from that position, the X grind kind of looks like a V grind? I'm sure a grind expert will chime in with the answer soon enough

Yes on both fronts.

Edit:  After further review, the ruling on the field has been reversed,  I much prefer the MD Forged blue accents over the red.

As for the 18' X-Forged,  they look slightly larger then the 13'. I still like them a lot but it will be quite the comparison between the two.

Having seen them in person, they are definitely not even remotely huge...literally about the same size or a smidge bigger than the apex pro 16.

I like the irons thus far, especially the address angles, look forward to seeing them in person. The deeper heel and hosel transition really appeal to me.

Man, those wedges in chrome just make me think "blinding light in my eyes standing over a shot".

And the 2013 X Forged are 100 times better looking. Hopefully these perform as well and feel as good.

Close but no cigar on these, if you ask me.

X Grind.  Interesting.  Hoping for a raw or dark finish option, not loving the chrome.

Also, some of the wedges look like there is a weight port or something added into the port holes.  Other wedges look empty.  Here are 2 different variations:

Are they longer heel to toe than the Apex Pros? Or the 13 x forged?

It's more complex than that - C Grind is less effective bounce on heel, toe, and trailing edge - made for versatility and your bounce is in the middle of the club - could be a lot of bounce in the middle - depend on design and the amount of trailing edge relief.  S Grind looks to have a heel grind and helpful if you open up and may work well out of sand but will have less versatility than C. My guess is W stands for WIDE, meaning very stable for full shots, less versatility and yes, more effective bounce.

That's exactly what I was thinking.  If so, there's a lot of weight down low, even for the high lofted ones.  For that equals moonballs.

Good pickup. I wonder what the differences are in terms of weight? Might help lower the traj on the higher lofted irons.

Currently rocking the md3 wedges and love them, will be in the market for some new wedges and irons this off season, I love the look of bother of these and want to put the x forged in the bag, hopefully the wedges come in a black finish

I think it has more bounce than the C grind, but the same heel and toe relief . If that is the case it would be a little bit easier to play from deep rough of sand with out having to be more precise as you would with a C grind.
