As a die-hard Vokey fan, I really like the shape of these wedges.  Too bad they aren't offered in a raw finish.

Well, they are sort of... The black oxide can easily be stripped off.

The X Forged irons are on Callaway's website now and available on the 20th. Any idea when the MD4 releases?

Weird, it is gone now. I was looking at it just this morning, because some buddies were discussing how the lofts are 1* stronger than Apex Pros and old X Forged.

Wonder if they'll bring out a forged version, like they did with the MD3 (i.e. the MD forged)?

The irons are a little busy but then again so are the AP's and I love those. The pictures taken from the address position look almost perfect. And I for one love the red on the wedges. I played the MD3's for awhile and stripped the black to give myself a raw finish which looked fantastic, but I always hated the lime green. Red is a welcomed change in my opinion.

Great job, Callaway!

Introducing The Newest Wedge from Callaway, The Callaway Mack Daddy 4 Wedge. The famous Mack Daddy wedge strikes again with MD4 Wedges, This wedge comes with 4 Grinds: S-Grind, W-Grind, C-Grind and X-Grind.

Technology and Features

- 4 Grinds For Every Shot, Every Condition, and Every Swing - -

Callaway developed 4 unique grinds to suit the shots you hit, the courses you play and the swings you make. It’s the versatility and selection you need to get up and down from anywhere.
W-Grind: A slightly wider sole. It’s perfect if you play in softer conditions or you come in with a steep angle to the ball. And it’s extremely playable out of all types of bunkers.
S-Grind: Our most versatile option. It’s great for a wide range of conditions (normal, soft or firm), shot types, and swings (moderate to sweeping attack angles).
C-Grind: Designed for firmer conditions and versatility around the green. The heel and toe relief allow for a number of shots, especially opening up the face and keeping the leading edge low.
X-Grind: The Newest grind from Callaway which is a Fusion of W and C Grind, this grind gets both advantages of W and C grinds.

- Progressive Groove Optimization -

The Mack Daddy 4 has Progressive Groove Optimization – A 2 groove package precision milled into the face of these wedges that optimizes spin as you go up in the loft. It creates a smoother spin transition from your irons to wedges. The 20V grooves in the sand wedges are designed for full shots and bunker shots, and we put in wider 5V grooves in the lob wedges for better control for shots out of the rough and around the green.

- Advanced Shaping and Design -

Legendary Callaway wedge designer Roger Cleveland took Tour input and blended that with advanced CAD design. The result is a balanced wedge with a high toe profile and a semi-straight leading edge. The weight ports in the back of the wedge gave us the freedom to reposition the weight for better shot-making, especially out of deep rough.

X-grind available in 58* and 60* only.  I like the black.  Paint fill on these is super easy to change guys so don't worry about the red.  Hopefully these are just a touch softer than the MD3 so there is not so much 'click.'

Sorry for the late reply, think of the Apex CF16 with less offset. Top line might be slightly thinner.

Probably going to get black and strip the finish to raw this time.

I'll be ordering the X forged and probably a 60 in an X grind next year. I like my MD Forged but I don't like how little bounce the 60 has on sand shots.

That is the only reason I haven't tried the X forged.  The shape and look is perfect, but the bounce on the lob is way too low for me.

Anybody know if the MD 4 wedges are forged?

MD4 is cast, MD forged is obviously forged :)

I wonder why they go back and forth on cast/forged. Weren't the MD2 forged?

MD 2 and MD3 were cast.  The MD Forged was just a unique line.

MD2's were forged. Says it right on the hosel. MD3 was not and definitely not as soft. I play the MD3 Lucky Clover but wish I had a fresh set of MD2s again, much softer.

Yep the standard MD2s are tough to beat.  I've hoarded a few back-ups just in case I didn't like the newer Callaway offerings.  I know a lot of guys loved the MD2 Tour Grind also.  Too straight of a leading edge for me but they were awesome feeling wedges.

In fact all of Callaway’s wedges had been forged since Roger Cleveland joined on until the Mack Daddy PM wedge and the MD3 series.
