Not feeling the red here either. I know I am one of the few but I actually really liked the acid green in the MD3's.
I think the red will look great with a black finish just like the green, I wish they would go with a more neutral look with some of their clubs, I love straight black, would love a black out version

I agree. Closest thing I got was the MD3 clover edition with the black shaft and grip with minimal acid green highlights.

Apex MB was available in two finishes bright chrome and oil can/raw, it looks beautiful in the flesh and feels just as good.

Have feeling the raw version you are speaking about is either going to be in the Australian market only or tour department only.  Nobody in the US seems to think the raw version will be available at retail here.

I would love a raw set of irons

Im sure we could organise to ship a few sets to the US :)

X Grind.  Interesting.  Hoping for a raw or dark finish option, not loving the chrome.

Also, some of the wedges look like there is a weight port or something added into the port holes.  Other wedges look empty.  Here are 2 different variations:

Good pickup. I wonder what the differences are in terms of weight? Might help lower the traj on the higher lofted irons.

The MD3s had the same weight system. Tungsten in the lower lifted wedges, steel powder in the middle and just painful in the high lofted wedges.

Huh?  I have owned about 10 MD3 wedges and none of them have any weight system in the port holes.

You're right; got my callaway products mixed up! The different materials are in the Apex series of irons. I am curious then why more weight would be added to the higher lofted wedges when you'd want to keep the ball flight down

Saw the new wedges tonight...::they will be in the bag next year....

Also, hit the new Fairway called the Rogue and it felt incredible. Jailbreak tech in a glued hosel and the sole is phenomenal.

Could just be different weight/swing weight options for tour players. A lot of guys love heavy wedges and these could be tour only weight plug options so guys don't immediately litter their beautiful new wedges with lead tape.

Hmmm...As a long time Cally fan, I was ready to give up on their irons.  Never liked the Apex line and it looked as if X forged was dead.  Now this.  Still, it doesn't really move the needle.  Worse, I am having a tough time seeing anything by way of performance improvement.  Not that I was looking for it since after all it is a small CB iron, but the new design just doesn't resonate in the toe area.  I like the more asymmetrical of the 2013 model.  I don't know about the design specifics, but this new one looks less forgiving off toe; maybe it is just all cosmetics.

I'm not feeling those wedges. A very blinding chrome finishing with red lines, circles, etc. It's just so busy. Every year they add more. Will be interesting to see how they feel and perform. I had a hard time dialing in the 3s for some reason.

Simple solution to that. Buy the black satin and use some paint stripper to take all the paint fill off. Then dip in CLR overnight and you have some clean raw wedges.

For the record, there is a huge difference in glare between polished chrome and satin chrome.

Wouldn't they want to keep the X forged ho hum to steer players looking for distance towards epic?

Not necessarily. Two different player categories for the most part. Most guys who want new players forged cavity backs will likely be impressed with a few extra yards and more likely to buy. Even though distance is basically the most unrelated thing to lower scores in this player category, people always seem to be impressed with additional yards.

Clarification, because I didn't see it called out (I may have missed it).

Are these cast or forged? (the MD4)

Thanks,

Anyone else notice how the toe area without grooves is huge on these wedges?  I wonder if that's how they "center the COG".  Instead of actually moving the COG, they just shift the grooves over so the COG is in the center of the grooves.  These are like the opposite of the PM grind clubs.  Good luck hitting the open faced, high in the rough shot with the MD-4's.

I feel like a lot of wedged look like that lately. They definitely look weird to me.
