I know this is a pretty diverse crowd, but Tom Petty had a pretty diverse following.   Underrated in my opinion considering his body of work.  Rest in peace & don't back down.

Think of my wife whenever I hear "Here Come's My Girl".
Damn The Torpedoes was one of my first 8 tracks, played in a Craig 8 track player in my 1977 Datsun pickup.  I was 16 and gave zero... well, you know.
Tom Petty defined chill.
There's a haze in heaven, tonight.

Just have to say RIP.  My musical tastes are pretty diverse but Tom Petty is always a go to.  His songs bring back good memories from my childhood through present day.

If Stevie Nicks dies soon then Iím sure the apocalypse is nearing.

I will get around to sharing one here for sure. And yes ladies and gentlemen of WRX I have a golf related story involving Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
It is quite a great story indeed.

Big Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers fan. I remember late 70's they had to cancel a concert due to lack of ticket sales.

Even the loosers and American girl. I need one of those Spinal tap Amps that go One more!! It's one more loud!!

Probably favorite artist all time.  Literally the soundtrack to my life.   A few songs I didn't like much, but over all a solid catalog.  I spent three hours in the car today listening to him.  His songs make me think of love won and lost and reminds me of some really great times.  He will be missed.  One of the most under appreciated artists of our time.

Man I love Tom petty.  One of my first concerts was a petty show.  It was awesome.  I grew up listening to him (not even sure how as my dad was never really a fan of him and I grew up in the 90's).

I'm listening to Spotify's "This is: Tom Petty" playlist and Breakdown is playing...  Isn't it something how music can literally change your mental latitude, for the better, when your mind is preoccupied with malarky?

4 hour doc that took me about 6 installments but finished it today.  Pretty interesting, especially his beginnings.
Highly recommended for even the casual fan.

I saw him when he was on tour with Bob (Dylan). Suffice it to say I blacked out drunk so I don't remember much of the show but it was good...as far as I remember. Tom was okay...I never got in to many of his albums, but I guess you could say I was a fan.

Best concert of my life was in 2002 after Jr yr in HS 3 buddies and our gals loaded up an old van (parents) with a supply list of party items and drove from Minneapolis to St. Louis for an outdoor show. Jackson browne opened, and top Petty killed it. A lot of drama a long the way but this nice 50ish couple next to us at the show asked that we exhale toward them (that was odd) but flipped us $30 gas money to help us along the way.

Saw him in a few other concerts but that was the best one. The stars aligned perfect, the venue was small enough, and he was outstanding.

In hs we listened to Tom Petty or hip hop, odd mix looking back. Some kids like Dave Matthews but for us it was petty. Seeing both live only reaffirmed what I already knew.

Saw him and his band many times, of note, the Dylan thing he did and his Fillmore set of shows which he saw numerous of...love to play his songs on guitar. Running down a Dream is a fantastic song on guitar, not very hard. Refugee too, hell, most are pretty straight forward. Damn the Torpedos was such a great record. Perfect for the times, and it sounded fantastic.
His only dig would be that his stage banter was just terrible. He did the same shtick for years and years. It’s a small complaint mind you. But JP was very saddened and surprised at his passing...his songs live on though, and Thanks Tom, you rocked great!

Watched The Postman last night, a post apocalypse movie starring and produced by Kevin Costner.

Tom Petty had a small part in it as leader of Bridge City.  At some point during production there HAD to be some discussion of it being called Century City, wouldn't you think?

Thug only saw him once. Great live performer. Like JP, Thug likes to play TP songs. So easy, so good sounding, it's like candy from a baby. If JP is ever in S Jersey JP and Thug must jam. JP can take the double string lead fills on 'Last Dance with Mary Jane' and Thug will take the rhythm.

Watched The Postman last night, a post apocalypse movie starring and produced by Kevin Costner.

Tom Petty had a small part in it as leader of Bridge City.  At some point during production there HAD to be some discussion of it being called Century City, wouldn't you think?
