Almost every time a club feels "dead" to me it's because the shaft I have is too stiff. My guess is that a significant portion of WRXers that complain about feel have this same problem because we all have to have X-flex shafts that are tipped.

Epic SZ that I had felt and sounded great, but a bit harsh as I had a KK XT 60x in it. When I demo'd it with stock shaft, felt so much less harsh.

Still anxiously awaiting any Rogue fairway info/pics....

I don't know.  I think if the FT Tour wouldn't split at the seam, it would probably compete with drivers today.  I never had it on a LM to get numbers, but I was hitting the same spots on the course with that thing.  I was a little younger and in better shape though.  I don't remember it being too unforgiving either.

I would want to do that for sure. Would love to just hit it at the range for fun and nostalgia.

Any chance they will offer an adjustable Rogue fairway wood? Am all set with my 3w shaft so would love to plug it in a jailbreak 3w head. Will I have to wait for epic 2.0 next year for that?

I couldn't get along with it for some reason.  Launched really low and seemed unforgiving.  But, it coincided with a pretty bad stretch of golf for me.  It was pretty much a lost season.  We just had our second child and I wasn't getting out much.  When nutted, I remember it being very long.

No with the jailbreak now in the woods, the adjustable would make the club too heavy and cause all sorts of issues with COG. But believe me you won't be disappointed. It lives up to the hype in everyway. It sounds a bit more lively than the Epic but with a slightly firmer feel. Just feels very solid. I personally love that's it's a bonded hosel and look forward to this year with this club

Probably true in most cases, but I had the EvenFlow 65gr 6.0 which is very soft for me. I just don't think standard Rogue is a great feeling club.

SOunds on here like the SZ is much better though!

Found out yesterday that I've been chosen to test the Aldila Synergy Blue for WRX.  It's gonna look wicked in a Rogue SZ head.

I've DM'd TollBros for his take on what the Blue will be like, but have yet to hear back.  From what I can tell, the Blue will not be as uber low spin as the black which will probably be OK for me.  While I've always liked the feel that type of profile provides, my spin can actually get a bit on the low side considering the higher launch I have and the speed I can generate. Aldila makes the Blue sound like it has the higher launch of the classic Tour Blue but with lower spin.  Also guessing that the graphene material will give it a feel not unlike the shafts that have T1100 in them, which would be outstanding.

... Exactly my point. I do not like an explosive feel/sound. I prefer the dense feel/sound of the Epic. You and others describe the Epic as "dead" while I and others describe it as "dense" and very solid. Plenty of us old school golfers have stuffed cotton or yarn into our metal heads trying to get that dense and solid feel, especially those of us that played persimmon drivers. This is always the difficult task for OEM's. Do you make it explosive and lively or dense and solid? They also run the risk of splitting those two and pleasing neither.

I am with you. This may be not the best analogy, but the feel/sound of the Epic reminds me of the sound of closing the door of a very high end automobile makes...solid. Some other drivers remind me of the sound of closing the door on a low end automobile...tink. lol

Hahaha I hope the Rogue with some heavier weights sounds like the doors on my Lexus.  My GBB certainly gets close with a bit of lead tape :)

I still really like my Epic, it's the best driver I've had so far. I haven't had a chance to test all the new 2018 drivers yet and I am intrigued by what I've seen so far, esp. the Callaway and TM offerings.

As for feel and sound, the Epic feel is fine for me. As for the sound; I think it depends on your clubhead speed. My wife swings in the mid to high 90's and it sounds sort of muffled at those speeds. When I hit it (109 -111 right now, bundled up for the cold) I get a very solid sound. When I crush the sweet spot I sounds like a gun shot. I like that. At the range there are guys with older drivers, eg the older TM's like the RBZ etc. and those things are way too loud and too tinny. If a guy pulls one of those out of the bag anyway near me I have to put my earplugs in to save my hearing. Hopefully those tinny drivers will go the way of the Dodo.

p.s. oh yeah, forgot to mention that with the Epic my heel hits still go very straight. It's my occasional toe hits that are problematic. Maybe TM has solved that? We'll see.

Surprised to read all the issues people have with the sound and feel of the epic SZ.

I've added a couple pieces of lead tape to get the SW right, and did notice an improvement in sound and feel. However I did not feel not bad before the adding the lead tape.

On another note, I am little turned off by the shape/ look of the Rouge. For my next driver I would like to go more compact (M3 440).

For me, it's not that I had a problem with the sound and the feel. I love the Epic Sz, it performs great! But I really like the sound and the feel of the Rogue, it just sounds hotter, even with my same shaft, Also launches a touch low and spins a little less.

... Spend some time at a demo day with one driver and listen to the comments of those hitting it. You will hear "I love the sound/feel" and you will hear "I hate the sound/feel". It is just impossible to appeal to all players as some like a dense almost completely solid sound/feel and others prefer a hot faced explosive sound/feel. Us old school players remember adding cotton and yarn to a driver to get rid of the explosive sound/feel as we [referred a much more muted sound/feel. While most truly hated the sound of the Sumo Square and the Cobra L4V some delighted in everyone at the range looking to see who was hitting that obnoxiously loud driver.Literal definition of different strokes ...

I remember using that cotton/yarn trick.  Of course it was just Friday that I did it most recently so......

(I miss the sound/feel of persimmon)

I never had a problem with the sound of the epic or the sz.  I very much prefer the sound and feel of the Rogue, and there’s simply not enough of the blue to worry about
