because I didn't know what the final name was going to be lol

No worries, I was kidding anyway.  Although I wouldn't have minded judging your artistic abilities.

This whole Rogue replaces or does not replace Epic is muddy and I think everyone is wanting a more extreme yes it is or no it isn't than you're going to get.

Epic woods are having the same "problem" as the Apex CF16 and Apex Pro irons: they're still selling through at more than an acceptable rate. The Rogue driver is not going to be a monumental change forward from the Epic driver. As my rep said "XXX amount of people bought the Epic. This is for everyone else in the golfing population that didn't buy Epic"

Epic line will continue to sell at full price until movement slows. No point in decreasing profits for no reason.

In regards to Rogue Drivers: standard and draw heads are G30 sized. very big and very very forgiving. SZ head looked really good. can't say it's smaller than the Epic SZ but it just looks better in proportions and size.

The rogue drawing, whether accurate or not, looked very much like the epic forged.

I'm going to be buying two upgrade shafts for my Epic in the next week or so. What would you say the likelyhood that the Rogue will have the same adapter and take the shafts?

Have pictures of the clubs as I hit them at a demo day, literally exactly the same as an epic just change the name and the paint color from green to blue and boom you have the rogue. Callway at it again with the ridiculous release cycles!

When it's a replacement for the XR, which was a on a 2-year cycle, it's not a ridiculous release cycle.

That can be easily argued simply on the basis that they have so many drivers out it's ridiculous to release another. The length of the cycle vis irrelevant when you have X models already out there. I'm not going to have that argument but it's valid.

So what impact does the release cycle have on you and why does it bother you?

The lines they have cater to different segments of the market.

Those looking for high moi, rear weighted for launch. Lighter stock shaft option. And a 44.5" option for accuracy = Fusion

Those looking for longer shaft length, all out distance, less adjustability, slightly lower cost = XR

Those looking for all the tech, materials, most adjustability = Epic

As club hoes why wouldn't we want more options.  That just means quicker dumpoffs of inventory to get great deals.

So it sounds like the Rogue Sub Zero has a different shape head than the Epic Sub Zero? I love hitting the Epic Sub Zero, but have never liked the way it sits...I've just gotten used to it over time because I like the results.

It may be like the epic but from what I hear is that It's light weight and a D Type driver? Was that wrong information?

In other words.... marketing.

Quicker dumpoffs mean less options when it comes to places to buy because B&M can't compete. They and you can do as you wish but pretending there is no downside is simply wrong.

Therealjonzone, thank you. I actually liked the look of the epic head with the color kind of hiding/transparent under the black. I just didn't like the green. It looks like Callaway has something to compete with the Ping 400 sftech. I'd rather play Callaway over Ping. Anything over Ping really. That driver did swing well for me though. I can't wait to try it.

The reason no one knows what driver is replacing what is the simple fact that Callaway won't commit to a naming line for more than 24 months and it's becoming extremely irritating.   I have an all Cally bag and I like their products but it's becoming less appealing.

I'm not really sure why the name of the line is so frustrating. It's actually a brilliant marketing strategy because it keeps the public guessing and remains a hot topic until the name is official.

People didn't like the Epic name, but people will buy it if it helps their game.

Why do we need brick and mortar ?

I think the answer to that is fairly obvious, but to list a few:

B&M creates local jobs.

It is where a large majority of people demo clubs and get "fit". Yes in quotations because I do not believe these are great fittings, but more accurate than buying without ever swinging.

Convenience, I don't mind ordering a club but for balls, gloves, and tees I prefer to grab them in a store or in the pro shop. I could modify my behavior and order online if I planned better, but I probably won't unless forced to.

Also, it is a fun place to go and see all of the new stuff, golf stores are like toys r us for golfers.

Most b&m stores do repair work. I hated leaving my putter overnight, I do not want to think about shipping a driver off to have it reshafted and then having to wait a week or so before it is shipped back.

I am sure there are several more, but these are off the top of my head.

I actually totally agree about the name Epic  because I never cared for the name either. I was more referring to the general name of clubs changing not really a particular name.

Im not really sure why the name of the line is so frustrating. Its actually a brilliant marketing strategy because it keeps the public guessing and remains a hot topic until the name is official.

I didn't say it was or wasn't smart. I said it was frustrating sometimes as a consumer. They stagger their releases which I can easily see as a benefit. For example Titleist releases just as many irons (6 I think) but because it's all at once they don't get all the negative comments about release cycle.

At the same time you could easily see a consumers frustration because there is so much new stuff being released with independent marketing support it gets confusing. For example I didn't test any Steelhead fairways because I like shallow faced fairways. But if you were testing say Epic and Steelhead and then 3 months later here comes a new one it tends to give that frustrating feeling.

Just wish they'd stick with some umbrella naming categories. Kind of like Mizuno does with MP and JPX. Doesn't mean you can't blur lines (ala JPX Tour vs MP MMC) but in general the consumer can understand what's being offered and test what's best easier. They could easily accomplish this with woods by keeping GBB and X as the two categories. You can have XR rogue or GBB Epic or whatever but at least the categorization is better. Same thing with the irons- I want to test the new X Forged but I have to wait on the new Apex before I can compare. I'm not going to buy new X Forged and then new Apex come 3 months later with no chance to compare.

Let's face it not everyone has access to good fitting options where all the options are available.

What demo day happened to have the unreleased, highly secret rogue?  Not doubting - just intrigued!

Have pictures of the clubs as I hit them at a demo day, literally exactly the same as an epic just change the name and the paint color from green to blue and boom you have the rogue. Callway at it again with the ridiculous release cycles!
I'm doubting.

There is no sliding weight. The reps are getting their spring orders ready right now from an inventory standpoint, and if you either have a great relationship with your store or the rep you'll be sure to get notice of when it's making an appearance at the store....I easily had time to take pics when I was hitting the 3 wood on Flightscope, but didn't want any thing to come back to my preferred store or the rep.

So it sounds like the Rogue Sub Zero has a different shape head than the Epic Sub Zero? I love hitting the Epic Sub Zero, but have never liked the way it sits...I've just gotten used to it over time because I like the results.

I can't say for sure if it's a different head shape. It could be something as simple as slightly darker gloss on the crown, slight adjustment to the Speed Step, or whatever but the Epic SZ always looked somewhat flattened like someone pressed down on the crown. The Rogue SZ may have a slightly taller face which reminded me of the XR 16 Pro but PLEASE don't think that I'm saying it looks 440cc. We're probably talking fractions of millimeters and minutia that some will see and others won't.

Also I think we all need to stop with the "XR Replacement" idea. This is the iphone 6S series to last years Iphone 6.

And to the gentleman that said he hit it and had pictures from a demo day and nothing has changed except the paint I call BS. While performance changes may be small the visuals, especially of the sole, are very different. I will repeat this again: this driver is for everyone that did not purchase an epic last year.

I agree with you a little bit. Even as a staff member I'm getting frustrated with the iron line ups though. I think we currently have 12 irons in production. The benefit of the Titleist style iron release is that you know no matter what the iron you're getting is the most current up to date product. I think a lot of players aren't sure if they need to Game Improvement, Super Game Improvement, or Hyper game improvement irons and when GI irons are 6 months old, SGI irons are 12 months old, and HGI irons are 3 months old but the SGI irons work the best i'd be hesitant to sell them for fear of being "outdated" soon.

This is confusing. Rogue is the same tech as Epic, but isn't replacing it? Callaway is going to have 2 drivers that are essentially the same, for the same price? Just doesn't seem to make much sense from a business standpoint.
