225 with a 95 mph swing sometimes can get it out to 250 max. 58 years old with a left hip replacement.
Livin' proof that Lefties are not naturally talented.

55 tomorrow. Dr SS is 108, Live at sea level. Driver carry is typically 250ish, 13* 3w is 230ish and 7i is 155 (unless I have exactly 155 to the pin, then it seems to go 165 every time!).

I can carry it 300+ on an indoor GC2. Out in the real world, it's more like a 280 carry.

Now if I could just hit it straight...

What I love about these types of threads is that you can see that how long you are is not the most important factor in golf. So many other variables that will determine how you play.

I'd be curious as to how responders calculate carry distance. I don't have trackman numbers since I was fitted 3 years ago (and certainly don't recall what they were), but I have a bunker on a dogleg left that typically needs a 240 yard carry to clear. If I hit it well with no wind assist, my ball hits the lip of that bunker and rolls back to the flat. How's that for scientific?

Very difficult to do accurately in a non-lab setting.

I have a couple of holes at my course that are perfectly straight and often play in the morning when i get almost no roll. On some days i can see my ball mark in the fairway. Other than trackman that's pretty much the only way i can do it.

Are those max distances for your PW & 8i? Im about 133 with PW (48*) and 157 for 8i(40*) and 180 6i. But I cant touch your 4i, in fact if I really step on a 3H I carry 215. My 3w is 225-230 and Driver 250-255. Maybe my set isnt optimized for my swing.

I guess your driver SS is about 115ish and your PW and 8i numbers arent maxed out for distance, but accuracy?

I know 99% of wrx'ers hit it 300+ but for the 1% who don't, where do you truly fall?

I feel like I'm a 290 guy but when its more like 260 on a good day.

I'm in that 1% for the <28 hcp and >60 age. I great day is downhill, with the wind on a hard fairway to 220

My 13.5* driver carry avg is 238 17-20 yard more with 10.5*. I’m usually the longest driver in the group with the avg driving distance of 255 yards. From time to time I’d play with a 275 hitter but not often enough.  300+ hitters those are pretty rare I know of one I play with on semi regular basis. Clearly I’ve not play with golfwrx crowd. Most golfer I see on the courses fall in to 2 groups.  Group one the normal hitters 190-200 and group 2 the 220, that’s it.

Sounds familiar. Our dogleg hole, it's 240 from the yardage marker to the right side of the small cottonwood tree which is just right of the tall poplar tree.

I figure on the occasions when I fly it into the poplar it's about a 255 carry (which doesn't happen often).

from what I've seen on our monitors, SS ranges in the 105-108 range with ball speeds in the 150-160's. I have no idea if that is accurate or not.

Like Golfnut said, this doll is a fairway finding machine.  At 63 not as long as I'd like, but, a respectable 215-220 plus ROLL which finds the short grass most of the time.  A good knock and I'm looking at around 250, so I would say an estimated average of around 235 total.

Honestly it varies so much for me, really depends on the day (weather) and swing I have. 26 y/o swing driver at 109 or so, last I checked.

I work on a really rough average of:

driver - 240m (262yds)
5 wood - 220m (240yds)
4 iron 200m (218yds)
6 iron - 180m (196yds)
8 iron - 150m (164yds)
PW - 130m (142yds)
SW - 100m (109yds)

Those are literally all dependent on how I'm feeling on the day.

And also how much beer I've had.

It could be more or much less.

Driver, consistently 240-250 with a 98-103 swing speed. I have many times gone over 300 but really have to get after it.  I'm.able, consistently to swing 110, but location becomes an issue.  I'm 59 so i'm more about location than distance these days.

7 iron distance depends on which set of clubs I'm using but most often used set is 150 because that feel best for me.  I have a set I can hit 170 with but know its only due to stronger lofts.

According to my GPS, hitting my Brassie (hickory shafted 11 degree 2 wood) on average 184 yards with a season best of 209. Gotta love hard fairways down wind. :golfer:

Launch monitor numbers and on course actual distances. I will check on course numbers here and there. Played a couple weeks ago at the ritz in orlando. It was wet so nothing was rolling out. The 15th is like 465 from the tips. Driver into a tiny headwind left me 197 to center. Carry was between 265 and 270 into a 1 club wind.

So, launch monitors give a picture. On course shots give real.world.

I measured all drives one day. Lowest was 265 total. It was into the wind on a hole that requires accuracy more than distance. Longest was 312. That one was downwind and wide open.

Ok, here is some real data for you, from a large sample size over the last 19th months in different seasons. I play all year round in New Zealand. Every single driver for distance and position from the last 112 rounds. All GPS from Game Golf. Over 36 different courses.

40yrs old. 17 hdcp. Playing 3.5yrs.
Lowest 14 hdcp.

True Average Drive: 207 yds.
Typical Drive: 213 yds.
Longest Drive: 304 yds.

Out of the group of around 8 guys I play with regularly aged 30-45, I'm probably 3rd longest..  I put plenty of drives out there 235-250yds. But that is far longer than my real average.

Looking at this data, it shows that what people don't realise, that there is a massive variance in the length of your drives, even the good ones. Downwind, downhill, into a howling gale, uphill, hard summer fairways in a t shirt, soggy winter fairways in full wet weather gear etc.

That's without allowing for the true average distance people hit it once you include the duffs, slices, fats, hitting trees etc.

I've hit my driver 326. I've hit a friend's driver 340. I've also whiffed with my driver. No idea how far all those tee shots in the woods (on both sides) went. On a full swing (swipe?), I hit my old blade 7iron 190ish. I hit every other club I've ever owned, including my Wilson blade putter, 150 yards.

Looking at this data, it shows that what people don't realise, that there is a massive variance in the length of your drives, even the good ones. Downwind, downhill, into a howling gale, uphill, hard summer fairways in a t shirt, soggy winter fairways in full wet weather gear etc.

Winter is coming around here.  Adjusting to cooler temps and any little breeze into you is a killer.

It's funny in a thread with this title to have responses that are stretching the truth or worse. 275 carry with 101-105 clubhead speed and less-than-perfect smash factor? Not with conforming equipment unless you've got major wind or slope help.

I only saw one post that fits what you describe above and that poster said he averaged much less than that, just that he occasionally hit one 275 when he really got one

As you say, 105 ss and 275 carry is possible with perfect smash factor. Now no one is going to "average" a perfect smash. But the poster didn't claim to unless I missed a post
275 carry with 105ss is not possible even with perfect smash, launch, and spin afaik. And I didn't really mean to pick on one guy, it's just that this whole discussion gets rehashed every couple weeks it feels like, and a whole lot of people operate under different meanings for "average".

Depends on where they live. With a BS of 150, any place over 5000' elevation will give you a really good chance of carrying the ball that far. Lot's of places in the world that are that high!
