I am still testing the XV 5 ball for the last 2 rounds. I love the ball but at the back of my mind, I think the XV 4 ball is just a tad longer off the driver with less spin than the XV 5 ball. I saw that on 2 hole where I had the opportunity to hit 2 ball off the tee to compare. Similar swings but the XV 5 ball had a little more fade spin but the XV 4 was in the middle of the fairway and ahead.

For me, its all about the driver spin as the wedges, both balls are the same. Same for durability.

So anyone here still sticking with the XV 4 ball? Or did everyone switch to the XV 5 ball? Luv to hear your comparison thoughts and why you went with which ball...

I have no idea what you're talking about. Is there a new XV 5 piece that I haven't heard about?

No. The current XV is the 5th version/generation of the ball, XV 4 the fourth generation, etc.

Just having the idea that you are such an incredible ball striker with the driver that you can tell the potential spin differences between 2 generations of the same golf ball with only a couple of swings on a couple of holes has got to be at the top of the list of the most delusional things I have ever heard on this web site.

I mean no insult my friend, but that contention simply makes no sense.

You would need an iron Byron hitting machine and many repetitions under perfect conditions to have any chance of discerning such a thing.

XV 5 was a major improvement over the XV 4 for me.  Maybe version 5 being a tad on the softer side made the difference.

Ive used every xv since it first came out and I didn't get any longer off the tee with the 5th. I also felt like the 4 was softer on greensdie shots and putts although spin was a little better with the 5.

I have always like the XV ball, but fell in love with the RX last year and have been playing the softer versions of urethane balls lately. Picked up a dozen of the new XV in a deal here on the forum and tried the out last Sunday on a nice warm day.

Definitely spun more off my short irons and wedges than my RX, performance was great tee to green. But what I couldnít get over was the ball just felt so HEAVY off all my clubs. I donít remember the previous versions feeling like that so much, but then again Iíve been playing QST and RX and TP5 for 2 full seasons.

thanks, exactly. XV 5 is the 2017 ball, XV 4 is the 2015 ball.
In that case put me down as an XV 5 fan. Love it off driver and full swings with irons, piercing flight and plenty of distance.  Pretty good around the greens. Also very durable and great in the wind. I rate it alongside the csx as the best premium ball out there.

The pre spin skin version was my favorite. The current version is pretty close to it though. Definitely prefer the 5 over the 4, but don't know if the 4 just got a bad taste because I liked the previous version so much.
